Thanks for the PTR! I always chuckle when I see a Zierer train cause they're ridiculously long. -

Yes, Sadly some companies charge for uniforms or even name tags for that matter. -
The Control Panel Enthusiast Thread
DJeXeL replied to Montu Maniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wish I had my old Metro PCS nokia slider phone. I had a good pic of SMUF's panel, along with GASM, Deja Vu and Thunder River's panels. I notice you put 'El Toro's second panel' why did it have two panels? Or was one a remote panel for verification. KK's panel is HUGE and I was expecting a touch screen like a flyer. I absolutely love this thread! Air @ AT. Can't read buttons but better than nothing.... Source -
In regards to that, they are required by law to show that video since its a safety video that opened with the ride. If any of the TVs aren't displaying the video or the DVD player breaks, then the ride cannot run until it is fixed. Is that a california-only law? I feel like i've been to other parks that sometimes have had their tv screens turned off. No. *BUT*, it would depend upon what is written into the SOP for the ride. So if for some reason Knott's wrote that into the SOP as being a required feature, than yes they will always have to go down for it. Haven't operated or read the SOP for Xcel, but at Ghost it's written in ours that the video must be playing. XC is the same as well as Silver Bullet. CA Screamin' can't run if the station safety spiel or launch spiels stop working. All of the above attractions have the safety videos and/or spiels included into their opening checklist procedures as well as SOPs.

Just out of curiosity. How often do they have to replace worn cables. I bet that isn't cheap. The cables theoretically can be used for an entire year, at which the park will replace all 3 cables during XC's annual rehab. Unfortunately, sometimes the cables exhibit excess wear which is caught by the parks daily inspections so they may need to be replaced earlier than their scheduled yearly replacement date. I'm not sure how much exactly the cables cost but I can only imagine that replacing them twice a year is not desired.

True, but since the Speed Rails (Brand of queue rails they use) are cemented into the ground they would need to be cut. I just don't see the need to remove the queue quite yet if another attraction will go in that spot. They could however throw some tables in the area around the planter for guests to eat at since it's right next to La Victoria Cantina.

Weird Coaster Facts

^ Yes exactly. Xcelerator's launch system is only using 60% of it's potential. -

So you don't get wet! Figured as much but then what's the use of the "water" ride to being with? -

I don't 'get' TTD or Kingda Ka

I agree that TTD has the better launch. On KK, the train jolts a bit when the train disengages the catch car which can leave you with that "WTF was that?!" feeling. -

Only reason why there aren't more to the layouts is price. Plain and simple. Intamin (As well as any other designer) will build pretty much anything the client asks for. So it has nothing to do with the manufacturer not wanting to build anything, it's all up to what the client requests. Price tag for TTD is 25mil and KK coming in at 25mil and some change. Pretty hefty price tags as-is and to add 3 or 4 more inversions and some airtime hills will easily add another 8-10 mil to the price tag.
