  1. ^He blinded the ride ops with his shiny head? Edit: Woohoo 500th post!
  2. ^It should be an adventure for me if they let me try to squeeze on there. I was barely able to fit in Jr. Gemini last year, which was by far the tightest fit I've ever had on a coaster (well.....not including the love roller coaster ). I think I can manage though if they let me straddle the middle of the T bar.
  3. ^ Likes boogers on his hot dogs. < Likes ketchup, mustard, and sweet relish on his hot dogs. v Likes anchovies in his/her macaroni and cheese!
  4. That's promising news. Maximum height restrictions make me break out in a rash and twitch uncontrollably.
  5. Yes, my attention span is--oh look, a kitty! Did you watch the birth of Jim and Pam's baby on The Office last night?
  6. ^Not sure I ever said that, but yeah, whatever you say.
  7. Would you honestly rather have a crap-tastic wooden coaster that no one enjoys, or a new 'steel-wood-hybrid' that offers a superior ride experience and more thrills? Companies are not going to do this to GOOD wooden coasters, rather the ones that have lost their appeal, have low ridership and that most people pass up on a visit. I certainly enjoy wooden coasters, as my top two overall are wooden, but Texas Giant, as well as a few other woodens are at the bottom. I think this is a great move, and is really exciting to see a new concept like this come into fruition. Call me a woodie fanboy. There aren't nearly enough left in the world, and if they want a steel coaster, just build a steel coaster. $10M can get you a lot, it just seems strange to spend it rehabbing a ride that was growing more and more unpopular, and then on top of that, take away its wooden status. Wooden coaster engineering is at an insanely all-time high, so put the $10M towards a brand new one. I believe El Toro only cost a little more than that, Gravity Group's coasters have gone for way less than that, and GCIs are comparable to that price tag, depending on length and other factors.
  8. ^I think it goes back to Six Flags' recent trend of refurbishing and retooling some of their existing rides to try to re-excite people about them rather than building something new. Texas Giant was absolutely unbearable when I rode it last year, and I'm surely not the only one that thought so. And I wholeheartedly agree, I REALLY hope this doesn't become a regular thing. No matter how good the ride may end up being, I'll hate seeing woodies disappear in lieu of steel track.
  9. Sounds like a fun year ahead. You aren't the only one with the plan to do KD on opening day and hit SFA the next day. Although the day after that for me is Carowinds on my way back to Alerbammer.
  10. ^ Doesn't like signatures as much as Kasabian < Thought Kasabian might have been an Australian food choice, but Google informed him it's a band. v Picks his/her nose.
  11. ^ Farted a lot as a young warthog. < Looks damn good in pantyhose, thank you very much. v Is looking for Mary Samsonite.
  12. I could eat a walrus and not gain a pound, so yes. Is Camelot a silly place?
  13. Most of my rides on all B&M hypers have been of the stapled variety. I got away with one "loose' ride on Apollo last year in the back row and feared for my life on the final ravine drop. It's easy to see why getting stapled is rather important on those particular coasters.
  14. ^What if we hold the general manager hostage with squirting mustard bottles? Everyone knows those stains are hell to get out, I don't think he would want the hassle of buying a new shirt because he didn't let us get our kiddie credit. If all else fails, get a fake pistol and take John Candy hostage (even though he's dead), that seemed to work for the Griswolds.
  15. I don't care what anyone ever says ever, this is going to be a steel coaster. For Six Flags to try to still classify it as wooden is laughable.
  16. ^Very cool design! I love the "Take the Tunnel" especially!
  17. ^To be blatantly honest, none. It's just a backup restraint in case (heaven forbid) the lapbar fails. As has already been stated by a couple others, most trains with ratcheting lapbars have a two-ratchet system in case one fails, but unless I'm mistaken, PTC trains only have a one-ratchet system. Meaning you need a backup restraint, which are the seatbelts.
  18. ^^Wait.....you rode it in August.....and it was..........................SMOOTH?!?!?!?!?! Cause I rode it in mid-August last year and my friend and I literally rode one more ride and left because of how bad our headaches were from that ride. It was bumpy, shuffled a TON, and rattled in a fashion very similar to Mean Streak. Of all the words in the English language I could use to describe that ride, "smooth" would be one of the very last I would use.
  19. I know I'll be there, and I'm getting there as early as possible.
  20. ^Yes, in the same fashion as Gemini, just without tubular steel track.
  21. So chalk this up as one of the oddest ideas I've ever seen. Steel I-beam track using the wood structure? Not even remotely close to what I was expecting. But to echo other sentiments in this thread, there's no way they could make it any worse, that coaster was unbearable last year. I almost put it in the same category as Rattler. And I would think it has to count as a new credit. New layout, new track, and no longer wooden.
