  1. I would steer clear of any amusement park like the plague during spring break. 3rd week of April (18th-22nd) is Spring Break for LAUSD students.
  2. ^^If they keep that mentality you won't have a place to ride coasters in due time.
  3. ^ Understood and I understand what you were getting at. I'm going to visit the park regardless BUT for someone who's there for their 1st time may or may not return and that gamble is what costs the park money. Also word of mouth can be harmful.
  4. ^^So..................throwup being allowed to marinate on a trash can for hours on end (may have even been from the day before!) is an off season thing? Opening your attractions on time is a peak season thing? Making sure signs and items handed to guests do not have things scribbled out via Sharpee? Mediocrity is permissible in the off season? New attractions being built has nothing to do with keeping the park clean and presentable. I'm not trying to start a flame war but it sounds like you're making excuses for the park. It may have been an off day for the park but inexcusable nonetheless and that 1 day is all that's needed to keep someone from returning.
  5. I wonder how many other models of B & Ms will be sporting that new magnetic braking design when the fin is mounted to the track as opposed to the underside of the train.
  6. ^Being 6' 1" I may have run into the same issues. That was the #1 complaint I heard about Hypersonic. Well that, low capacity, and constant downtime.
  7. Those restraints look uncomfortable......
  8. ^ You can't have 2 "Ks" in 1 park!! That's just asking for trouble.........
  9. ^You're correct. My friend and I approached the dispatcher and asked if 1 checking is the norm. His response was "we only have 2 checking when we have 3 trains operating." Crazy part about that is with just 2 checking they probably still weren't stacking trains. In theory they may be scheduling 2, and maybe staffing issues/park attendance only warrant 1 checking??........In either case I'd rather be waiting in line with 1 bada$$ checking the train than 4 slowpokes checking the train.
  10. ^^Sandor's got a 500ft creation he's been waiting to sell to someone. HaHa jk but in all seriousness I sincerely hope they park doesn't return to it's "2000-2005 era" where downtime, rude/inefficient employees, and cleanliness/upkeep problems were the norm.
  11. ^When I went to SFFT back in summer of '08 there was 1........yes I said 1 operator checking the train and wasn't stacking trains.
  12. ^I wonder if B & M would still provide warranty service. Probably not considering it's over 2 1/2 years old.
  13. They should be able to wheel and deal like a used car. Though it wasn't used for long......
  14. ^^Sad to hear as they were moving in the right direction. Don't get me wrong there was still a lot of work to be done but this past summer was not bad at all. X2 was open at park opening and downtime on all attractions in general was minimal. Park wasn't spotless in terms of trash but you could tell they were making an effort. I cringe to think the park is headed this direction again as that place could be a cash cow if it was ran properly.
  15. With the MCBR being magnetic they will be able to adjust braking force depending on speed of train. An empty train will obviously get less trimming than a fully loaded train.
  16. That looks to be the company that's being used on TG.
  17. ^Is it Velocity Magnetics (Dyna Brake) you're thinking of? That's the company GCI uses for magnetic brakes. I guess we'll have to wait until the MCBR is complete, you're correct.
  18. There should still be some sort of braking mechanism that physically touches the train either a set of drive tires or friction brake calipers. If you look at iSpeed's YouTube pov you'll see magnetic brake fins as well as drive tires. On Bluefire's pov you'll see magnetic brakes in addition to friction brake calipers.
  19. ^^10 o'clock would have been fine if your employees are scheduled accordingly. You're absolutely right about needing employees with more of a sense of urgency. They put a train counter up at X2 which in theory is supposed to motivate the employees to constantly strive to beat the previous hours count but seems like efficiency has actually gone down since that counter was added.
  20. Actually b&m has wheel systems that constantly touch the track on their coaster, but the first B&M dive machines like oblivion only have about 98* drops not vertical because the upstops didn't constantly hold on the track.. And that bit of space has BARELY any effect on the smoothness of the ride and is not what makes arrows and vekomas rough, it has everything to do with their track shaping and their restraints. And that space exists on nearly every coaster in the world, wood or steel, except the dive machines. And for the last time: THE TRAINS WILL NOT AFFECT THE SMOOTHNESS OF THE RIDE, they will ride GREAT i can guarantee just by looking at the type of wheel systems they have. Plus there are no over shoulder restrains so any roughness in shaping will not most likely by felt. But it looks like its pretty well shaped, so overall THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT when it comes to how well this will ride. Remember this is a STEEL coaster now. Not wooden. Considering no one (including you) has been on the ride you can not guarantee anything. Sure the trains look smooth but we will have to wait until it's open before we can "guarantee" anything. In regards to roughness of coasters there's a lot of factors: Maintenance, Train design, track design, etc...... therefore that gap between the upstop and guide wheels that Vekomas and Arrows have, makes a huge difference on how the train rides on the rails.
  21. ^Correction: First B & M with a zero-g roll
  22. If it is a stand-up it will be the first with a zero-g roll
  23. Haha I'm not a fan either. It's rather annoying to be honest. However for those that like it..........enjoy yo'self
  24. ^^You don't like Harry Potter in general or just the land that UO built?
