Vekoma Roller Coasters
Tmcdllr replied to kingdakacor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think a very good point was made earlier about the roughness of the SLC being related to the sear design and not really the wheel gap and although the Invertigo has better padding is has a more rigid chassis which makes it a bit smoother. It totally makes sense, the more the seats are allowed to move the more you are going to get thrown into the restraint. I'm not saying this alone is the cause as the layout seems bad as far as transitions, but it certainly does not help. I wonder how much of an improvement a new SLC train design would make, its got to improve it at least a little. Hmmm, what would a B&M version of Deja Vu be like, or Intamin? I realize the impulse coasters are similar but not the same layout. -
Vekoma Roller Coasters

Well by that reasoning then you can say B&M is dull and generic, building clones with the exact same layout, or have you never heard of Batman, Batman, and Batman. And the dive machines are all basically the same ride. Intamin is probably guilty of this too, but to a lesser degree. And you can't really fault one of them for doing it. Face it, if you develop a ride that becomes popular and several parks want it, are you going to tell them no and lose millions of dollars for that project? Bottom line is these companies don't care about cloning so much because the more of the clones they can sell, the millions more they will make and if their customers are happy with the clones then it doesn't matter. I am not too keen on clones but there is nothing we can do about it and a clone is better than nothing at all so bashing Vekoma and no one else does not make sense because they ALL do it. -
One thing to consider when you talk about how much headbanging Vortex has (and it is a lot), is the seat assembly, the entire part that slides up and down to adjust the the rider height. If you compare Riddler's to Vortex, there is one HUGE difference...Riddler's are very tight, meaning they ONLY move up and down to adjust. Vortex, on the other hand, has a lot of slop in the assembly which allows for a lot of sideways movement which amplifies you getting thrown into the restraints when the train makes a directional change. If they could tighten these up to be like Riddler's, get rid of the slop so they can only move up and down, I think it will cut down on a lot of the headbanging. It won't get rid of it all simply because the nature of this ride with the tight turns and changes but the sloppy seats are certainly making it a lot worse.

Holiday Park Discussion Thread

^It wasn't a "lift stall"... it was a major mechanical breakdown (lift chain broken, riders stranded for hours, made national news) and investigation which caused it to take so long so saying that is just silly because the ride was not just down because it was 'broken' but also because they had to wait for the investigation to conclude, which is not the park's doing. -

Well of course. The easiest and fastest way to fix a ride that has two trains crash into each other is to remove one train....it can't hit what isn't there.... Lol -
I was going too say that you seen to have a lot of anger, but you know what... I kind of agree with your comments and nothing is more frustrating than when a park build up a new ride, then when it does open it doesn't live up to the hype and what's interesting is many new rides sound like they are going to be incredible but turn out to be almost half assed done. This ride was billed to go 100 mph, but it doesn't for whatever reason, and that's a shame. Over marketing? Expectations too high? ...maybe both.

That makes sense but then why don't you see this on other coasters that use similar wheels? -
It could very well be an inverted coaster, it does not all have to fit in that footprint and if its what they want, they will find a way to put one there. Wasn't there a coaster there before Hurricane? I seem to remember a Speedracer type ride there. I agree about a Wildmouse, a spinning Wildmouse would be a lot of fun and would be a good fit for the Boardwalk

I've only seen this on Intamin coasters but have always wondered. What are those little flap things on the wheel assembly that drag on the track for? -
From the looks of this, to date, it appears to be the ultimate GCII masterpiece, too bad it isn't being built here but maybe after this one is up it will spawn construction of something like it in the U.S. "Oh. My. God." Sums it up pretty good and I would just simply add "WOW!". In the pic of the model, looks like there is a tunnel near the end of the ride.....sweeet!

I agree and as for capacity, talking about THBS, when I rode it at SFDK, the line was long, but all the cars were running and the line was constantly moving so I see no issue there, if it is something like that I would imagine they would have the same number of cars if not more at MM. Honestly, this early into it, how can anybody (including myself) even speculate on capacity. For all we know, this is not going to be a coaster but a new, super awesome restroom complex with self flushing toilets, touchless faucets, "hands free" wiping machines, and those really cool Dyson Blade hand dryers, those things are frikin' sweet!
