  1. Same here, I thought they went belly-up a long time ago.... If they're still around, then I'm surprised they haven't pulled a Zierer and make their debut on the big coaster market.
  2. We simply cannot tolerate any more of your insanely stupid posts. Banned for being one of the biggest idiots we've ever had on TPR. Thank you Larry and Robb for banning him. This thread was nothing but a nightmare with him here. Hey with him gone Bill should be coming back now. I'm willing to bet that he's going to try and create another account. Is anyone else willing to bet this? That would be a bad bet. You know he has already started another profile. Honestly lurking on this forum isn't that bad. Its mostly what I do, although during rumor season I post a lot. You should post more. It makes me feel better about humanity to see someone who's 16 and actually able to form a complete sentence / rational thought. We don't get much of that around here. And yeah on the subject of Kings Dominion, I know I said this a few pages back but I prefer it to KD and Carowinds and the section that really sells me is the area back by the flyers and flume and international street which is much nicer than the KI version. I guess I have a thing for trees which those other parks are lacking in and KD has a ton of. KD is very underrated in terms of aesthetics. While the entrance plaza to Carowinds looks nice and futuristic, KD's entrance plaza is absolutely beautiful, it's like a grand promenade...
  3. I fail to see how a park not getting a new thrill ride or a new coaster for next year is "the end". KD is not going to be Geauga'd just because the announcement was for a few new kiddie rides. In terms of my opinion of this new expansion. As I said, I'm pretty ambivalent about it. Sure, Iron Hurler or a new B&M would have been cool, but I'm not going to flip out over those things not being true.
  4. From what I've head about that coaster, it could be a million times more tolerable if not for the shoulder pads.
  5. Apparently, I was a few pounds heavier this time around going to Carowinds as opposed to last year. While I've had no issue on Fury 325, which requires two clicks. I had voluntarily did the walk of shame on Intimidator, despite being able to ride earlier in the day, due to the fact that it requires three clicks for some reason. I don't know if that counts as a walk of shame because I asked to be let off, but the few times I went on it, they had to give it a good push. So when it comes to B&M's hypercoaster restraints, sometimes they're big person friendly and other times they're not. It all depends on how many clicks the park requires to be considered "locked"
  6. On the subject of Wildcat at Hershey...ehhh...I'd say that Mean Streak and KD's Hurler are rougher and more painful. At least Wildcat has twistyness on its side....then again, if Iron Wildcat becomes a reality, you won't see me complaining.
  7. If Anaconda would have gotten Vekoma trains with the headbang-free vest restraints (or lap bars for that manner), it would be a pretty good ride.
  8. Honestly at this point, I'm pretty much ambivalent to whatever happens. If they give Hurler the Iron Horse treatment, great. If they get another B&M, great. If they get another flat ride, great. I just don't think it's worth all this arguing and fighting....
  9. From what I could tell, the 295m, 453m, and the 395m models appears to have a chassis that can swerve during turns. However, the 342m model doesn't have it, thus making coasters like Flying Ace Arial Chase and Silver Streak inverted coasters.
  10. 1998 PHASE TWO UNVEILED When Riverwood Theme Park was bought out by Six Flags in 1994 and became Six Flags Nebraska, Six Flags had already had their eye on what they could possibly do with abandoned zoo that was located directly next to the park. However, several failed proposals had lead to the zoo being left derelict for many years after Six Flags bought the amusement park. That is, until 1997 when Six Flags proposed a plan in which the land that the zoo lies on would be used for the park....When the plans were finalized, Six Flags Splash City was born! Six Flags Splash City is a medium-sized water park that occupied the same land as the former Riverwood Zoo which features a variety of thrilling water slides! Reef Rider consists of two twisting body slides that soar over the hillside and splash into a refreshing pool. Tropical Storm will sure make you feel like you were just in one as you twist down a large enclosed slide in the dark! Grab a raft and race down a perilous twisty slide on Tempest! Tradewinds is an family-friendly rafting adventure down gentle turns and drops! The crown jewel of Six Flags Splash City is High Dive, an exhilarating 8 story speed slide! At this time, Six Flags had also made the decision that the moniker of "Six Flags Nebraska" was much too generic and plain....And so, with the arrival of the water park, Six Flags Nebraska was officially no more.... And SIX FLAGS ADVENTURE KINGDOM was born, a much more exciting and unique name for a park that Six Flags plans to put on the radar for adrenaline junkies by the beginning of the 21st century....Much more is to come for this park.....
  11. Or do you believe that the concept of a suspended coaster has become somewhat outdated since the inverted coaster came along? Me personally, I would love to see the suspended coaster make a modernized comeback. As it would not only mean that there would be new suspended coasters, it would also mean that maintainance for the pre-existing Arrow and Vekoma suspended coasters would be easier and they'd be able to last a while longer. In fact, there already is a company that has already made a modernized suspended coaster....While it sure doesn't look like much, the Zamperla Air Force is essentially a modernized suspended coaster and I think that the concept of the Air Force needs to be expanded to make larger and more thrilling suspended coasters. Reminiscent of rides like Flight Deck/The Bat and The Big Bad Wolf....Of course, this is probably not going to happen, but one can dream, am I right?
  12. In a weeks time I'm going to be taking another trip to carowinds. I must ask, has there been any change to Fury and I232s seat belts and/or restraint locks? I'm asking because I've managed to maintain the same weight and size I was last year, and it would really suck if there has been any sudden changes...
  13. The newer vest-like restraints make a world of difference though.
  14. Let's hope it stays that way until the 27th! On that note... any advice for a first-timer to VA parks? Planned on doing KD on 8/27 and BGW on 8/28. The advice I can give you is that try and go on Volcano first before anything. Lines for Volcano can potentially go out the queue while there is a walk-on for I305. Flight of Fear is pretty iffy, sometimes it's complete walk on and the ride ops will give you double-rides because of it, other times, it can get extremely long. Anaconda isn't as horrible as people say, but it is best to brace yourself during that weird helix... I personally found Grizzly to be better than Hurler, even though they're both pretty rough woodies. Backlot Stunt Coaster is actually a pretty solid ride if you want my opinion. It's perfect for families, but those helices in the beginning sometimes pack a good punch. Dominator is pretty solid too, although people do point out the B&M rattle at some points of the ride.
  15. Wow...so Flying Falcon is being torn down....Unfortunately, I cant' say I didn't see this coming....I've seen a lot of speculation for many years that it was on the chopping block. This seems like a great addition for Hershey though. It's a very, VERY well rounded park with a great selection of rides and roller coasters and a drop tower is something that has really been missing.
  16. Sometimes, I feel that most of the complaints about B&M dominating the American coaster market is based in jealousy of the fact that a lot of parks overseas are beginning to get a lot of newer "X-Treme" coasters by manufacturers like Intamin and Mack while those two manufacturers seem to have been passing over our country. I mean, I will fully admit, sometimes I do get a bit jealous when I look at a coaster like Flying Aces or Flash at Lewa Adventure and say "Man, wouldn't that be cool if a coaster like that was built in the U.S?" But then again, I always tell myself that you never know what's going to happen in the future when it comes to U.S coasters. I mean, with the way RMC one day just burst onto the scene, really anything can happen....
  17. 1997 While a Vekoma Boomerang wasn't what Six Flags had in mind, building Mr. Freeze did save them a lot of money for future additions for the Six Flags Nebraska....And with that in mind, a grandiose plan was proposed by Six Flags...A plan which involved the park receiving plenty of upgrades and new attractions by the year 2000....And in 1997, the first phase of the plan went into motion.... The Eyerly Aircraft company had been out of business for many years by the time 1997 rolled along, and as a result, costs to maintain Roll-O-Plane had raised to very high levels. Six Flags decided that it would be economically the best decision of they got rid of it completely.... In its place, Twister, a HUSS standard Top Spin was put in it's place! A more modern high-thrill flat ride that is guaranteed to make a lot of stomachs turn! A second casualty of Six Flags plan was the flower garden near Bobs with the jumping fountains. Over the years, the pipes for the jumping fountains became increasingly stopped up, so for the past few years since Six Flags took over the park, they didn't operate.... The replacement was Acrophobia , a brand new 198 foot tall Intamin AG Second-Generation drop tower. This ride is the first of its kind at Six Flags Nebraska and is guaranteed to further increase the thrill factor at the park! However, when it came to the possible revitalization of the former Riverwood Zoo area, Six Flags knew they had to act as fast as possible as vines from the derelict tram station begin to creep up the support structure of Bobs.....
  18. Kings Dominion Intimidator 305+Flight Of Fear Carowinds Fury 325+Intimidator Hershey Park Stormrunner+Skyrush
  19. And to make it even worse, when the ride op is unnecessarily rude about it. It actually happened to me on Fury 325 when my mother had politely asked if we could sit in a different row because a group of riders had someone chicken out and they exited the line (It was actually a walk-on believe it or not) and the ride op just got so rude about it and yelled at my mom, accusing her of having an "attitude" with her.
  20. I've had this crazy idea stirring in my head for a while now...Do you guys think it would be theoretically possible for B&M to be able to reprofile and retrack Titan and SFMM's Goliath and make them better rides? We've seen GCI do it with Ghostrider, we've seen B&M do it with The Incredible Hulk...Do you think that B&M could be able to really spruce Goliath and Titan up?
  21. That Lazer at Dorney would still be operating for a very long time
  22. Granted I haven't been in years but I like Goliath, my only gripe is the MCBR and it's to short. Goliath is one of the parks most popular rides by the general public, still to this day, but it really does not require a ride from me when I visit. Reason being it could have been such a monumentally better coaster and unfortunately Six Flags jumped on the "longest and fastest (coaster on) a closed-circuit roller coaster in the world" record in 2000 instead of worrying about ride quality and now we're all paying for it. Mind you this is a record they held for 4 months and two days (Taken by Millenium Force). From what I have heard they can't stop it from being "too" fast, which is why they deal with the Ghostrider come to an almost complete stop MCBR. Imagine if they would have skipped on it, waited, and went with something like a Millenium Force style ride which would have undoubtedly worked in the same area (which would have also allowed a tunnel and a rise over Colossus). I really think Intamin could have built a much better ride. But the public eats Goliath up, so the park as far as they are concerned is no worse for the wear. Goliath is the only true hyper in California. Yes, Xcelerator is 205 feet tall but it's not a "hyper coaster" because Intamin classifies it's 200 foot non-launched, closed circuit coasters as Mega Coasters because "hyper" really is a type of coaster, not just a height. So being that Goliath is the only "hyper" that 99% of Southern Californians have ever experienced to them it's an amazing ride. But for anyone who has ridden any B&M or Intamin hyper it's kinda bland. I always thought it was the other way around. That "Megacoaster" was the model and "Hypercoaster" is the classification.
  23. 1996 As predicted, the debut season of Six Flags Nebraska was an absolutely massive success with the new Batman-The Ride coaster being the most popular attraction with the most riders of any other coaster in the park! By 1995, Six Flags saw this obvious positive reaction to the addition of Batman-The Ride and instantly realized that the demand existed for another new major roller coaster for 1996. It's also quite interesting to know that at this point in time, lines of communication between Six Flags Nebraska, Bolliger and Mabillard, and Premier Rides were opened around this time period. However, something came up that put a damper on the plans for a large coaster. Six Flags had recently begun planning to buy the abandoned ruins of Riverwood Zoo adjacent to Six Flags Nebraska and use that land to expand the park. While the company made a ton of money in 1994 with the success of the park's re-opening, it wasn't enough to be able to afford to build a new large-scale major coaster in 1996 and afford to expand the park in the future...Six Flags had to come up with a compromise.... The compromise was Mr. Freeze, a Vekoma Boomerang was built in the DC Universe section of the park.... As a coaster itself, Mr. Freeze is your normal, standard fare Boomerang coaster. A catch car winch brings the train up the left spike where it releases at the top, sending the train careening down the hill traveling at a top speed of 47-50mph through a cobra roll and a vertical loop and catches a chain lift to the top of the right spike which releases the train and it does the entire course in reverse. An interesting fact is that when Six Flags contracted Vekoma to build Mr. Freeze, they didn't even ask for a train. Instead, Steel Sidewinder's second train was repainted blue, and used for Mr.Freeze. As a result, Steel Sidewinder now operates only one train, which isn't really that big of a deal considering that it usually doesn't have a long line at all. A very interesting thing to point out is the fact that Six Flags Nebraska now has two shuttle coasters that are located next to each other. Serpent, the Schwarzkopf shuttle loop and now Mr. Freeze, the Vekoma Boomerang. While the addition of a Vekoma Boomerang wasn't really that exciting, it slowly became quite clear that the best was yet to come for Six Flags Nebraska...We just have to wait and see....
  24. This is it, this is possibly one of the greatest arguments on whether something can be considered credit or not I have EVER seen.
  25. So far, so good! I think that ExpoLand really has the potential to become another top park! In my opinion, the scenery looks great and has a nice "classic RCT2" feel to it, nothing that really takes that many exploits and hacks, but also makes use of a good amount of custom content. The coasters look like absolute classics and I have no doubt that they will probably be thrilling people for years to come! Keep up the great work!
