Uk parks trip
Ed Farmer replied to manuele.leonelli's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That would be my general consensus. I can appreciate that people may have had a fun time there, but I chalk it up to the companianship factor and nothing else. It's one thing for a park to suck, but all too often I see people have a ball at a shit park and swear golden by it forever after. Two different things. -
Uk parks trip

Meanwhile Thorpe and Alton weren't mentioned. I look at Blackpool and I can't see what the draw is. It looks like Indiana Beach minus Cornball and any good coaster (from the eyeball glance). -
Most Intense B&M!

Not disagreeing with you at all- as I said, I haven't ridden either. I'm intrigued because Iron Wolf is among my favorite coasters... The old Paramount Vortex standups and California's Top Gun top my list of want easily over ispeeds, (meh)ga-lites and blue fires and whatever. I like unpopular opinions, usually they are right. -

Interesting opinion, definitely in the minority here. I've never been to Alton Towers or Thorpe Park so I can't disagree, but I'm intrigued. I've always thought it was neat that they managed to cram a loop into Nemesis' layout, but I *have* thought it might not be as forceful that late into the ride. Just from looking at some pictures of the rides it looks like Inferno's corkscrews would have less snap, otherwise, it looks like the spawn of CGA's Top Gun and a Batman clone. I've found that the earlier the (B&M) design is, the better (because they really haven't been making them like they used to), but Inferno's layout seems nice. -
I think Scorpion, as far as Antons go, is nothing to write home about. You can find one of those up north in Atlanta, as you mentioned. As for Gwazi, I really hope those new trains don't take away from the crazy ride it gave. I know the first opinions are positive, but it also had it's annual refurb, and I remember it was hella smoother coming off some work even in the PTC days.

Most Intense B&M!
Ed Farmer replied to Beate's Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Its such a shame that a great moment like that is part of what I think is the worst B&M effort (though I haven't ridden AIR, and that looks like Ultimate Flight sans pretzel loop). I haven't ridden Manta or Tatsu yet, but the 3 S:UF's I've tried aren't exactly making me want to. Until I ride those, I think B&M has the niftier loading mechanism, reliability, and nothing else over Vekoma's take on the flyer. -
Yeah, Anaconda is something I'd like to try out. I hear so much about positive-g's on Titan and Goliath, I'd think a Batman-esque inverter by Giovanola could trump that in spades.

Most Intense B&M!

It would have to be between the Batman clones and Iron Wolf for me. I also think that Vortex (East and West) would ride pretty similarly to Iron Wolf and CGA's Top Gun would ride pretty similarly to Batman. Those coasters would probably at the top of my most-wanted list. -
Serious Question: Variable Pricing?
Ed Farmer replied to milst1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it would be a great idea from a park's standpoint to do this. Certainly don't think it would hurt for chain like Six Flags to at least experiment with something like this. Most MLB franchises price games based on opponent/calendar/promotions and it doesn't stop people from attending premium-priced games- if the product is good. -
Williamsburg has a great B&M hyper and solid Arrow looper that I would love to see in Tampa, while Tampa has a great B&M looper, solid GCI coaster, and Schwarzkopf looper that I'm sure Williamsburg locals would love to see up north. I've always thought both parks were about equal in terms of the quality of their offerings. Lets not forget Big Bad Wolf and Drachen Fire (I enjoyed both) were ripped out and not replaced yet. Tampa had Python, which I'm not sure anyone is or should be missing. Can't go wrong with either park.

Is anybodys home park their favorite?
Ed Farmer replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I consider SFGAm and BGT both home parks, though since I'm only down in Tampa for about a month or so throughout the year, SFGAm it is. No. I think the park has worsened every year since 2002-2003. Luckily, Busch Tampa is my favorite park. I'll visit it 3-4 times a year while Great America gets a token annual visit. -
What is the best floorless?
Ed Farmer replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode Dominator as Batman Knight Flight. It's my second favorite B&M sitdown looper right behind Kumba. Dominator Medusa (Gadv) Hydra Kraken Kraken and Hydra are two of the weaker B&M coasters I've experienced. The only reason I'd rate Hydra higher is it has a unique layout. I really want to try out Krypton Coaster and SFNE's Batman. Sheikra and Griffon are too different to group in here. -
I'm excited for this, though I would be for just about anything Busch Tampa builds because it's bound to be a quality attraction. It's also about 30 minutes from my winter place at what I consider my home park. That said, I don't understand what there is in the pictures that warrants an "omfg buying tickets/rescheduling my vacation drool" reaction. The figure 8 looks nice with the steep ascent (and hopefully just as steep descent) but what else is there yet? A roll and some launch track? Before this thing is finished I'll be reading pledges to walk across the country barefoot on rocks just to be near it.

It's been fine both days I've been, but I'm sure I can chalk that up to luck. Reliability is the only thing I can see counting against this ride. China appears to be recieving the next installations of this type. Just to add to Savethewhale's post- can't forget the ride's incredible setting. -

Powder Keg is a hidden gem. I can't say enough about it. If I ranked my coasters it would probably be in the top 5, maybe even 3 (out of about 200 give or take a few). -
Best Drops....
Ed Farmer replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ive got to go with Raging Bulls first drop, back row. Apollo ranks highly for me too. Wood is El Toro.
