  1. How could I have forgotten Georgia Cyclone? The last time I rode it (during Goliath's inaugural year) it still delivered like few other coasters do. Viper @ SFGAm is often recognized as the best of the Cy-clones, but Georgia's take on this layout is far superior IMO. Voyage gets hate too, but really I only see it here. No idea why.
  2. As a Cubs fan, I don't mind seeing the Sox struggle. I do, however, still go to their games as well, because I'm a baseball fan at heart, and don't care who I see. I'm as perplexed by their struggles. I thought they had a pretty good team, with a weak bullpen, in a division ripe for the taking by any of the teams (except KC ). Baffling. At least with the Cubs this year, I expected them to suck! I'm like that too. Wrigley is the place to be and I never pass up a chance to go there, despite my passion for the Sox. It's still a chance to see NL ball and teams that wouldn't normally filter through the Cell. The girls are better there too. The Sox will get their crap together- it's just going to be too late by the time they do.
  3. Iron Wolf @ SFGAm is one of my top coasters and the first one that comes to mind. They simply don't make them like that anymore. I imagine the other early B&M standup efforts at CGA and KD would also rank highly for me. The defunct Arrow mega-looper Shockwave (also SFGAm) is another ride that wasn't popular, and I enjoyed. GASM at SFGAdv was similar, and I enjoyed it, but the trim took away from it a bit. Wooden Coasters- Gwazi, Wildebeast. I haven't ridden Gwazi with the MF trains, but the people bitching about it prior to the MF trains need vagisil. I thought it was the best GCI effort aside from Prowler. Aside from those, I don't recall ever having a bad time on a Vekoma ride. Boomerang and SLC coasters are fine by me. SFoG's and SFStl's Ninja coasters seem to have an especially bad reputation. I didn't mind the Stl. version, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Georgia version. Love it, wish it was closer to me.
  4. Liriano threw a no-hitter against the Sox today. Getting no-hit is one thing. Getting no-hit by your hated division rival is something else. After the quick start against Cle, KC and TB, the Sox just haven't been right. On May 3 they are already flirting with "no coming back from this far out" territory. Easily the most let down I've been by my team since I've been a fan. This was supposed to be a World Series contender, not an abortion.
  5. Yes, his "medial collateral labia." Scott "couldn't resist" B. Well played.
  6. I thought it was well known by now that Cutler suffered a torn MCL before halftime, and tried playing through it to start the second half. Kudos to Jay. He recently did a similar event here in Naperville to promote an active lifestyle/combat childhood obesity.
  7. How did that strategy play out for Six Flags?
  8. I just went to her concert on Saturday night, and it's amazing how many people had their kids there. Again, Lady Gaga is not someone an overwhelming majority of families would let their kids follow.
  9. Dolly Parton isn't necessarily "relevant" anymore but she has a theme park. Madonna isn't "relevant" anymore but she still has a large fan base. To be honest, I could definitely see this working out, and I would definitely find myself there. Dolly Parton is a different situation altogether. She enjoyed decades of success before becoming co-owner of an existing park and re-naming it Dollywood in 1986. Same with Madonna- decades of success. The Potter franchise, around since '98 and in an altogether different realm of popularity than Lady Gaga will ever see recently opened a themed land within an existing park. I ask again, how and why does anyone think this is a good idea (Paparazzi: The Ride, really?)? Based on her two years of popularity? How can this be marketed towards families? (It can't)
  10. I'm having trouble seeing Lady Gaga remaining relevant 10 years from now. A show or attraction (probably for Halloween) at an existing park (like the afore-mentioned Universal), yeah, and probably in the short term it would be really popular. A whole park would be an abortion of a business plan.
  11. Cannot possibly continue for too much longer. I'm loving whats going on in BAHSTIN though. I don't think thats going to continue either, but it's extremely satisfying coming off an offseason that netted Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, and 100+ win expectations. Watching Tampa Bay destroy Matsuzaka last night made me fondly recall how absurd his posting fee was/salary is.
  12. Kumba, and it's not even close. I've found Montu to be as "hit or miss" as a B&M inverter could possibly be. Fortunately, it's more hit than miss.
  13. Finally here. Taking off early from work tomorrow to catch the Sox opener in (snowy) Cleveland on tv. MLB Schedule makers are a group I'll never understand. Teams from the north should open the season on the road against teams in warmer climates, at least until mid-April.
  14. If they removed Demon there would be a buttload of space (combined with Splashwater Falls / Antique Cars area). I know it's not likely to happen - especially since Iron Wolf is a far better candidate for removal. Should be an exciting few years, though! Cameron. The important question is how many wild mouse coasters would fit in that space?
  15. For the pull-through they are. Once actual test runs begin they will be longer.
  16. Curious to see if they've designed the pre-drop dip out of inverters as well. Otherwise, looks like a great layout.
  17. I find Diet anything to be nasty. I'd go with stagnant pond water before Pepsi, so this sounds about right.
  18. I like the ride just the way it is, so waiting a year is fine by me.
  19. It's a Zamperla Volare. Not a particularly popular coaster. The first one was built at Elitch Gardens, and it has since been relocated to New York (Coney, IIRC). There is one more in NY, and another at Canada's Wonderland. About as big of a waste of steel as Superman: UF, but at a fraction of the cost.
  20. Sweet, on the second video, you can hear the high-pitched motors from the Sky Whirl. You could hear that ride from almost anywhere in the park. I miss Sky Whirl @SFGAm. When it was replaced by Deja Vu I wasn't that bothered because GIBs are fantastic. Now that it has ultimately been replaced by the waste of space Buccaneer Battle, it's a different story. I think the triple wheels are all gone, but how about the double wheels? I remember reading not too long ago that there were a few left (presumably) overseas.
  21. Had this been a relative or friend of mine, I don't think I would want Disney spending time with anyone when their intentions are obviously self serving. I don't think they would be criticized for leaving them be either. Clearly the family doesn't have an issue with it, so it's a moot point.
  22. Riverview Bobs And selfishly, SFGAm's Shockwave, in it's original location, thusly ridding the world of the waste of steel that replaced it- Superman: Ultimate Flight.
  23. Everything about ZacSpin screams portable to me. If Intamin didn't jump on this then kudos to whoever did.
  24. Agreed, not going to happen. This is a big fuss over a little sh1t. Probably for Haunt.
