  1. There really are no words. So many park workers always scoff at the "it only takes one slip up to seriously injure/kill someone" statement, and that leads to crap like this happening. The sad thing is, this won't be even remotely close to the last time something like this happens.
  2. ^Agreed. The 2nd hill is the huge loser in the decision to add trims to the drop, but the rest of the ride is exponentially more bearable for the regular coaster rider. As much as I LOVED that ride on opening weekend, it wore me out.
  3. Looks like this is the first in a long sequence of fun experiences. That's what she said.
  4. Carowinds plays the original theme song for the park from 1973 at 9:55, then the national anthem immediately after that, then a jazzed up version of the old theme song, and then the newest theme song ("Fun And Only") after that. The Carolina Sky Tower is raised to the top of the tower in timing with the national anthem so that it reaches the top precisely when the anthem ends. This is done because the American flag is on the tower, and it's painted with stars and stripes.
  5. Is it just me or do those Timberliners go a lot slower than the PTCs? I mean I'm sure it'll change once they're broken in more and are full of riders, but jeez.
  6. It was great to see everyone yesterday, have a fun and safe trip!
  7. ^Nope, Giant Wheel is still operating. It's right next to Wicked Twister.
  8. Rampage is my most ridden wooden coaster by far. I didn't keep track last year, but I estimate it was somewhere between 130-150 rides. My most ridden steel coaster is Intimidator, which at this point I've ridden 137 times. After that, Magnum and Millennium Force are both about in the 80s. Many other coasters at CP I've ridden in the 50-60 range. Afterburn I've ridden close to 70 times, and Nighthawk is close to 50 (just because of test rides while I worked there).
  9. I lived there for a year. I know what the patrons are like. We had a woman demand a refund because the Rampage train was "coming off the track." Even after describing how a roller coaster works and how it has three sets of wheels, she still demanded her money back because we had an "unsafe" ride.
  10. ^Or this URL: http://www.alabamaadventure.com/ Methinks the people of Alabama are a little too much on the Forrest Gump side of the IQ scale, and that's why they kept the domain name.
  11. The Mega Geek Out Tour starts this Saturday, doing Kennywood, Waldameer, and two days at Cedar Point to close out the major trips for the year! Thinking about doing a video for this trip, as it will be Jen's first trip to all three of those parks. Only time will tell......
  12. ^Last time I was there (over a month ago), they were working on landscaping the land under the ride. Just because it's been open a while doesn't mean they aren't going to keep trying to get grass to grow in there.
  13. I suppose that's one good way for Alabama Adventure to get into national news.
  14. ^OK I was crying from laughing so hard.
  15. ^Seven of the current coasters (and Super Saturator) were added by Paramount.
  16. Once upon a time I was on the waiting list for this trip. Once upon a time I was dead set on going to the TPR day yesterday. Damn money problems.
  17. Skycoasters hold a giant piece of my heart. Obviously.
  18. I've heard it's going to be a new show. Probably one to replace Spongebob.
  19. Woohoo, I placed in every category!
  20. Evel Knievel and Prowler stand out in my memory. Thunderhead also had a ton of pops throughout its course. Kentucky Rumbler had a decent amount, as well.
  21. It happened at Alabama Adventure late last season. I only know because I was the first employee there on the response.
  22. ^How do you know CP started it? Have you traced back every new ride and every promotion every park did for them and discovered that CP started it? And with a user name with Magic Mountain in it, how is that not synonymous with being at least a Magic Mountain fanboy (if not all of SF, since that is their flagship park)? Last year, Kennywood just came out and said, "oh, by the way, we're building a launched coaster next year," and what were people talking about? The Intimidators and STR, because those parks actually marketed the rides leading up to the announcement. And what's a lot more annoying than me calling you out on your bias, is people who pick out something wrong with one park to complain about, yet magically forget about tons of other parks that do the same thing. For instance, where have the sharks been on Holiday World and Gravity Group? People can't wait to jump down CP, KD, and Intamin's throats for their mishaps with new rides this year, yet HW and GG get a free pass for the Timberliner debacle? CP was railed for STR opening well after the season opened, yet where were the people bashing Kennywood and Premier for Sky Rocket opening late? The double standard that's shown by a lot of people on this site is laughable, and borderline pathetic. **For the record, I'm not admonishing either HW or Kennywood for their delays, I'm actually a rational and intelligent person involved in the industry, not some pimple faced high schooler talking out of my ass. Therefore, I realize that delays and/or malfunctions occur, and it doesn't bother me when they do.
  23. ^It's no different than what BGT is doing with their new coaster, so are they annoying, as well? SFMM is doing the same thing with Superman, so is that annoying? -Steve "Once again, some SF Fanboy bitches about the dumbest crap just because it's CP" Burant
