Good start, maybe you could use some more flowers inntgr landscaping around the paths though. Coasters are cool, looking forward to seeing more. -

Looks great as always, attention to detail here is on another level, especially this close to completion. -

Cedar Point opens much latter in the season than Carowinds, like 6+ weeks I think. So they have a lot more time and probably less overall construction to do after the ride track is finished. -

Sorry I thought I was in the Six Flags New England thread for a minute. I think you have choice of seat on every coaster at Cedar Point. Lol As of last year this is true about 98% of the time. Occasionally they will assign on Maverick, but its possible they just got rid of that completely in the last two seasons. -

Personally we just like to mix it up a little. Sometimes at Cedar Point it's nice to take a break from long lines and ride a major ride without dedicating to much time to it. Even with Fastlane Plus Maverick can pull a 45 minute line. We like to mix in some rides like Skyhawk, Power Tower, Gemeni and Mean Streak sometimes since they're solid rides with short waits and just take a quick break from lines. We used to do that with Corkscrew too but lately I just find that thing unbearable. True. Last time I went to CP, TTD, MF, Maverick, etc were all pulling 75min+ wait times while Power Tower was a 5min wait. This is usually my experience as well, the "big 6-7" coasters are usually 50min+, while flats and alike are walk-ons or sub 10 minutes. Skyhawk might be a slightly different story, but for the most part you will really have substantial waits for the coasters. -

Corkscrew, or Mean Streak will be the next coasters to go. Iron Dragon is not that great but its a favorite among younger guests and still gets decent ridership. Although with the location of Corkscrew I'm not really sure what they would replace it with. The double arches are just so iconic and awesome to me it doesn't really matter than the ride is awful. -

Quite a nice little park going on here, I quite like the entrance plaza. Maybe focus a bit more on the buildings, I think adding a few more could help the area look a little nicer. -

I usually sit in the 4th row left side on Magnum, provides a great ride, just dont have the lap bar to tight and brace yourself on the return run. Probably my #4 coaster at CP currently. -

Knex or Coaster Dynamix?
G Force replied to CoasterMateo's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Coaster Dynamix are much more difficult to build and take much more patients. Knex are usually cheaper and easier to build with, however aren't as realistic. Personally I'd suggest Knex for custom designed rides as you can get more pieces for your money, but some people prefer CD simply because of the look and realism. -

I believe they re-tracked a significant portion of the Beast's second half a few years ago. Probably modified the banking in some areas as well, especially in the helix. However, any decent sized woodie seems to need a re-tracking every 4-5 years now, which is interesting as the quality of the construction has definitely gotten better, probably just peoples standards keep getting better. -

From what I can tell, it seems like the first group to close in wind is Raptor, Gatekeeper and Dragster (well no, the first group is Windseeker and Sky Ride but out of the coasters it's these three). They generally always close together. I've heard that if the wind isn't blowing from the bay it's not as big of an issue because Raptor's problem is heading into the mid course and Dragster's problem is obviously clearing the top hat, both of which face the bay but the wind always seems to be coming off the bay so I don't know if this is true). After that the weather would have to be horrendous to close anything else but of course as you said it happens. At least with the wind policy it's semi-consistent but I do wonder if it's a little overly cautious. There are plenty of times where Gatekeeper completely hauls through the dive loop turnaround and keyholes and then shuts down due to wind. Raptor is tougher because it always goes pretty slow into the mid course... with Dragster I don't get why they keep launching until it rolls back but I'm sure there's a reason for it. The rain policy on the other hand is ridiculously inconsistent and ridiculous. The only consistency there is that Dragster won't run. Millennium Force, Corkscrew and Maverick usually run but not always, everything else is a crap shoot... the rain policy is a complete mess. Due to the jet stream 95% of the time weather and wind is from the west. So yea, any rides that have slow speed elements that face the west would be most susceptible to wind. I would imagine that this would include Valravn in the future, sadly. -

Did you finish this yet? An unfinished version of this park was released on Nedesigns.com in December of 2013 under the name "Baker Lake". However he (coupon) has rebuilt and added some to this park and plans on releasing it sometime this year. You can see further updates and screens on his profile at Nedesigns. -

Yes, that's about where the Wildcat was located. It was almost directly across the path from the Iron Dragon station, you can actually still see it on street view if you really want a closer look. -

Cedar Point has always lacked a good wooden coaster, you have Mean Streak and Blue Streak, pretty lackluster selection of you ask me. I'd love to see them get a GCI but I don't think that capacity would be high enough for CPs standards. The only other company currently building wooden coasters in the US is RMC, if you even call those wooden coasters. Personally I'm not the biggest fan of RMC, but anything to improve Mean Streak or that plot of land would be great. -

Two things that stand out to me: 8 across trains - dont really understand this, that or the presence of the vest restraints. I guess the elements are rather slow but I feel that a 10 across train would increase the speed and capacity enough to out weigh this. Colors - I know we have know these for a while, but they still perplex me. Being almost the same to Rougaru and just across the midway it just seems odd to me. I guess at this point though we cant really question CF, almost all of their major additions in the past years have been outstanding, they definitely know what they are doing. Glad there isn't a splashdown though, they honestly never appeal to me as they act no different than a breakrun in my eyes, much rather have a bunny hill or similar element. -

They probably didn't think a up stop wheels were necessary, considering that Magnum didn't have any inversions. They had been successful with the under track pads in the past on rides like Gemini, and at its core, Magnum is basically a 200ft mine train. You also have to remember that there were almost no computers used in the designing of Magnum, actually Magnum was one of the last major coasters to not use Computer technology. All of the track was hand shaped on sight rather than prefabricated in a factory. This is also why they modified the ride quite a bit after the initial testing, the raising of the dip before the turnaround, adding of the trims, removal of the up stop pads. Coasters in those days were a lot more trial and error than they are today, due to the lack of computers they often built full scale prototypes of rides to test the concepts.
