LSM Speedboat Amusement Concept
KBrylczyk replied to chadster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seems like a cool idea but I'm seeing shadows of the S&S dragster attraction that was a complete failure. I only knew of two places that instaled it (Orlando and Lagoon) and both have since been destroyed. I'm not sure if it's because of ridership or high maintenance, though. Then again, with this being a 24 passenger boat as opposed to a one or two seater car could have a major impact on popularity. -

^ I swear if it's a friggin' boomerang... -
As in the 2nd? It probably won't be too bad. The first few weeks of Halloween attractions aren't horrific. Just be smart and bang out every maze before going for seconds. Start with getting a reservation for Special Ops: Infected, then head directly to Paranormal Inc. Once you're done there bang out Tooth Fairy, Voodoo, and Trick Or Treat since all four of those mazes are withing 50 yards of each other. Then I'd recommend working your way through the park clockwise. Make sure to check out The Hanging. If you don't you'll probably hate yourself. Don't worry about getting to The Hanging too early, though, since there's no limit on crowd. You can just stand anywhere and watch it from a reasonable distance. Elvira can and WILL cut off the line because they'll run out of seats. Focus on the haunts and shows and you'll be fine. Worry about the rides and coasters after you hit the haunts. I'll actually be there on the 1st and I'm not bothering with Fright Lane. My visit on the 22nd, though, DEFINITELY using Fright Lane. It's already bought. Just a bunch of different "escape rooms" in a row. You had to complete tasks and solve puzzles to escape. The same idea is now widespread with different themes in pretty much every city and can be found on Groupon.

Cedar Fair Tests VR at Canada's Wondelrand!

^ What he said. It could be cool but I find it rather pointless. Also, there should be a separate loading platform for crap like this, especially in North America where we're all so stupid that we can't even sit down and dispatch a train at a decent interval. If they threw these headsets on dispatch times would increase tenfold, not to mention the various morons taking their headsets off during the ride, hitting other riders, strangling themselves with the cables, etc. -

I just realized we have no clue what this will look like once the sun goes down. I can only imagine the ridiculous lighting and (hopefully) smoke effects. -
Knott's posted the Scary Farm map today. Dead Of Winter is indeed in the Trapped location. Also, apparently the "extended" Ghost Town scare zone is way WAY larger than I had anticipated! I"m curious if the dense fog from the central streets in years past will extend throughout. https://www.knotts.com/scaryfarm/blog-article/haunt/Plan-Your-Visit-To-Knotts-Scary-Farm

^ It's funny you bring that up because it was a big talking point at WCB this year. A lot of people were wondering why Trapped was taken away this year and they said it was simply because the Escape Room idea that they invented with Trapped had become an experience available all over the place year-round. They no longer felt the idea was fresh or worth the extra charge so they killed it. I think it's a fantastic idea to cycle out haunts and ideas. Trapped lasted, what, three years? That's plenty of time, bring on something new. Paranormal Inc got that budget and apparently it's going to blow the heads off of people going through it! Dead Of Winter is also going to be an incredible new haunt with all new ideas and tricks throughout, such as working with very bright environments for a haunt. Knott's knows exactly what to do to make sure people keep coming back. Not only do they bring back favorites while keeping them fresh every year, they also come up with awesome new haunts and shows and they do it all all for a fraction of the cost of some other heavy hitters in the industry.

What's your favorite Flat ride?
KBrylczyk replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Talocan at Phantasialand. Take a top spin, make it bigger, give it the craziest, longest ride cycle, then add a buttload of fire, water, and a soundtrack. It's fantastic. As for a flat that can be found in more than one place, Top Scans are pretty darn awesome. -

^ Me, probably. But then again, I've never been before, so I really don't have an outstanding reason to visit. -

I've decided every coaster train needs a lighting package just because of pictures like that. -

^ Nope. Regular oeprating hours end, the park is closed for about 2 hours, then reopens for haunt. For example, Knott's Scary Farm runs from 7pm-1am or 2am. The park is open during the day from 10am-5:30pm. If you're in line at 5:29pm you'll be able to ride but it's treated like the end of any other day. You will get off the ride and head to the exit. IF you would like to re-enter for the haunt you will need to buy a separate ticket. They may give you a season pass discount if you're lucky, but it'll only be a $5 discount. -

These progress pics have me worried. Not much seems to have changed between the August pics and September. Are they just going to dump an incredible amount of astroturf in the park? Also, only a single, thin bridge connecting the hotels to the park? I'm sure there'll be ferry services, as well, but that bridge looks like a bottleneck nightmare.
