  1. Thanks to the wonder of mitosis, one creature becomes two. It is the Miracle of Life!
  2. ^Damage was actually worse in central Virginia than it was closer to the coast, too. So, I can understand people being cautious on the NC-SC border.
  3. ^I think that depends on the ride. The Batman inverts are pretty much beloved; the Superman flyers, less so.
  4. Rape whistle? Why would you want to attract rapists?
  5. Hmm--I had no idea there was a "hidden Smurf" in the Volcano queue.
  6. ^The Frankenstein maze was particularly good that year.
  7. Yeah, people emptied the local markets of bottled water pretty quickly around here. There's stuff bouncing off my house from time to time, as well.
  8. We've had rain and high winds in Williamsburg since 6:00 am. We'll see what happens, but so far, so good.
  9. We already have a thread devoted to park train rides, so I've merged this new one with the old one. As for park train rides, I'm rather partial to Disneyland's (it's got dinosaurs), Knoebels (it's got ravenous squirrels and is creepy at night), and, of course, BGW's (it's good way to get around the park when you're tired).
  10. ^There was the "Mitsui Greenland Incident" of 2007, and the "Happy Gator Rollback" of 2006.
  11. ^No shouting, please. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, being as the park isn't getting a GCI or any other kind of woodie, there's nothing to discuss about this point. Please keep the discussion focused on what Verbolten is probably going to be, rather than what you think it should've been.
  12. Hmm--didn't know that. The height requirement for both Mach Tower at BGW and and Drop Tower at KD is 48 inches. Fifty-two seems a bit much for Windseeker.
  13. Based on what I've seen here, it looks like Windseeker may be a better fit for Knott's than some of the other Cedar Fair parks--a good, moderately thrilling ride that families can enjoy together.
  14. We're under a "tropical storm warning" in Williamsburg for tomorrow. The last big hit we had was Isabel back in 2003. It was quite a mess. I lost power in my neighborhood for five days. BGW had to hurry and stash all their Howl-o-Sceam decorations indoors and had about 120 trees down over their train tracks. The 'Burg is in kind of a weird spot for hurricanes. Usually, people get worked up and nothing much happens--but Isabel was an exception. As for Irene, I guess we'll know soon enough. I have some canned soup, crackers, Nutri Grain bars, and a camp stove (if I can just remember where I put the damned thing), just in case.
  15. I think part of the problem is KD's policy of offering their own "quick queue" on Wednesdays only. I've only tried to use it once (at TPR's East Coast Bash a few years ago), and the staff doesn't seem to know how to handle it (it's a bit too "casual"). BGW has, for the most part, dedicated seat rows, separate entrances, and formal procedures in place for rides with Quick Queue (and the staff knows what to do). This could improve if KD institutes a system and had formal procedures for using it.
  16. OK, that show looks like it takes other Disney outdoor shows, ties them to the bumper of its car, and drags them down a gravel road. Thanks for sharing these pics, Hanno!
  17. ^^Beer, ERT, fried pies and more surprises--sounds great!
  18. The last couple of Bashes with beer featured Sam Adams, but who knows?
  19. ^ & ^^Such an unselfish sacrifice should not go unrewarded. I'll be there with you!
  20. We kid each other a lot here, but this comment is a bit "borderline." Remember, it's all about having fun. Thank you, cfc Site Moderator i kid i kid, im a pretty ugly mofo myself. It's all in how you present yourself. Just be a bit more careful in how you make such comments in the future.
  21. I was on the top floor of the building where I work, when it started swaying; being a transplanted Californian, I knew what was going on, but many of my coworkers didn't. When asked "What should we do?" I suggested running around screaming "AHHHHHHHH!" But it was over in a few seconds, anwyay.
  22. ^Double looping hasn't happened in years, to the best of my knowledge.
  23. Haunted Hospital is my main reason for ever returning to Fuji Queue (altough I guess the new Eurofighter would be a bonus). Do they use scareactors in the Hospital, or is it just atmosphere and mechanical effects?
