Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Tmcdllr replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Like I was explaining, if that happened the brakes should have stopped the train at the bottom, so if so why didn't they? The brakes will not open until the train has passed a sensor on the lift telling the PLC it is high enough up to make it through the course, unless that system has failed. So I think the train being released too early is probably not it. Depending on the condition of the train, if it was really hot there that may have caused this. What was the weather like that day? -
Wow, that's kind of super picky. That's not rattle. Rattle is a Vekoma SLC that sounds like it is totally falling apart as it violently bashes your head into the restraint, you can almost see the wheels flying off the train one-by-one as it lumbers around the track. B&M and Intamin coasters don't really do that.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

That doesn't make sense because there are brakes in the station and at the base of the second lift that stay closed until the train is high enough up the lift that it will make it through the course when released, this is true on both lifts. So if for some reason the train is released too early the brakes will stop it in the station or the bottom of the loop to prevent this from happening, unless somehow this system has totally failed. So because of that I'm wondering if this was train/wheel related. -

Now there's a concept! This is what themeparks should be doing with the food. Talk about a great food experience, craving for it, you can't get any better than that! Now if they could pull that off then the prices might be justified. It just seems so wrong to serve crappy food for outrageous prices....seriously! Where I work, the food is slightly expensive but that's because it is always fresh and cooked to order, everytime by professional chefs. Now if we ran it like a themepark we would soon be closing our doors. I'm not saying they need professional chefs but there has got to be a way to improve the quality of the food they currently serve or are they of the mentality that its a themepark and they just assume the GP expects to pay through the nose for crappy food because they don't expect any better. Its really sad when the chain restaurants inside the park serve food that is worse than getting it at the same chain restaurant outside of the park, could it at least be close to the same quality? I remember years ago on one of the coaster shows they were at MM and the food and beverage manager was boasting about the high quality of the food they served....yeah right!

Oh I'm sure they could find a way to screw those up, don't worry. I almost never eat in the park, it makes absolutely no sense to get totally ripped off and have nothing to show for it but terrible food. Why is it like this? If this was just a food place outside the park it would never last and soon go out of business so why does it have to be this way in the park? I'm surprised they make any money at all on their "food". For the prices they charge they could at least TRY to give you decent food. I had over priced pizza there once....OMG NEVER AGAIN! Let's just say the experience was unpleasant. The one bright spot would be the Mooseburger Lodge, it was ok but still too much.

Seems to me landlocked parks like CGA and other parks like CP who just want to expand, would be wise to invest in a parking structure. Are there any parks currently that have one? And how is it working out for them? -

Alright, I'm going to agree with you there. They were being stupid end of story. Just call it a lack of age thing (I'm pretty sure 40 trumps 18 in this case). I still believe that it was a horrific story though. Yeah it was awful, terrible, horrible, all of that, but once again stupidity rears its ugly head, and I agree with you about the age thing. I remember seeing that story on the news here, it was just, terrible. Eventhough they were complete idiots I would not wish that on anybody. I don't know, or want to, what would be worse, being involved in an accident like that or the Mindbender one. -

So then what were they intending to do? Anybody with half a brain should know not to do something like that. They intended to cause problems which resulted in the ride falling, therefore it is their fault as their neglegence caused that to happen.
