Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I have a feeling that it will, I know the ride isn't Ouimet's brainchild, but he has made the park look so much better then it has in recent years and I don't see him just allowing the brand new statement ride to the entrance of the park fly over pavement without any effort in landscaping to some degree. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
coasterdude2011 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't say I'm surprised, Carowinds has had many large additions lately and it only seems right for them to follow the Dino's trend. It also makes sense that Valleyfair and Worlds of Fun are both rumored to get one. -
The boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Dorney Park last weekend and I was so incredibly grateful. Dorney has been a park that I have been eyeing down ever since they got Demon Drop and Possessed. We took the 7.5 hour drive, primarily along I-80 (most uneventful highway) and got to the park around noon. The heat index was supposed to be around 105 degrees so thankfully the park was dead on a Saturday during the day while Wildwater Kingdom took all of the lines. Here's my reviews on the coasters and the park! Possessed (8/10) : First coaster of the day, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Wicked Twister is one of my favorite rides so I knew I would love this bad boy. The launch was weak compared to Wicked Twister, but the holding brake made up for it. One of the few "I'm gonna die" moments on a coaster I've had in a long time. Stinger (6.5/10) : Second one of the year after traveling down to King's Island. The logo of the ride makes it awesome no matter what, but I found it a tad smoother then its sister in Ohio, but still had some nice Vekoma jerks in it. Nice station music and the GP were eating it up. Steel Force (7/10) : I was really looking forward to it, and it just left me wanting more, It was not bad by any means, but I just kind of felt it was awkward. The airtime was just kinda weird, I can't really describe it other then it felt like floater air time that slammed you back in your seat after. My favorite part was the helix, so good. Thunderhawk (5/10) : Another ride I wanted to love but just really got beat up badly on. It might be because of the fact we didn't ride front, but between the rough jerks, the incredibly awkward first bunny hill and the hard trims at the end one ride was enough. Wild Mouse (3/10) : I have never been so disappointed in a ride crew ever. Every single car was half empty and the line took so long. There was no sense of putting four people in a car, if two people came though the line they got their own car, and instead of the next two going on that car, they got their own. The ride itself was kinda brutal, the hairpins were untrimmed, and everything else was trimmed to stop. Only needed one ride also. Hydra (8.5/10) : Jojo roll. Jojo roll. Jojo roll. Loved every second of that inversion and wish I saw it on more coasters. This was my first floorless, and that being said the floorless effect didn't do too much for me. The ride however was very fun, very smooth, was incredibly rerideable, and thats what I did 5 times. Talon (10/10) : I was not expecting much from this but this thing blew me away. I loved the first half and the typical series of inversions like on my home invert of Raptor. But the second half blew me away all starting with the helix after the immelman, the foot chopper drop into the on ride photo, the intense corkscrew, the even more intense low helix, and the pop of air into the brakes made it amazing. Rode this about 6 times and loved every single ride. Other notable mentions Demon Drop : Such a fun drop ride and wish Cedar Point still had it, glad it has a new home at Dorney. Dominator : Demon Drop > Dominator. Thunder Creek Mountain : I believe this is what the log flume was called, I loved it and how it interacted with the coasters and terrain perfectly. Revolution : Good frisbee with a not so good short program. Apollo : Biggest flat ride surprise, was a fun little ride that I wish more parks had. Overall the park was very nice, great collection of rides for a park of its size. My biggest problem was the park's clientele. They literally were line jumping, saw two or three fights almost start, and just lots of rude people. However still had a great visit and definitely worth a stop in the area!

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I agree, Cedar Point's ride ops are second to none. Whenever I visit another amusement park I always find the operations worse then Cedar Points. I was there last night and they were hauling on every ride. -
I am currently planning a trip to Kings Dominion, I live in Northern Ohio so it is a drive so I'm dedicating a full day of travel both there and back. I noticed that Six Flags America is not too far away and if I leave early enough I am hoping to get the park on time and get the credits in. My problem though is I am a broke college student who is trying to save so, my question is does Six Flags America have any starlight admission (couldn't see online) if not do any area stores sell discount tickets and, if they do not have starlight is it better to go during the evening of the day I drive down, and or the morning the day I drive back. This is a park where I just need the credits and I'm gone.

According to Screamscape, Six Flags St. Louis asked if guests would be interested in an Invertigo for one of their options, this screams Two Face. Other survey choices ware a Zac Spin and Mega Disko. -
If thats true then the operations will definitely suffer. In theory it should work, but things happen when loading and unloading a ride and the rides might counteract each other. For instance if a very large guest goes on Lex Luther can't fit and is struggling to get on, then that will affect Superman's operations.

I personally find the front seat very very smooth. I easily recommend that and its probably a fifteen minute wait at max for it now, less then that because it's Mean Streak -
I live roughly 5 hours away from Michigan's Adventure just west of Sandusky, Ohio. Michigan's Adventure is that one stubborn park that I just cannot include in a trip because it is so awkwardly located with nothing really around it. So anyways, I am going to the park on June, 23 and it appears I will have from 12:30 to 6:30-7 to ride the rides. Is this enough to get everything done on a Saturday with hopefully a reride or two on Shivering Timbers? Normally I'd know I'd be fine but since its a Saturday in June I'm worried. Thanks!

Kings Island and Cedar Point have extremely different thrill rides, they share the same amusement park staples like any other park does and a wind seeker which almost every major Cedar Fair park has. Yea they might share the same type of coaster like Flight Deck and Iron Dragon or Adventure Express and Mine Ride, but their individual ride experiences differ dramatically. Going back to the wing coaster, I am so excited to see a B&M at the park again. Not only is this ride going to interact with the entrance and it is finally going to show off that beautiful beach that has been hidden by a big, giant box. Space Spiral has not worked consistently for the past ten years and I know it might be an icon, but at this point it is a giant lawn ornament. Can't wait to see the official layout of this bad boy and the first significant change to the entrance of the park since Raptor. -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I normally do not post on here incredibly often, and I honestly respect your opinions, but I feel as if you have it out for Cedar Point and Cedar Fair as a chain. I remember you smiting them for removing Wildcat and just thought it was a little out of proportion, and same with increasing Fast Lane by five dollars. All of these up charge attractions are optional. No one has to go pay for them in order for them to go to the park besides the parking option. Dealing with parking, platinum passes are always available, that personally has saved me so much money visiting the park. To the families who visit once, yes parking is twelve dollars, and that makes me frustrated as well, but its better then seeing Six Flags parks charging 20 bucks to park your car. Regarding "Little Tommy Spoiledrotten" convincing his parents, at least in the Sandusky/Cleveland/Toledo/Detroit area, the area is very financially challenged, where my family of four can go to Cedar Point as a whole every other year. So Cedar Point knows that they can only get away with so much before "Little Tommy Spoliedrotten" is just told no because its not affordable anymore. Parks will take as much as they can get until people just stop going. Regarding the park this year, I've been thrilled with it, the operations have been fantastic, Mean Streak is actually running incredibly well, handicapped elevators or ramps are available on nearly every ride, much more attention to detail, better food, Soak City got a nice addition and revamp, new lights everywhere, the Luminosity plaza looks fantastic, I can honestly say I am incredibly excited for the Ouimet dynasty. -

I drove past the park today and it is going down quickly. When I first got there around 7:15 the second layer of the swooping turn around was out which was closer to the old screen, by the time I left 15min later, the top layer of the turnaround was already taken out. This thing will be down by Saturday easily, they are just sawing it apart. -

The only place that I can think of is Cedar Point, they are the only ones that are rumored to get a coaster, its rumored to be B&M (according to screamscape) and all parks that are expecting a 2013 coaster already are confirmed or confined to what they are getting. -

Chances are they'll get something very close to Darien Lake's new rides. Both parks are owned by the same company and both are getting three rides so I won't be surprised. -

I agree that the park could be doing better then what it has been doing over the past couple of years in terms of additions and just general upkeep of the park, but the operations are outstanding at Cedar Point. Really, I think people forget about this, I go to this park two to three times a week during the summer and they really get people through the lines and besides some of the newer rides like Shoot the Rapids and Windseeker, the rides are open everyday for long periods of times. Yes, Dragster might close for a little bit during the day but really can you not expect that at this point, its a huge technological monster that needs the ideal conditions, but it runs for a majority of the day now just fine.
