  1. I'm not a sports fan and I can't see how anyone can be a sports fan in Cleveland (my opinion, don't hate me fellow Clevelanders) but I absolutely hate the idea of naming a coaster after Lebron even if it is a smart marketing idea. If it happens I hope it's not Lebron-nium Force.
  2. Huss still offers the standard Frisbee but with inward facing seats - only the giants have the outward facing seats. Zamperla, SBF Visa and Fabbri all have Frisbee style rides as well and most have the outward facing seats. I really liked Zamperla's Giant Discovery (Black Widow at Kennywood) better than the Huss giants.
  3. I remember the days when you used to see a lot of Michigan plates at the park. Now I'm seeing more plates from places much farther away.
  4. Not sure how that is going to work as they would have to pretty much level much of that area to make it fit. You have Subway next to it and Sleigh Ride directly behind UFO's pad and the supports alone are going to need a lot of space. Sure they could relocated Sleigh Ride but currently it seems to like they are removing rides without replacing them right away. While Sleigh Ride has seen better days, i.e. it doesn't run as fast as it used to, I'd hate to see another ride go.
  5. I, too, wonder what a Moser tower is like since Mach Tower was closed both days I was at BGW back in 2012. Interesting how the reports from the Scandi trip say that both Moser towers in Finland were running well.
  6. As someone who generally goes to CP alone if I'm with someone who either has never been to the park or hasn't been in years I usually let them make the decisions since it's their day and I've been on everything dozens of times. I may give them some tips along the way to help.
  7. One of the areas I consider a dead area is along the path that's located behind Blast Off and Anchor Bar near the Laserblast area. I always thought Boomerang was in an odd location being all by itself in that corner by Beaver Brothers and I'm sure it could use some company.
  8. I don't know, it could be possible, but Rougarou sounds like it should either be a wood coaster, dark ride, or haunt. Whatever it is at least it's an original name and not something generic. Kings Island has the Wolf Pack in the old Son of Beast station and KI is building something next to Beast - hmmm, new werewolf haunt in the new spot so that they could tear down the remains of SOB.
  9. Glad to hear that the Scrambler is coming back. Hopefully they will put it in an area that could use a little more foot traffic.
  10. 1. Inverted 2. Hyper 3. Dive 4. Wing 5. Floorless 6. Flyer 7. Stand-up
  11. Darien's strengths are the coasters, which MFI and Seabreeze can't compete with even though Silver Comet is better than most of what Darien offers (Jack Rabbit isn't bad either). Darien also has the better water park but if MFI continues to expand the way they have been that could change things. They did remove their log flume thus opening up more land to expand the water park if they wanted to.
  12. High risk but at what cost? Doing anything that would be deemed "risky" comes with a high price and if they aren't going to recoup that cost in as short a time as possible it's not going to happen. I'd consider adding RoS when they did was a big risk for a park the size of DL and though the "reward" was finally putting DL on the map you didn't see much major investment afterwards. I don't think it's a management issue but more ownership though reading that the park is still running coasters with single trains and slow intervals is disappointing. Do you think Darien Lake didn't see the bump in attendance they hoped for with the addition of Rowdy's Ridge and Blast Off and that's why they haven't pushed forward to add something larger?
  13. When I rode Wicked Towster a few weeks ago I could not get the belt buckled on my own and I sat in the second to last row. The ride op had to come by to help by having me push down on the top of the restraint as she buckled it. Speaking of belts I had tried the test seat at Millennium Force and I'm just "this close" to buckling the belt yet at Dragster I was able to buckle the belt on the test seat with little problem. I ended up being able to ride Dragster for the first time in years. Maybe my next visit will be the charm for MF.
  14. ^^^True, but considering Windseeker's location and how far back the park goes from it I would think the view would be better if the ride was more centrally located in the park. Plus it seems the beachfront location has a bigger impact on the ride since it can get a bit breezier compared to other areas. Too bad Power Tower took the most ideal spot even though Dragster is right there.
  15. To a certain extent I miss Space Spiral more so for its impact on the skyline and how it was always that one landmark I looked for when I would head out there. I'd be happy if they installed a new one, especially one with an outdoor deck that you can spend time on like you can on the Eiffel Towers at KI and KD (though I do like Intamin's gyro towers as well). The old Millennium Force overflow queue area - gosh I remember waiting in that area back in 2000. Maybe they should take a cue from the European parks and install a Peanuts Playground for the kids while their parents are waiting in line for MF. Seems ideal since Planet Snoopy is over by Windseeker and Camp Snoopy is over by Pipe Scream/Gemini.
  16. Diamondback is quite smooth but I think the roughness that those have posted about is being confused with "rattly" as these staggered seat trains have more rattle than the original four across trains on rides like Apollo's Chariot, SFOG Goliath, and Raging Bull. I don't remember Intimidator's trains having the rattle but it's very noticeable on D-back (though let's be honest, this is a snake themed ride so consider the rattle in the trains as theming) I prefer sitting towards the back for the airtime plus being pulled over the first two hills is awesome.
  17. No, I haven't been to the park since 2010 but even then the park overall looked pretty good to me. It just has a few spots that need an influx of new attractions, the biggest one being where they eventually added Tsunami Soaker. Out of curiosity but isn't SFStL the smallest of the Six Flags parks in terms of actual developed acreage and not total acreage of the entire site?
  18. I can't believe the amount of complaining about SFStL. Many of you make it sound like it's the worst park in the country.
  19. How often do they use the Afterburn gate? When I was there three years ago they never opened it and I had to take the long walk to the main entrance.
  20. Here we go again...... I wonder if this is similar to what was supposed to happen in Dubai - not exactly run the park but allow licensing rights to the Six Flags name. With the mouse building a huge home in Shanghai plus the current explosion of theme parks being built I don't know why Six Flags would even think of trying to venture into the Chinese market.
  21. The only major tip is to get Nighthawk out of the way first thing in the morning. The other rides shouldn't be a problem. Do we really need to add the 325 to the name, that is, if that's what this new coaster is going to be called? They should keep with the tradition of calling everything Carolina, i.e. Carolina Cyclone, Carolina Cobra, Carolina Goldrusher, Carolina Sky Tower. Actually Carolina Fury doesn't sound that bad either.
  22. I know someone mentioned Lightning Run but Chance's older hypers didn't have grab bars either. I was surprised to find nothing to hold onto when I first rode Steel Force back in 2005. Phantom's Revenge's trains don't have them either.
  23. I was up at the Point last Thursday and took a spin on Mean Streak. It was actually running pretty good (though I did have my back away from the seat back) plus I got the bonus of being stuck on the brake run for about ten minutes due to mechanical reasons. I agree. The large footprint of the ride could result in something amazing. Get RMC to make a wooden version of Maverick with topper track.
  24. Since it's behind Crypt and the Crypt is being used as a haunted house my guess is that a new haunt is going back there.
  25. Great TR, thanks for the photos. Looks like Tsunami Soaker has been well received by the GP. The park did a nice job of it but like others have stated in the past it does look a bit out of place just based on the area around it. Maybe SF will do a small re-theme around the ride to make it fit in better? The log flume is actually one of my favorites since it's a long ride but it looks like it needs a bit of TLC.
