  1. Let me quote myself, as I last posted this on the last page and nobody saw- "On another note, why does SFMM neuter Green Lantern (I think the cars are weighed for balance) and then does balanced loading? One ride op told me last year that it was because if a car comes into the station upside down, it must be righted by maintenance crews."
  2. Yes. Every time I go to Europe or Asia it makes me hate the American parks more and more. (especially those from one company that I won't name but I'm sure you can figure it out...) Something that kinda rhymes with Mixed Rags On another note, why does SFMM neuter Green Lantern (I think the cars are weighed for balance) and then does balanced loading? One ride op told me last year that it was because if a car comes into the station upside down, it must be righted by maintenance crews.
  3. I finally rode it a few days ago, and I feel the same way. I think it's just a fun little joke that enthusiasts have caught on to, rather than anyone's real opinion - I've been on about 250 coasters so far, and there are significantly worse ones out there. No competition at all. I suspect part of it might be people getting angry at the ridiculously slow operations - waiting 30 minutes in the station, sitting in the brake run so long that they have an operator doing standup over the PA to keep you occupied. After all that waiting for such a boring coaster I think people come off with worse opinions than the ride experience itself deserves. Yeah. Why does the ride have seatbelts, then a stapling lap bar that nearly jams, and then ANOTHER belt that is hard to connect and literally attaches the lap bar to the seat? Do you really need all that?
  4. Why does SFMM neuter their rides? And climbing a Starflyer? Does Europe have some sort of magic touch that North America doesn't?
  5. My local news in Toledo picked up on this- http://www.toledonewsnow.com/story/25857358/cyclone-at-six-flags-riverside-closes-after-31-year-ride?clienttype=generic&utm_content=buffer9c198&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer The Facebook post, on the other hand, said this- Cyclone isn't that big. Luckily, the comments contain few GP-isms. The ones that are there are a complaint about woodies being "too rickety" and somebody who thought that Gemini was steel (who was quickly corrected.)
  6. Sounds cool. Hopefully Golden Horse will improve their manufacturing for your design - it looks quite awesome. I also hope that someday you get the opportunity to go freely with your designs. Maybe you could design an airtime machine. It's nice that you're willing to connect with coaster enthusiast communities like TPR.
  7. Let's wait for Cedar Fair to bring RMC to Ohio first.
  8. Coaster Consortium is a group on Facebook. They just posted this- http://www.worldofscreamspodcast.com/news/six-flags-entertainment-corporation-to-debut-new-theme-parks-in-china
  9. Forceless does not mean non-creative. I mean, how is something like GateKeeper not creative?
  10. How do you know this? But anyways, it seems like Golden Horse would be better off increasing their accuracy than re-manufacturing track a crapton of times. I don't get how they can get away with one meter of difference... even with re-manufacturing. Do they just change the layout to compensate when they screw up a track piece?
  11. Because they aren't in America. There is a reason why we like to travel internationally so much. While many American parks will build amazing coasters (that are usually only amazing for the first few years of their operation), outside of Disney, Universal, and a few others, American parks do not even compare to most of the European and Asian parks in terms of theming, atmosphere, customer service, and overall quality. Yes, but is there a reason that American parks seem somewhat half-baked sometimes?
  12. Why is Grizzly considered the worst woodie in the world? It is horribly boring, but not very rough. I'm sure other woodies offer more unpleasant experiences.
  13. What do you mean "track difference"... like the accuracy? Wow, 2 inches? How do they connect the track if it is so imperfect? Or am I misunderstanding?
  14. So RCDB's Facebook alerted me to this new company, who is designing rides. I believe they are German or asssociated with a German company. This sounds good, right? Read what they put on NoLimits Exchange- TL;DR - A new company has gone through the legal process to do work with Jin Ma Rides (GOLDEN HORSE) and is designing coasters, including a 16-inversion coaster, for which clients have been found. Golden horse. AKA Chinese Knockoff Company. I don't know what to make of this... I'm debating whether or not to call BS on this. Their YouTube shows a variety of renderings of their work, including brand-new lap bar trains for the 16-inversion coaster. However, I would have found a better manufacturer than Golden Horse... I guess that was the best they could find. So assuming this is real, do you think that the new designer will win over Golden Horse's manufacturing and produce a smooth ride? Or will Golden Horse mess up an otherwise awesome idea and lead to more death machines?
  15. Why do these parks seem to always have better operations, better airtime machines, and more interesting things than American parks?
  16. I really wish american parks saw us the same way you do... Sadly they see the 2 or 3 careless peoples and the rest pay for their stupidity. How sad is our continent ? I'm not familiar with Canada, but knowing that it is fairly similar to the US, do you have all the bubble-wrapping there like we do here?
  17. There is friendliness on Outlaw Run and Goliath vs Intamin T-Bars. My cousin always struggles to go on MF or Top Thill, he didn't on Outlaw Run. The lap bars are designed more to form to your leg where the T-Bars seam to be flatter. I hope this helps you! Ah. I fit on MF and TTD with little trouble, so good.
  18. I guess in some ways. WHY????? OH THE HORROR!
  19. Why can't America have all the good stuff? We're just as smart as our cousins in Europe and Japan (or at lest approaching that.) Not all Americans are bumbling apes of carelessness...
  20. Theme Park Review posts Piraten picture saying it is better than 99% of coasters. Some people say MF is better, but as a CF fanboy who loves to bash SFMM, let me see what their fans bring to the comments table- If you wanna go fishing for more weird and wonderful comments, the post is here-
  21. Local news reported that MF riders had to be evaced via maintenance cart- http://www.13abc.com/story/25814453/riders-get-stuck-on-millennium-force-at-cedar-point
  22. Unforgiving restraints? How would it compare to Intamin t-bars in terms of unfriendliness to large riders?
  23. I can stand Time Warp, Arrow/Vekoma loopers, etc... Rough woodies, not as much (depends how the roughness is), but Mean Streak is not very rough to me. Of course, I won't be going to China for coasters anytime soon. I'll be going to China next spring, but on a guided tour that doesn't involve amusement parks.
  24. This is probably just speculation or routine maintenance, but there are a few markings near the front of the park.
  25. Hopefully soon. They're going down the SF route using lots of lockers, so maybe they can incorporate the positive aspects too (Intamin and RMC rides.) I hope SF doesn't have an exclusive deal with RMC.
