  1. No chance the boats were bottoming out because the water dummies were too heavy? Oh wait, this isn't a Disney ride. In all seriousness, I don't think this is a big deal at all. As Robb pointed out on the previous page these things happen all the time. Leave it up to the Cedar Point Fanboys to blow a situation out of proportion.
  2. Anyone else remember the Chicken Littles, the mini chicken sandwhich KFC sold for like a quarter back in the 80's? Those were good!
  3. The MP was released in 1999, the same year JJ opened. What sense does it make to enclose the ride, run the water line to install the sprinkler heads for the building AFTER the ride was built? None.
  4. ^Hey Hottie. I'm still patiently waiting for the TPR personal ads... Could you imagine the endless possibilities for love and drama? LOL
  5. ^I couldn't disagree with you anymore. Coming out isn't about learning to be a minority. Coming out is about learning to love yourself for who you are and accepting that.
  6. Prior to Bosox's 2004 win, I really wanted to see Bosox-Chicubs Series. That would've been something special. And that's coming from a lifelong O's fan who hates Bosox/Yankees equally as much! BAHSTON SAWKS CACK Hey Idiots, There never was a curse, you just sucked for 86 years
  7. ^The Ferris Wheel mentioned in the Master Plan is NOT Around the World in 80 days. ATWIED was added in 1993 along with a package of other flats that include Shipwreck Falls, Falling Star, Cyclone (Scrambler), and the Great Race (Antique Cars). In 1996, Adventure World had a private event for Halloween night which was attended by then Maryland Governor Parris Glendening. It was at this event that I was "blown" away for the first time, on ATWIED, when the ride broke down and we were at the top of the ride.
  8. Re: Master Plan I've been searching archives of the forums that I was posting on more than ten years ago when the thing was released. Here's what I've been able to put together from the archives that I've found: *200' steel coaster *140' tall stand up coaster *120' tall Ferris Wheel *a Wild Mouse style coaster *indoor attraction not to exceed 90' *a water flume type attraction *unknown attraction. Here's a link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/daily/april99/sixflags29.htm Suoerman is the 200' attraction. Many believe Batwing replaced the stand up on the Master Plan. PBR is the water flume attraction.
  9. Beast has no airtime either, but the layout is not boring. It races through the woods and underground in tunnels and the helix at the end is nicely done. It's braked to all hell but it still can provide an amusing night ride. I disagree with you. I think the Beast's layout is incredibly boring, at least until the drop into the final helix. While I understand that the Beast became the benchmark in the 70's for every wooden coaster built until the newer GCII's, TGG's, and Intamin woodies came out, I just don't think it's all that great of a ride or layout. Beast is best at night no doubt but that can be said about a lot of coasters. The Beast is very flat and has little to offer other than racing through the woods and the final helix.
  10. I am aware that they sold two of them. And yes, I know the third one is still at Magic Mountain. It was just a past suggestion I had back when I heard they were removing them. The last thing SFA needs is more Vekoma.
  11. Wow. I feel cheated. I just spent 15 minutes reading all these pages that talked about JJ being enclosed and a family friendly Fright Fest. I want my 15 minutes back. In all seriousness, SFA needs some love on the dry side of the park. I agree with CoasterLver that a spinning coaster would be a great fit for SFA though I'd rather see a custom designed ride than a clone. I think a Euro-Fighter or a S&S El Loco (Indiana Beach's Steel Hawg) would be great additions as well. The dry side of the park has been neglected for years in regards to the addition of new flats. Without doing the research, I'd challenge anyone to name a park that is still operating that has removed so many rides as SFA has over the past decade. Re: SFA being Geauga'd- I've made this point before and I'll make it again...not happening. With the housing market slowly coming back from being in the toilet for so many years, I just don't think it's realistic that this park is up for sale. Not to mention SF Inc relocating former Park President John Winkler from Great Adventure (and previously Great America) who has accomplished so much in his career. John worked at Great America during the '90's as the PP and I believe from '99 to '08 at GAdv. Think of all the additions and expansions he's been a part of. If SF Inc wasn't serious about keeping this little park around, they wouldn't have have brought someone on board to right the ship.
  12. I was a non-speaking but riding extra for the filming of "Making of a Coaster". We rode LR nearly 40 times during the shoot but what I remember most was speaking to and riding with Mike and Clair. Awesome experience. I agree with the topic starter that the thing I detest the most about any of the coaster shows is the enthusiast. The "enthusiast" is usually some middle aged man who seems to have no life and has ridden whatever coaster that is being featured a million and a half times. It's like they are trying to out-do Paul Rueben.
  13. ^ I agree with everything you stated, however, during my ride in 2008, I felt a pothole somewhere towards the back of the ride. I rode SOB in 2000 when it opened and 2008 was my only other ride. I know I'm in the minority, but I love this coaster. The height, the speed, the loop when it was still in tact... I'm happy to hear KI is trying to save the coaster.
  14. Completely random and off topic... Does anyone else think Dick Kinzel kinda looks like Splinter, the giant mutant rat, from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies? When I saw him in person on Thursday, I kept seeing a resemblence.
  15. I thought the trims along the course were not only set for speed but also magnetic so I'm not sure if they can be turned up or down, no? Nice photos...you guys sure do jump around a lot.
  16. Uneventful is one thing this coaster is not. Since we're forming opinions based off looks and not the actual ride...well, I won't bash you...but you can see where I'm coming from.
  17. Great pics Cfc. I didn't realize that was you. I was standing right next to you or near you several times through out the day.
  18. ^I'll speculate and say that Carowinds is nothing we haven't seen in recent years with the additions of Behemoth and Diamondback whereas I305 is the first giga coaster built in the last ten years. There was more hype and fanfare for I305 because of it's design and really has nothing to do with B&M versus Intamin.
  19. I think the difference between the two Intimidator trains is that I305 is only two across seating like a real stock car while Carowind's Intimidator is four across seating. Therefore the zero car is going to have more of a bulky unrealistic look. I305 trains look better, IMO, because they are able to scale the trains better to look like a real race car. The cars themselves, I think the stadium seating in the even rows seem higher than on the other mega/giga coasters and you have a clear view of the track in front of you. Maybe my height helped. I also felt like the seats in the odd rows we more wider than those in the even rows.
  20. Who's that fat a$$ looking down in that picture?? Oh wait, that's me!!
  21. Late in the afternoon yesterday I saw Tony from the OnPoint (Cedar Point) blog getting off I305 as I was getting out. I shouted out to him and asked him which was better...Millennium Force or I305?? Of course he answered Millennium Force but that's what I was expecting. I told him to go back to Ohio. And I'll proclaim myself to be, from this day forward and for the rest of time, to be an Intimidator 305 FANBOY. No shame in that. On a side note, somebody tell Robb to put down the cameras...he was working really hard yesterday and I just hope he takes some time to enjoy the park.
  22. Apparently you havent read any of the reports from yesterday as everything that's been posted here has been nothing but positives for the restraints. Let the restraints thing go already. JFC. I admitted that I was critical of a few things about this ride before riding it and now that I've ridden I305, I was wrong on every account.
  23. I'm a little confused by your post. Did you actually ride I305 yesterday? Or are you just going off what you saw in Robb's video? Have no doubt the first banked turn is very drawn out but the pacing at 94 miles per hour is excellent. Even on the trasitions or helicies as you mention, there are sudden spurts of airtime. There is no dull moment on this coaster. I305 kicks butt from start to finish.
  24. ^I didn't write the article. I merely copy and pasted what I saw on the link. My complete TR of today's media day is on page 348 of this thread.
  25. The final S turn, 2:36 - 2:38 in Robb's reverse video is one wicked manuver. You can see Robb's body just go from side to side in the blink of an eye. Insane!
