  1. ^While that may be the case, we've seen Six Flags throw up tons of things that are safe to assume weren't planned out very far in advance when the new CEO took over last year. Hell, they removed Wildcat on a whim after it had been testing. I already know they scratched what was supposed to be a MAJOR coaster in the back of the park, so it's entirely possible that this coaster hasn't been in the planning phase for that long.
  2. ^No, that explanation is actually exactly what this thread needed, so thank you for clarifying. I'm still skeptical about them actually doing anything out of the ordinary with a wing rider if it's a B&M, because I think those designs are limited in what they can do (much like dive machines). CP has never really been interested in building coasters that are limited in design (hence why they keep going with Intamin). Maybe with Ouimet in charge now they're going to go with "safer" coaster installations, but since we don't know who the manufacturer is, that's a discussion for another day. I still say I hope it's Intamin. If they can take what Intamin started with Skyrush and expand upon it...........
  3. ^In the words of that vulture in Jungle Book, "NOW DON'T START THAT AGAIN!"
  4. ^I think my mom would be terrified, but enjoy it. I would most likely have to convince her to ride, and she would refuse to ride anywhere but the middle rows in the inside seats.
  5. KD shouldn't be bad on Father's Day. No parks are bad on Mother's/Father's Day.
  6. ^Then we need VAcoasterDude back in here to explain what he really heard.
  7. ^There was an ACE event there over the weekend, and during Q&A, they said to expect a coaster of the winged variety in the place of DT next year.
  8. Manufactured in the USA, used in China. Something seems awfully backwards about that.
  9. ^That's been there since the beginning of last season.
  10. There's nothing quite like the smell of cooking Muffleheads coming from the spotlights below TTD.
  11. ^I think the POV was shot recently since you can see the mini-trims in the video.
  12. About as much as we all dislike backseat moderators.
  13. ^You like 305 better than something else??? I'm sure this drop will be fantastic, but El Toro is a pretty tough standard to beat.
  14. I think the point he was making was that the train was moving slower through the course because it was the newer of the two trains.
  15. ^Ride sounds work just fine in coaster videos, hence why the Raw DVDs appeal to me so much.
  16. Is there some unwritten rule that every video containing footage of Skyrush has to contain shitty music? Good Lord! Either way, ride looks very, very, very good. I'm pretty damn excited to jump on this thing on Saturday.
  17. If they get a wing coaster next year, I'll be praying to the Flying Spaghetti Monster that it's of the Intamin variety.
  18. ^Another ringing endorsement for Fast Lane. A day of walk ons without Fast Lane yields fewer rides than a packed day with Fast Lane.
  19. ^I would guess that drive tires are involved, although since I haven't watched the POV, I don't know if that's the case or not.
  20. Yes, but they don't always run six trains on it. I can't comment on recent times, but I've definitely seen them operate it with five several times. TTD has six trains, but they exclusively run five trains (although they obviously have an unloading station, unlike Maverick). ^I'm sure there are enough blocks to use five trains. I can think of at least 9 blocks right now without even knowing the ride system. Two blocks in the station, the pre-launch, the launch, the mid-course in the building until the drop, the drop, the launch after the drop to the bridge, the drop till the final brakes, and I'm sure there's another "staging" block from the final brakes to the station. The only reason they aren't using five trains right now is the yellow one had its incident a few weeks back and is still being repaired.
  21. ^One train sits on the brakes behind the station while the two in front are loading. And you would obviously get off on the opposite end of the station from which you boarded. CP runs five trains on Maverick every now and then (which has a dual-loading station), and it still runs seamlessly.
  22. ^Judging by what these lap bars look like, I think you should be ok. The newer "over the shoulder" lap bar type restraints that Intamin has come out with have been much more forgiving than their previous designs.
  23. ^I'm definitely expecting an intensity level and experience similar to Cheetah Hunt, I don't really have any allusions built up of this being a top 10 ride (or being rated 11/10). I just don't want any part of the building experience spoiled for me. I'll get to find out what it's all about in a week, anyway!
  24. ^I'm right at 6'5", so I'm not sure what to expect with Skyrush. It doesn't surprise me at all that SFMM insisted on measuring him with shoes on (if you ride with no shoes on, you should be measured with no shoes on). Last year at SFNE was a real pain in the ass trying to get on Bizarro. I rode it 6 times (mostly during ERT), and about every other ride they would pull me off the train and measure me. The final time they kicked me off was after I had ridden in the front seat during ERT (and it was pretty damn obvious they saw me ride that time). And there was also another TPR member who was taller than me who was never denied a ride or measured like I was. I just expect that kind of idiocy out of Six Flags, but not out of Hershey, so I'm hoping for the best next Saturday. I planned this entire vacation around this ride opening, so to say that I would be upset about being denied would be a gross understatement. As for other rides with max height restrictions, the only time I've been denied flat out was the Zyklon (Rollie's Coaster) at Morey's Piers. I've ridden several rides that I was over the max height for (Superman at SFA, a variety of wild mouse coasters, the impulse at Dorney, some SLC's and all the SFC's). Really all I do is walk onto the ride like I've ridden it before and don't act like I'm trying to get away with anything. Usually works. Anyway, sounds like your son has a good future in athletics, so roller coasters are the least of his worries.
