  1. Maybe that's finally what's happened. Universal has sold the rights or at the very least is coming up with a large figure to put to Disney, and they're preparing by making way for Transformers to come in cause they know theres a big chance they're getting rid of Marvel? While reading themeparkindsider.com, I noticed that they're speculating that there may be already a done deal to buy out the Marvel license from Universal, and that this is an effort to make sure they have the signature ride system in place before the deadline of the license running out. They presented some fairly solid reasoning, but still speculation.
  2. Great coverage! I really like how they themed the monorail bridge. To me, at least, it keeps the monorail from looking out of place, because you can't tell that it's a monorail and not a standard 2-rail train just from looking. Seems fairly reminiscent of how one might find a modern looking train running through some of the older parts of european cities. Very cool, area, all around. I look forward to seeing it in person when I get out there for the half marathon in Sept!
  3. Great Pictures! I'm sure the JP logo is fully licensed, too...
  4. Both Locked! Still waiting to be locked myself. One thing's for sure - with this many different answers being given, we're going to have quite a few that aren't right!
  5. As far as Megan, I'm going with CHOICE D. ALL OF THE ABOVE! For duckies - after much deliberation, as well as some waffling over the last one, I'm going with 13 duckies! Lock it in, please!
  6. I've also been noticing that my topic subscription emails do not seem to be arriving. I use Juno, so it seems to be more widespread than a single email provider.
  7. I'm giving serious consideration to picking up a pair when I'm out for the 1/2 marathon in Sept - they seem like a great idea. The potential in these sounds amazing - hope the execution is too!
  8. I think the best answer for this would probably be "Go on one." I also seem to recall that they discourage "random meetups" with the trip groups. If you personally know someone on the trip, that can be a different story.
  9. True, but if they can find some space for it in Tokyo Disneyland, it could work. Maybe.
  10. I checked a couple of dates and I did find that a single night on a Saturday in late July was $345. I also went farther out on a weekday in October and it was $105 for one night. Might have something to do with being new and so many people want to stay there they can get away with it for a few months. I just have a hard time swallowing that price, even for a new resort, when I can take my family in August and get 2 rooms to accommodate all 8 of us at Port Orleans and not spend $400 per night. I am a huge Disney fan and love going to Disney World but I think I will wait a while before trying this resort. Please bear in mind that the $345 price is for the Family suite, sleeping 6. A Standard room, sleeping 4 would only be $139 for the same nights. Of course, the only Standard Rooms will be in the Little Mermaid section (the last to open) and will be unavailable this august. The $105 in october is a standard room rate (not family suite - that would be $265 the same night)
  11. I'm glad to see that they're starting to make an effort to make the Magic Kingdom less of a nutritional wasteland. More options, especially ones that aren't "empty calories" is a good thing!
  12. For comparison: Fall season, weekday rates: All Star Music (Bottom of value): Standard Room $95, Family Suite $215. Art of Animation: Standard Room $105, Family Suite $265. Family suites top out at $375 (Music) and $425 (Animation) during the week from Dec 21-31. Best prices are weekdays in January. Standard rooms sleep 4, suites sleep 6. 13. This is actually a Value Resort... though most agree it's at the top end, but still in the "Value" category.
  14. I know most of the focus yesterday was on Coasting for Kids, but are there any thoughts/updates coming (now or in the future) from this event?
  15. No chance. Around here, that would be Verbolten. Too soon?
  16. It's time for me to finally chime in. I was out Coasting for Kids at Kings Dominion yesterday, with one of the, ahem, other teams. Mostly because I've been working with said other team since before CfK went chain-wide, and there was a legacy event at KD (hence the fact that KD's schedule looks so much different from everyone else's). Like always, it was an outstanding day, an awesome event, and most important, we raised a TON of money for an amazing place. My hat is off to all those who fudraised, donated, and spread the word about yesterday's event, whether you were part of team TPR or one of the others (I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one), because after all, as Chuck said, many pages ago, "It's about the Kids." See you all at a Bash again soon. -Frank
  17. Considering this is about duckies, shouldn't that be "FOWL!"?
  18. One more great log flume, and my favorite of the genre (outside of Disney/Universal, natch) is Paul Bunyan's Log Chute. Picks up on the Knotts vibe for the MN crowd. And, oh yeah, year round accessible but doesn't leave you wanting to go home rather than continue to explore the mall.
  19. 24/40. Echo the thought that it was partly about remembering which cities had already gone by. It helped that I actually knew a few (like, um 3 of them).
  20. I'll be bold enough to go first this week - lock me in for 6 duckies!
  21. Looks like we need some locking here, so... You all are locked! I think I got everyone, except myself, of course.
  22. Ok, Big Mike, here's my entry. But first, a story. I found the enumeration of "Round 2" after I got off my second plane of the day on Saturday. You see, right now I'm out serving my 2 weeks annual training for the Navy Reserve, and so I had to go hunting for a Carousel, as I'm outside of my home area. Trouble is, given that my duty this year sent me to Pearl Harbor Naval Station, the nearest "permanent" amusement park is a 5+ hour plane ride from here. I discovered two likely candidates while scouring the island of O'ahu these past few days. The only "full size" carousel I could find is at the 50th State Fair, which doesn't open for another week and a half. There is also, however, a miniature carousel at Ala Moana, which is where this charming horse can be found. Lei Ride <3 Big Mike Since it's difficult to see the sign, here it is to show how much Lei Ride loves you, Big Mike! see? And if you need anymore buttering up to accept my offering, Big Mike, let me know and I'll gladly post pictures of a few of the culture credits out here. -HighRoller
