  1. Most log flumes don't have airtime... oh, wait. Yup, it's a log flume. I'm still mad about the super-neuter. I understand that the original slide was unsafe, but couldn't they redesign the hill in such a way that there's a little airtime? Maybe make the hill just a little less intense and then put up walls and nets like the slide in Italy? That was allowed to operate. I'm sure you could have that much airtime on a 400lb raft and have relatively little flying off the slide. Or would that not affect it, like how "normal" gravity does not depend on weight? But hey, but if it is a log flume, at least Robb has another ride to sing his song on!
  2. While I understand that there were severe injuries, why kind of vehicle should there be? Should riders be superglued into a giant bubble wrapped pod? I'm hoping that this lawsuit doesn't get too ridiculous. If it was the park's fault, he has every right to sue. If it was the park's fault, the park should pay for his expenses. However, I hope this guy's lawsuit isn't too much money. Plus, we don't know who is at fault.
  3. Age rules are unenforceable and somewhat unfair. I mean, by unfair, you can have an idiot 15 year old or a smart, rule-abiding 12 year old. And by unenforceable, you can have a 13-year old who looks 14 with no ID to prove that he is not old enough, or a 15-year-old who looks like a 13-year-old.
  4. I don't support scales. I fit on most Intamins despite being at the alleged "weight limit" of 230lb. Weight is not the determining factor, it's shape.
  5. It has airtime, and it would be decent, fly-out-of-your-seat-but-not-too-intense airtime, but the new restraints sorta mess it up. Forceful? Well, it sorta is in the giant "Norwegian combo" (That's what I call it, since it is a COMBO of separate inversions that vaguely resemble a NORWEGIAN loop)... GK, MF, and Mantis are the only rides that have made me partially grey out at CP. I guess it is because you brace yourself for super-forceful elements like Raptor's helix.
  6. Eeeeexactly. For the majority of TTD's launch track guests can get a few feet away across a fence which would not completely stop flying metal, a snapped cable, or a loose cell phone. And nobody has been hurt. It sorta surprises me, thinking about Rita (snapped cable falls onto midway under launch track) and all that. Good idea (sorta.) Although it should not be needed, you know how I am about theme park "bubble-wrapping", but this is something that I can deal with. Heck, it might open the door to KK/Z:DoD running together. One thing - do Velcro pockets count for this rule? However, seeing how Morey's Piers does this, it is completely stupid that you can't hold chapstick, etc. in your pockets. And do they mean metal detectors on rides at Morey's Piers? OK, this is stupid now. Wow. WOW. Just inspect the trees! That has to be cheaper than cutting them all down!
  7. Are you sure you don't mean BEST case scenario? I can think of a considerable number of ways this could have been a lot worse. I think what Ape meant was that the coaster kept its riders relatively safe despite one of the worst possible situations for the ride - a large foreign object obstructing the wheels of a coaster below the tracks while it was (relatively) high above the ground.
  8. I can see how they mess it up with 97, although if they've ever seen a Eurofighter, they should know. I hope they know what 90 degrees is... probably just an honest mistake. Hey, at least he/she knows what a Eurofighter is!
  9. Sometimes, in a small fall, a good solid blow to the head is all that it takes Head trauma is a likely cause of death, considering that from my experiences on Green Lantern, the final, tight "turn" of a ZacSpin is where you are most likely to be inverted. Or did he fall out right after the ride slowed down? It's kinda hard to pinpoint what the news is talking about considering the unusual layout of a ZacSpin. The restraint is likely designed to take a weight higher than any rider under a high g-load. The seatbelt is also probably certified for high force. I cannot see how this accident happened. If this was mechanical failure whether than improper restraining, could there have been a failure of the seat itself? That is probably even more unlikely, but nobody has thought of it yet.
  10. Do new B&Ms really deserve such hate? 'Tis a joke, laddie. That being said, B&Ms aren't as "forceful" as they were back in the days of Nemesis and Kumba, although I hear that Banshee is a step in the right direction. I know. But joking or not, I hate to see giant multi-million dollar investments be compared to family or kiddie coasters. Then don't post here. Disclaimer! You need a sense of humor to view our site, if you don't have a sense of humor, or are easily offended, please turn back now! And yes, I feel that most of the B&Ms in the past ten years are about on par with a family coaster. I understand. Trust me, I have a sense of humor. See: Scream comment a few posts back On another note, it may sound stupid, but wing coasters actually have some aspects that even the most forceful B&M can't have. For example, on Gatekeeper's Immelmann, it is a unique experience being rotated off the heartline that you don't always expect. Not to mention every other horizontal rolling inversion on Gatekeeper, but the Immelmann is where I seem to be surprised the most.
  11. How can you even for a moment put the blame on Intamin when there are so few details released??? This is a ride that has run for over 7 years without incident in a part of the world that has had some issues with ride maintenance before. (Hi, remember the flat ride that just collapsed at Tibidabo?) I'd personally put a bit more speculation into it being a maintenance issue than a problem with Intamin. Although Intamin may have more accidents, and that is unusual, one must always remember that coasters are safer than essentially any form of transportation.
  12. I heard that Green Lantern was also listed as temporarily closed due to the Inferno accident.
  13. The news should reassure people that coasters are safe. The accident itself is shocking enough.
  14. Was the tree branch the cause or did it hit the tree after the failure?

  19. I could be wrong, but it sounds like a new coaster to me. I guess it could be a dark ride. However, the park GM is making it seem like it will be a kick-butt ride, and on the matter of dark rides, Disney and Universal are really the only ones that make truly kick-butt dark rides in my opinion. Regardless of if their next coaster is coming next year, or later on, it really should be a quality wooden coaster (something from RMC or GCI). If it's an RMC, I think Mean Streak should go to the junkyard and be replaced by a brand new woodie. I don't understand why most enthusiasts are dying for it to be Iron Horsed because the layout looks boring to me: it's seems like just a bunch of slightly-banked turns with only a few opportunities for airtime. Thing about having those turns undulate up and down in a banked turn with bunny hops. Or a double up on the overbank.
  20. Saw it not too long ago - rented it along with Fifty First Dates to see the SFDK walruses starring in a movie. Anyways... Restore Revolution 2016! It could be a great ride with new trains and less trims (and maybe some reprofiling of the first half to keep it from crawling along the first few hills.) Do you think SFMM could advertise this?
  21. We have blueprints- https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203008330747237&set=pcb.711392258931812&type=1&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203008330667235&set=pcb.711392258931812&type=1&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203008330787238&set=pcb.711392258931812&type=1&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203008330827239&set=pcb.711392258931812&type=1&theater Looks like Leviathan with a giant helix section added on. Also, the blueprints are here- http://www.screamscape.com/html/carowinds.htm
  22. I meant a bystander got struck. By the way, does NJ have the most strict "safety" regulations of any state? Or does that "honor" go to California or some other state?
  23. Was that state-mandated or a SF decision? TTD at CP has a queue right under the launch track and guests can get a few feet away from it across a "chain link" type fence that definitely would not stop shards of metal or a snapping cable. (On another note, TTD has had its cable fray once, injuring some people on the train.) Didn't somebody get their eye poked out by a shard of metal at the KK incident? I could have sworn I heard that somewhere. I also heard that the line was closed in part not just because of the incident, but also because of loose change, etc.
  24. Hopefully by then, the state will allow both rides to run at the same time so Ka isn't affected by Zumanjaro anymore. GADV is still fighting the state about this. don't plan on the state to ever allow it, 9 yrs later, Ka never went back to the original layout of the que and guest viewing area. What happened to KK's queue? Was it like TTD's today? Wasn't it due to an incident during testing or the early days of operation?
