The Official TPR 2010 Europe Trip Thread

Can someone bury me something in a flower bed at Mirabilandia?? Like, a map to some sort of treasure that you buried somewhere else in the park. I'll be there next week and would really enjoy this. Ok. Thanks. -
Thx for the compliment AND backing me up!! Ha. The log flume is rather elusive in terms of getting a good picture. I debated trying the Ferris Wheel for a better angle, but was short on time and wanted a few more laps on Silver Comet. ALSO!!! I forgot about this, but one of the ride ops on SIlver Comet was dropping MF bombs in front of numerous children. Martin would not be happy.

This Photo TR was originally going to be called Diet Behemoth Bash. Mainly because I planned to hit Martin's Fantasy Island on Friday (6/25), Canada's Wonderland on Saturday (6/26) and Seabreeze/Darien Lake on Sunday (6/27). Well, I made it to all the parks, but my camera didn't. With only minutes to shoot I snapped a few pics at CW before it's battery died. So much for Diet Behemoth Bash. More like Behemoth Bash Zero or Behemoth Bash Free Sample at the Super Market. Anyway, the photos I did get at CW are included with these photos from Martin's Fantasy Island! This is my first attempt at a photo TR. It's also my first attempt at doing anything serious with a camera. As for the park, I loved it. I found it quite similar to Waldameer, but with a bit more charm. Which is good Ok. To the photos! I would LOVE some feedback. Thanks and enjoy (hopefully). The entrance...I arrived at 5:45pm for a discounted .95 ticket. You can't see it, but one of the arrows says "This way to Charmville." I wasn't lying about my time of arrival...or which park I went to. See? It's Charmville. Or Charmtown. Or Charmuffalo. Or, ok, i'll stop. The canoes! Free of charge? Yes. Free of charm? I think not. Onto the rides!! Well, kind of... ...Mega Disk'O lost it's charm at some point... ...it didn't run for the rest of the day. But Flight was running!! It goes really high. Did you know they don't allow single riders on Flight? Do a 180 from Flight and you'll see this. Zamparelaness! Semi-dork shot. Token Ferris Wheel shot. Now, before it gets dark... Silver Comet... ...we pause this lift hill progression for a brief look at the sign... ...ok, back to Silver Comet. Almost there! A different angle. Yes! Finally! And around one of many turns Ok. So, after Martin's I headed to Toronto for Canada's Wonderland (little did I know it was G8/G20 this weekend, ooops). I stayed at the Gladstone Hotel on Queen Street and highly recommend it (not during riots, though). Got some rest and woke up Saturday morning to find it raining (as it did for most of the morning/afternoon). There were a few moments of dryness, though, and I was able to take these... As you can see, it was a dreary day This was around 2pm. Behemoth was testing for some reason? The entrance. Ahhhh...Cedar Fairamount My 2nd time to CW, 1st time on Behemoth <3 Still testing... ...there we go!!! My camera died soon after this last picture However, my visit was MUCH more enjoyable than the first, even with the rain. Less crowds. More B&M Hypers. Good times!! From there I headed to Rochester and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express near Seabreeze. Woke up early. Went to the park for a few hours. Enjoyed it much. Then headed back to Cleveland, stopping at Darien Lake on the way. Well, that's all I got. Hope you enjoyed Behemoth Bash Free Sample at the Super Market 2010! Wooo! -josh

Where?! What packages? I think he means that if you buy one of there Hotel packages you basically buy ERT or you buy a season pass you buy ERT. ( To me I just think they are incentives) If that's what he means then you would be "buying" ERT at Disney, Universal and other Cedar Fair parks, as well. It's not THAT weird or unique, right? -

I agree completely. Loved my Legend experience this year. As for the Voyage, it made me wish for HWN '09. I can only imagine what it was like to ride it in '08 or '07 or '06 if it's progressively getting worse. -

You can snap on the Indiana Beach flyers. I know this because I failed to see the "No Snapping" sign and was ejected from the ride. Rather embarrassing, actually -

FOOD I thought I had a great time at Holliwood Nights '10, but now I'm finding out that I missed loaded baked potato pizza!? WTF!? Was that available during the Friday night meal?? If so, I missed it. Dang. However, I did enjoy Thanksgiving dinner at Plymouth Rock Cafe. It may be the best bang-for-your-buck food purchase in the park (A meat choice, 3 sides, bread, and of course, free drinks for 7.99-9.99). As for the Saturday buffet, the most memorable thing had little to do with the food: Pat Koch's speech. So, so nice. RIDES I don't think anything can top last year's Holliwood Nights (Voyage rides post-thunderstorm, off-in-the-distance lightning illuminating the track), but it was still a fantastic event!! The park was so accommodating with extra ERT and comp tickets to make up for the absence of the Timberliners. Wildebeest was great, but I don't have anything to compare it to. Got 3 rides on it during ERT experiencing different amounts of air time with each one. The front was not as enjoyable as I expected with numerous amounts of spraying and splashing blurring my vision. Voyage DID seem a bit rougher than I remember it to be. *fingers crossed* that the Timberliners will help smooth things out. The Legend has really grown on me. I love it more than ever. Also, the Raven continues to deliver. Love, love, love it!!! CABINS AT LAKE RUDOLPH Cockroaches and cold water. Other than that they were nice (Trying to stay positive). OVERALL Another amazing experience in Santa Claus, Indiana. Visited the Christmas Store this year. Yay fudge. Can't wait for 2011!! P.S. spaceace12, my friend Allison and I are in your 2nd Wildebeest photo (front and second-to-front) -

I think it's easy to forget how ground breaking the inverted roller coaster concept really was. Though I was much younger, I can remember everyone being completely baffled by the presence of Raptor. Now, an invert? They're commonplace, expected at any major park (another testament to the significance of B&M). Maybe so, but still, they took these concepts and made them tolerable. Smooth, reliable, four-across seating (another innovation!). I think you're grasping at straws here. EVERYTHING is a gimmick. I'm not going to discredit Pizza Hut because they discovered that it would be smart to stuff cheese into a crust. It was there for the taking, no one else did it, so they did, and bam, innovation points!! I could say that, but I won't. Because what I observe with my eyes is completely different from what it actually takes to engineer a roller coaster. That'd be like me saying I can water ski because I've been snow skiing all my life. Bottom line, I think you have to give B&M the props they deserve. Steel roller coasters were, in my opinion, incredibly stale until this company came along. I mean, all you had really was a plethora of boomerangs, corkscrews, arrow loopers and a bad ass hyper. -
Just finished You Don't Know Jack, an HBO Original starring Al Pacino as Jack Kevorkian a.k.a. Doctor Death! Pacino was stellar. Highly recommend it!!

I'm not sure conservative is the right word. Maybe complacent. I'd say the company has a rich history of innovation. -

So, Washington vs. Montreal tonight...If La Ronde and Six Flags America faced-off in a hockey game, who would win?? Six Flags America has the edge, right? I mean, don't get me wrong, La Ronde has the depth and grit to take this one, but their bruisers can get the best of 'em. I'm specifically referring to Boomerang, Cobra, Dragon and Super Manège. They do have a legitimate star in Goliath, probably the best player in tonight's line-up, but Six Flags America brings the star power, too. Superman: Ride of Steel has been consistent for the past 10 years. And, of course, who can forget the wily veteran play of Wild One? I think it'll come down to the supporting cast of the second lines, Batwing, Joker's Jinx and Roar vs. Vampire, Monstre and Toboggan Nordique. Well, I'm a loser Go CANADIENS! -
For the record, I agree

I think they should run the train backwards. -
^First, thanks for elaborating. I was just trying to articulate the idea that certain products (in this case, Trans Fats) are considered dangerous and need a larger entity to monitor their usage, much like we do with illegal narcotics, asbestos or Toyotas. No matter the press, I still think it's hard for people to wrap their mind around a tasty sandwich being as dangerous as the above three items. I guess my argument is that they are. So, I felt to support the point, I should list the reasons why

2009 Theme Park Attendance Report
CoasterBoyJosh replied to knottslover77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would say that in their defense they had a lot of bad luck this year weather wise. I can only remember only a few good weather Saturdays all season. I can also only remember only one or two good Halloweekend Saturdays. I'm not saying weather was the only problem, but I'm sure that they would have at least had 3 million if the weather was less crappy on the weekends in 2009. I'm guessing the absence of a significant investment, along with the awful Michigan/Ohio economies were the main factors Also, why the bump for Busch Gardens Williamsburg?? BBW closure?? -
I get the sarcasm, but still don't get the point.

^That added nothing. Move along. Or at least add a smiley face

How many of you were unlucky enough to experience both the looping and post-looping SoB?? Do you count that as two credits?? -
^^There it is! The what-will-the-government-control-next?/slippery slope argument. I knew someone would use that cliche babble soon enough I agree. The government shouldn't decide what we eat...to a certain extent. Trans Fats, consumed mostly from partially hydrogenated oil commonly found in many fried foods (.5 grams in a KFC Double Down), raise your LDL (bad cholesterol levels) and lower your HDL (good cholesterol levels). They make you more at risk for heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. Oh yea, they make you really fruggin fat, too. There's absolutely no nutritional benefit from consuming Trans Fats. Repeat: THERE IS NO NUTRITIONAL BENEFIT FROM CONSUMING TRANS FATS. In fact, ask any doctor and they'll tell you how downright UNSAFE Trans Fats are. Which leads me to this question: If numerous doctors (you know, those people in white coats who went to school for 12 years to study the human anatomy) are telling me to stay away, don't you think we ought to listen up? Now, I know many of you probably have listened up and couldn't care less, and that's fine, but there is that minority of innocence that has no idea what's being put into their body. And with how cheap and convenient Fast Food is for so many in this country, someone needs to watch out for those at risk. And when you're dealing with massive food-producing conglomerates, the government is the only entity that has the reach to legitimately help. Now, whether or not fast food corporations should be held accountable for America's obesity problems is another debate, I'm not arguing that. But to disallow the government the ability to regulate these companies and their restaurants which are guilty of injecting Poison Lite into our freedom fries is ridiculous (too dramatic?). We sometimes DO need the government to decide, or at least answer the call of a blown whistle. P.S. If you're regularly consuming these unnecessary fats, you might want to consider an asbestos dish-making course to compliment your dangerous meals
