  1. Someone did make it up off the top of their head...Mark Shapiro. It was he that leaked the info at an ACE luncheon this week. He also specified the "Terminator" theme. The proximity thing is silly. The T2 ride at universal is an interative dark ride. The SFMM one is a coaster. You'd have to be a complete moron to confuse the two. And even if you did? So what?
  2. Not quite. This ride will obviously be tied in with the release of the new Terminator: Salvation (with Christian Bale) film coming next year. The same way the new "Batman" rides are tied in with the "new" franchise, Dark Knight, as oppose to the Michael Keaton franchise.
  3. And if it IS a CCI *WOODIE* Then why would you theme it to terminator? LOL, the same way you would theme Evil Knievel to a *WOOD* coaster.
  4. Right. But some Six Flags parks actually have two Batman, Superman coasters in the same park. How is this anymore confusing than that?
  5. Wow. (2) GCIs opening in California next year, for a total of 3. For me it's it's not so much about the designers/builders of the ride, but rather how creative and intense the layout design turns out. Either way these rides are fun, and the Millennium Flyers are FTW!
  6. Apparently Mark Shapiro let it slip at an ACE event that the new coaster at SFMM would be GCI and themed to The Terminator. I've heard from a few people that the new coaster would be in the Cyclone Bay area, but will not use the Pysclone land. Now THIS is exciting!
  7. ^ And Tatsu... Tatsu should be a people eater. But I found the long wait more frustrating than X2. And Tatsu has to have the most boring, energy draining queue in existance.
  8. Great America gets bashed around a lot, but it really is a nice looking park. Once the new coaster opens, I think people will realize how underrated it is. New coasters tend to do that...
  9. You think that area was nice? To me that was easily the ugliest, most boring area of any theme park ever. Thank God they spruced it up.
  10. At WCB, Tim said something to the effect of, "For the smoothest ride on X, place the heavier person on the outside seat, with the lighter person on the inside". Anyone else remember that? Or perhaps it was the other way around.
  11. I suggest people get out and ride it (if it's something that interests you), and THEN give an opinion. Otherwise I can't help but laugh at your pre-ride negative stances on the ride and the management team How do you know the ride won't be smoother than you're expecting? I haven't read a review yet stating that the ride isn't at least a little smoother. I've known from the beginning that a smoother ride on X depends on the weight distribution on the seats. And based on the nature of the design, that can't MAGICALLY be engineered out of the ride without rebuilding the entire ride design from scratch. It's the nature of the beast. I just hope it rides at least as well as it did right before the ride went down. That, combined with the audio experience, has me excited to ride again.
  12. ^ Ugh, here you go again. Tim gave his opinion. So uness you are accusing him of lying, what you're saying makes no sense. As I said before, there is a reason he compared X2 with Scream and not the park's other B&Ms, Goliath or even Viper. Scream as smooth as Tatsu or Riddler? Um... ok. The first drop on Scream gives me a headache. I totally "got" the comparison, and I'm not even a X fan. Once again, if people built up expectations beyond what is even capable, that's not SFMM's fault, it's their own. ADMIN: Please no personal attacks. We are here to have a healthy discussion. 13. ^ Um...have you ever been on Scream? There's a reason Tim referenced Scream and not Riddler's, Tatsu or Batman. Scream is not a buttery smooth B&M. On the contrary actually. So his comments were not hype at all. Ithink people beileved what they wanted to believe, despite warnings all winter long that the point of this revamp was to increase capacity and downtime issues. Robb is right. To make X as smooth as a B&M, the ride would need to be completely re-engineered by guess who? B&M. It's still an Arrow creation. I don't see how ANYBODY could be confused by that...
  14. For me it was always the jerky seat rotations that made for a rough ride on X. I DO NOT expect that to change.
  15. So was Dark Knight at SFNE, and now it isn't. I guess the point I'm making is, with SFMM being such a high profile park in the chain, a standard mouse isn't going to cut it. There will have to be something about it that stands out and is marketable.
  16. ^Plans change all the time in the theme park industry. Nothing is final until an annoucement is made.
  17. Yes, except Six Flags has never built anything "standard" at Magic Mountain. You build something standard, and you get a standard response. If it is a mouse type coaster, I suspect it will carry something to make it "not" standard, like the Dark Knight coasters. More than ever, this park needs something they can heavily market against Knotts.
  18. Actually, I think it's going to be "SCREAM 2.0" The entire ride will be covered by a gigantic dome, ending it's reign as the world's most blatant parking lot coaster!
  19. ^ Yes, but the removal of Flashback didn't leave them with just one steel coaster left, Psyclone leaving leaves a pretty big hole in the wooden coaster catagory. I'm not saying a wood coaster is coming (lord knows they haven't had good luck with them in the past), but it would make sense to me if they went in that direction.
  20. Doesn't Great Adventure also use DJ's in some queues? I remember them at Superman and Nitro. This would work wonderfully in both X's and Deja Vu's queue areas.
  21. Well B:TR refelcts the Tim Burton era and I think it should stay as a reflection of that first film. I expect at some point we will get a second Batman themed ride that will reflect the new franchise. Either a Dark Knight ride or something exclusive to SFMM.
  22. God I hope SFMM builds a GCI or Intamin wood soon. I don't care if it's only 75 feet high, SFMM needs a good wooden coaster. As for Cedar Point, I haven't been there since 2000, and I was relatively impressed. But IMO, right now I'd give Hershey Park the edge over CP and SFMM. It has good steel, and good wood.
