  1. ^ Remember these updates are just to keep us up on what's happening. The big update at the end has more details. I
  2. Did you try the different types of candy? Japan is awesome but so weird.
  3. ^ Where did you get the idea that we are getting a dive machine?
  4. ^^^^ I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at something not said by Robb. When we went to Little Amerricka my friend informed me that Mad Mouse goes off the track at one point. He said if you lean against the side the car will tip and fall off the track and we will die like on kid did. My other friend thought SFGAM was closing. Although that's not the dumb part because it was when they filed for bankruptcy and we had heard they cancelled food orders because they said the park might close. The stupid part is when he said that if they don't close it they're going to move the whole park somewhere else.
  5. ^ Best comeback ever! I LOL'd for a while. KDCOASTERFAN wrote: You couldn't explain it any better. SFGAM has an un-popular stand up coaster. SFKK has a good stand up but the park is failing. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what to do.
  6. monstarfan99 wrote: That would be a good idea. They should so that if it stays at KK. I know many people who wouldn't ride Iron Wolf becuase you have to stand. If Chang became a sit-down it could get more riders.
  7. If we ge Chang and lose Whizzer wouldn't they have to take out other stuff too? I don't see how it would fit. Anyway if we get that Iron Wolf will go and then they'll have room for a compact coaster or flat ride. It's not worth losing two coasters for Chang. Would there be enough room for Whizzer if Iron Wolf leaves?
  8. The go-kart/bumber boat ride ops at Little Amerricka where really cool. they were teens probably getting money for college. Anyway they talked to everyone waiting and we got in a conversation of who would win in a fight to the death the Jonas Brothers or 3 Zac Efrons. Also one kid kept asking when we could go so they decided everytime he said that the people racing would get two more laps. Cruel but funny. They were also pretty funny when they told us how to race and kinda made fun of my friend when they said to put your foot on the gas and he put it on the break. The Meteor ride op was also pretty funny. He wouldn't let my friend on because he said the ride sucked. At the end of the day he gave us 10 laps without getting off which made him even better.
  9. ^ That's not what it said in the interview with Six Flag's CEO.
  10. While I do want a new coaster I would hate for Whizzer to go. That ride is a family favorite. When I went over the summer the line stuck way out of the entrance. If it does leave they will probably send it to another Six Flags or a different park will buy it. As for capacity that is a huge thing at Great America. Rajin Cajun can have a very short line but still take forever to get through. I could see Great America getting an El Loco but not as the next big coaster. We have a great collection of coasters and as the highest money earning park, Six Flags needs to stop with Magic Mountain for a while and put there attention on the park that gets the most cash. Great America should get the HH expansion, a new coaster and work on how the buildings and coasters look.
  11. ^ That would be a good idea. The station could be where the Space Shuttle is and it could go all over the midway. It would be unique to have a coaster that is high off the ground like SFNO Batman. Then like you said go around backwards.
  12. Where could they fit major new coaster besides where the Space Shuttle is? Taking out Iron Wolf wouldn't give enough room for a big new one which we need. It could fit something small like an Intiman Halfpipe or Zac-spin. I personally still want a launched coaster. A Mr. Freeze clone would be nice.
  13. What song is it during Tongdo Fantasia Coasters pov on the asia trip dvd?
  14. FLIPDUDE wrote: The reason we didn't ride in the back is that they say you have to be 18. I don't know if thats for height or weight but I'm short and skinny and really get tossed around in coasters so I didn' want to take the risk. Also the last three cars were roped off. Out of 10 rows about 6 were open, all in the front. Last summer when I went on Cyclops in the fouth car. It had more airtime on the final drop and some on the little hills, but not the crazy-ejector-throwyououtoftheseat airtime the first row had on the little hills. As for night at the park when we left one family stayed in the park and two people were buying tickets. We left about 20 minutes before it started. monstarfan99 wrote: Also right now there just testing the idea. They have it on Tues, Thurs, Sat and Sun. It's a good idea but I don't know if they will be able to pull it off with only 5 rides and Kiddieland open.
  15. Over the summer my family went up to the Wisconsin Dells. I had a friend come because I needed someone to ride the coasters with. We also stopped at Timber Falls one morning for one quick ride on Hellcat/Avalanche. It was early, kinda cold and the log flume didn't open for a while so we decided not to get the wristband, just one ride on Avalanche. The ride was amazing. We rode in the front row and it was very smooth, fast, forceful and had lot's of air. I loved the turns and this ride made me a fan of turns that are banked pretty high. S&S did a great job on this. At Mt. Olympus we skipped the go-carts due to the insanely slow line. Some of my cousins got in line and then left because it went so slow. We went one Opa, Apollos Swing, Cyclops, Pegasus, Zeus, Hades and a few water slides. Here's my review of each ride. Opa- Basic wild mouse. They had 3 of 4 cars running. Someone got to the front of the line and then was told she was too short. I felt bad for her but there is a sign for measuring to know if your tall enough to ride so they could of avoided that by checking first. Cyclops- We rode this twice, both times in the front. The first ride was good but the second gave us the most extreme moment of airtime. Cyclops's lapbar does not go down very far and we are both skinny so there was lots of room between our legs and the restraint. When we made the 180 turn which leads you to the last drop we flew up of the seat and the train turning hit us which pushed us to the side. It really felt like we were going to fly out of the train. We we in the air for a long time. I knew Cyclops gave good air but that was the best of any coaster I've been on. Zeus- Rode this 4 times, once at night. Gave good air but nothing great. We sat in the front row and in the first row of the third car. Each time was smooth and gave good air. Hades- While waiting for Hades we meet Tom an "enthusiast" who thought Hades was 90 feet tall and that the Boss had three 90 drop offs, a nice family who we talked to about Cedar Point and the Bisquit Kids. The Bisquit Kids was a group of 3 little kids who tried to make fun of us while waiting in line. They called my friends shoes "Bisquits", but an ant on his shoulder and thought it was the greatest thing ever and just called us stupid and stuff like that. Funniest thing ever. Oh yeah and the coaster was good to. It did have one rough part right before turning into the station wich gives you a bad headache. Other than that it was great and it was my first 90 degree turn and incorrectly backed turn, both were very fun. We rode Hades once at night and 4 times in general. Each time the lights in the tunnel were on. Apollos Swing- This was fun but short. I tried to put my arms up but the force pushed them down. If they make it a little longer it would be worth the money. Now I'd say there should only charge $5. Pegasus- Pegasus is an ok kiddie coaster, but it has a very sharp, quick turn at the end which will make your side hurt a little. Other than that it was fun. The park is really coming along. They added games since my last visit and the very short Skycoaster. I mean its not tall at all. You do swing over the wave pool which is cool. The next time I go to Mt. Olympus I'll ride that instead of Apollo's Swing. The ride was also extra. Night at the Park is a new thing only open to Hotel Rome guests and geusts at hotels that give you Mt. Olympus passes which is about all them. Basically Hades, Zeus, Trojan Horse, Kiddie Land, The big wave pool and one other go-kart track is open until 2 am. The price is $9 which includes parking and a soda. We could have just stayed in the park because the night that we were there we stayed until closing and they don't even ask you to leave. The workers pack up and leave but we could have stayed and not have pay $9. We didn't stay because we had already done Hades and Zeus and we didn't want to wait in the park for 30 minutes with nothing to do. All and all it was a great trip and I look forward to going back to Mt. Olympus again.
  16. I still haven't truly accepted that it's closed. I never got on it and ever since I first saw I wanted to ride it more than any other coaster. There was just something about it that I loved. Hopefully whatever takes it's place will be just as good as everyone says BBW was.
  17. California Screaming has cool not odd supports. As for the first one WTF? To me it looks like they either, 1) Didn't have the right loop supports so they just throw together what they had 2) The supports were meant for some weird crazy element that got removed for a loop, like how Mavericks heartline roll was made then removed 3) or they changed their company a little Intamin, supplying the world with great coasters and great bongs
  18. I know this is off topic but it's not good enough to start a new thread. When I was looking at SFMM in the park index and I clicked on Atom Smasher it shows two different rides. Is that a mistake or did they change the ride?
  19. Those rides look awesome. reminds me of Himayala rides you see at fairs a lot. I dont know the rides name but at Kennywood its Bayern Kurve. Did Great America used to have one of those. I distinctly remember seeing it in a lost ride article.
  20. ^ What's the Haybaler? A Mack Mega Looper would be great. When I first saw that coaster I thought it was an Intamin. I want a launched coaster or a Floorless B&M looper. I've always thought Great America was lacking a good looping coaster since Shockwave and Tidal wave are gone. Demon is ok but it isnt very tall and I want more elements like zero-g rolls and cobra rolls. A clone of Medusa, Bizzaro or Scream would be fine with me. Can you or someone explain what you mean by this?
  21. Even though I never rode this I would love to have a car hanging from my ceiling. Does anyone know if they are planning on selling parts of the ride because it was so historic.? I guess I'm stuck with Iron Dragon and Flight Deck. Depressing.
  22. What kind of coaster do you guys want the park to get? I think the park would be good with a Kanon or Stealth clone.
  23. robbalvey wrote: Is the park planning on opening the ride? I looked on RCDB and the ride is completely done and was testing. Seems like a waste if they're never going to open it.
  24. DBru wrote: When I went to Mt. Olympus last summer I did a little experiment. I rode Pegasus in the first row, then again in the back row. In the first row the train is pushing you down the hill. In the back row you are being pulled down the hill. When you get pulled down your neck gets snapped back which can hurt your neck and if your tall enough it will also hurt your back. If the train has head rests you won't fell it as much. This is just what I've noticed on a few coasters. In the end the back of the train probably gets higher G-Forces because the force of the rest of the train pulls it throughout the track.
