  1. Aren't they still investigating the accident?
  2. I noticed that too, it almost seems like part of the video is missing and what is strange is that they already know the layout of the kids coaster and the location (and it has been built once before), so why not have it in there? They have a new coaster in there that hasn't even been built yet. If this is about the name that doesn't make sense, they could still put the coaster in and just call it what it is for now, then when they decide, change it before it gets released. But since this video was leaked this may not be the version we see when they make the announcement.
  3. Apparently the people of Santa Clara are morons. Not only is this going to be bad for noise issues, but traffic will be a big giant nightmare. It doesn't matter what they do it will still be horrible. It's a shame the people of Santa Clara got snowed into this stadium scam.
  4. Well since you won't be riding it more for us!
  5. You can't really judge how this will operate by the animation. I mean really, watch the part when it is the POV of Superman, (at about 38 seconds in the video) there is like 10 seconds of hangtime on the tower which we all know is exaggerated in the video because in reality you may get up to 6 seconds.
  6. Way early but I expect the 19th coaster to be amazing and the 20th to be totally epic, can you imagine, 20 rollercoasters! That would be an unbelievable number of coasters in one park and if this Zac Spin is a an indication of who they might come from one of them just might be a Mega Lite. I'm so happy this park is moving forward in this direction and I hope it only gets better. When I used to go there 30 years ago never in a million years would I have thought that it would grow to the awesomeness that it has today. This is so exciting!
  7. I wondered about that too. With the wheels being smaller they will rotate faster so you would think the surface and the bearings could wear faster. But then you gotta figure their rides like KK and TTD, that go faster than 100mph use similar wheels/bearings/bogeys and I dont remember ever hearing about any wheel problems with those, have you? So it appears Intamin has engineered better, smaller wheel assemblies for this ride. The Zac Spin is incredible and I am just amazed at all the innovations Intamin has produced. I cant wait to see what their next big thing will be, I'm sure it will be incredible.
  8. Good for Intamin for finally getting one of these installed here, maybe a certain nor cal park will take a hint and put in something similar.
  9. I dont care if it has low capacity or is croch smashing, ok I care about that, but I am still really excited to try it. Way to go MM this is so great!
  10. Do it Guy, that would be cool. DO IT! I would for sure check out your blogs. Okay so what is project 19?
  11. Wow, I totally did not see this coming, awesome!
  12. Yes and those brakes are probably the most copied design out there. Vekoma, Zamperla, and others have copied this same design with slight differences, but they all operate the same...air close spring open.
  13. B&M brakes are double acting, they use air to open and close, they hiss both ways. It may not be as loud because of adjustments, etc but they do.
  14. Los Angeles Times Programming problems, interesting. Programming problems that led to the zone protection system failing?... could be.
  15. This "no coaster-we get the shaft again" nonsense really pisses me off! That place needs an amazing new coaster... NOW!
  16. Demon wasn't originally Demon when the coaster opened. The original coaster fit the country fair theme. If I recall correctly, the ride opened as Turn of the Century, and only had two corkscrews, no vertical loops. The management later added the tunnels and the loops and renamed it Dremon further pushing it into the land of Headbanging. That is correct!
  17. Just out of curiosity, have they announced what they are doing for 2011? I don't remember if they did but I believe it's zilch again.
  18. I like the Jr. suspended, throw a couple of inversions in there and you have a winner. But, if the boardwalk put in one of these... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5TDkANxFn4 ...it would be a lot more thrilling, I think, and would fit the boardwalk. There was a rumor that they were going to replace Hurricane with a suspended coaster, the only one I can think of that would perfectly fit is the Jr. suspended.
  19. I am fairly certain I am correct here, but most (if not all) coaster use air pressure to keep the brakes open, Therefore if there was a total failure of the air systems on the ride all of the brakes would immediatly close and no accidents would occur. I did always think however that after the train had past on launched coasters the brake fins came back up to prevent a roll-back?! Okay, let's say that is true. What do you think closes the brakes? I'll give you a hint, it's not springs. The pinch brakes use air to close and springs to open. See here's the thing. Each brake and it's reserve tank are their own entity. It would be impossible for the complete air system to totally and completely fail. Let's say there was a failure of the main line. The brakes all still close because of the air pressure built up in the reserve tanks, that CLOSES them. Let's say the main line and one of the sets of brakes also are damaged, causing a massive air leak at that brake. Doesn't matter, all of the other brakes can still close under pressure simply because they each have a reserve tank that always has pressure built up in it. And, I have to point this out again because it is so painfully obvious... Why do you hear the loud hiss of air escaping the brake when it opens but NOT when it closes? The loud hiss is the compressed air being released to allow the springs to open the brakes. You do not hear this when they close because the air is being forced into the brake to close it.
  20. ^All of that seriously needs to change... Especially for CGA. At least DK is getting something decent.
  21. Interesting....what could the cables be for?
