  1. I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at here, but we usually debate these issues in other annual threads (such as those for the Golden Tickets or the Mitch Hawker poll). It's all subjective. Different people have different criteria (and agendas) when it comes to coaster polls. It's mostly a matter of personal preference.
  2. Yes, mods and members do slip from time to time when it comes to manners--all are human. However, I am compelled to politely point something out: Despite what you think of your old screenname, TPR's Terms of Service require that you use it. I'm afraid that this account will be deleted. You must use your original account.
  3. Er, because they still had the Big Bad Wolf at the time they moved Wild Maus to Tampa?
  4. Webcams--sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Relax. In the meantime, you could do something useful in your community, such as set up a window display on public safety, or visit a dairy and learn how milk is prepared and handled for market. Just a suggestion.
  5. Since there is no confimration from the park, or any other source provided for this information, I've locked this thread.
  6. Well, there are "C" ticket dark rides and "E" ticket dark rides. From what I understand, the Little Mermaid attraction will be the latter (if it's like the ride they're building at Disney's California Adventure). Overall, it does look like a pretty radical and (I think) long overdue makeover for Florida's Fantasyland.
  7. There is a difference between an abbreviation for a park or ride name and text-message shorthand. Abbreviations such as "BGW" for "Busch Gardens Williamsburg" are perfectly acceptable to save time and space (provided readers can understand them). Something like "ppl" (which could also mean "parts per liter") for "people" is not, and an overabundance of abbreviations makes a long post more difficult to read. I appreciate members who adhere to the site's rules, but let's go a bit easy on the backseat moderating. Thank you.
  8. ^^I'm confident that BGW will replace BBW with something good, as well. I think the big issue at the moment is the deal that is supposedly in the works with Blackstone. I imagine that'll delay the announcement of any substantial additions to the park until after the dust settles. As for downtime for BBW, they couldn't get it up and running for Passholder Preview Day this year (they cycled empty trains, for the most part). ^And Homeboy and Snowboard, settle down, please--while remembering that proper grammar and spelling are important here, no matter how late you post.
  9. Aren't those on the Batmobile: "Robin! The Joker has tampered with the Batbrakes!" BBW was a very expensive ride to maintain, and it beat itself up every day it ran. Yes, Nessie is older, but it is a more "conventional" ride. Plus, I think that Nessie really is the park's "iconic" attraction (more so than the Wolf).
  10. Thanks for sharing the behind-the-scenes look at CP's Haunt. I find it rather interesting that "evil toys" seem to be in at Haunts this year. Halloween Horror Night at Universal in Florida and Howl-o-Scream at Busch Gardens Tampa are also doing evil-toys mazes (Universal's is themed to the "Child's Play" movies). Everything seems to run in cycles. One year, it's evil clowns and carnivals. The next, it's twisted versions of fairy tales. Not a criticism, just an observation.
  11. Tokyo DisneySea--no doubt. This is, I think, the best, most immersive theme park ever built.
  12. ^Yep--I'm Chuck. I started this thread to put all my BGW stuff in one place. I found it interesting that BBW's station and queue remain on the map without the ride. Might not mean much of anything, but who knows?
  13. I went over the BGW today to see how the Howl-o-Scream preparations are coming along. There didn't seem to be much going on where guests could see it, but I imagine there was quite a bit of work behind the scenes. Here's a look. You can still buy Wolf merchandise, though. That's all for now. Pop quiz 3--What's missing . . . oh, you already know. The Big Bad Wolf Memorial Stump. Pop quiz 2--What's missing here? . . . and the exit. Here's the entrance . . . They've covered BBW's station in lath. Pop quiz 1--What's missing here? Look like they making this poor horse dress up for Halloween a bit early. They're selling Dept. 56 stuff in Ireland, too. I wonder if they'll sell 56's Christmas stuff later on? Hmm--I wonder. Is this attraction closed to make the transition to the soft-core "Screw Hill," or are they putting an HOS maze in there? (This was the site of BGW's very first HOS maze 11 years ago.) Now that is one big, honkin' pumpkin. "Frankenfood," indeed. Yep--Jack's coming back to Ireland. I know a few people who would probably keep this lamp in their living rooms all year long. Hmm--seems that they're trying to unload a bunch of Masquerage shirts from last year. And don't forget that Halloween merchandise. This is in the Festhaus. The Grim Reaper is backstage, awaiting his cue. How would you like to be on the tattered-rag-hanging detail? This split-rail fence keeps getting bigger. Looks like a bit more work's been done on the old Drachen Fire barn. Of course, they have put up these uber scary wreaths! Oh my God! The horror! The horror! . . . Christmas Town on the other. They're handing out these flyers at the pakring-lot booths. Howl-o-Scream on one side . . .
  14. I've never bought the "poor placement" argument when it come to Drachen Fire. Busch has been running Howl-o-Scream mazes in DF's old station and barn for years, and no one has a problem finding those. It was rough, people came off with bruises and headaches (me among them), and it got a bad reputation as a result.
  15. EDIT: You spelled "Enthusiasts" wrong. Are you sure about that?
  16. ^OK, I walked into that one. Looks like I'll have to join Facebook--how can I pass up a chance to see Lima Bean World?
  17. ^You see, my problem with In-n-Out is that although I like their burgers, I absolutely hate 1,000 Island dressing (always order it without). I much prefer the Five Guys approach where they build your burger to order. In-n-Out's fires are great, though.
  18. More of a Five Guys man, myself. But Carl's Western Bacon Cheeseburger is pretty durn good.
  19. ^I believe that it represents as eagle (as in the Busch eagle). Does sort of look like as evil face, I guess.
  20. Where did you hear this? (Just curious.) I suppose they could do some of the work Monday-Thursday during HOS.
  21. ^I don't imagine there'll be much dismantling until early next year. There's a scarezone and two mazes for Howl-o-Scream right behind the Wolf.
  22. Search is your friend. You'll get the hang of it. Thread locked. ^You didn't look very hard, did you?: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/search.php.
  23. Excellent choice, eating at the Capital Grill--the steaks are awesome.
  24. I did. Two of my nieces are big fans of Count von Count. He's going to be at BGW's Howl-o-Scream this year.
  25. I think Megaphobia is a good, solid ride (at least when I rode it in '06), but it is a bit overshadowed by Speed.
