^Not to detract from teh dumbs in this thread (and hopefully not to add to them!), but FWIW, it always used to weird me out to see that list of permissions on forums I wasn't a member of. Since it's always 100% "cannots" in that case, I always felt like I did something wrong or somehow got banned despite doing nothing, when it really means "duh, of course non-members aren't allowed to do any of that stuff."

If you could NOT park in front of my recycling can, and be caught standing right by your car "innocently" watching while the recycling truck drives past...that would be great. Thanks for listening, and stay tuned for our next edition of First World Problems!

One of my creepy band obsessions has been uncovered. (My obsession is creepy, not the band.) (Until I made them creepy.)

I finally tried myself a Not Your Father's Root Beer. I know the brand has faced questions and criticism, but I was majorly impressed. In smell and taste, it was a dead ringer for a top-quality root beer, and it showed no more than the faintest hint of a beer flavor every few sips, gone so quickly that I may've imagined it.

I figured I wouldn't exactly be a fan of T3, but I never imagined the new restraints would be a contributing factor! I'm one of those weirdos who likes Great Nor'Easter, although I'm not positive that was because of the vests. Is it true that the back is actually the best seat, and is that consistent among SLCs?

Knoebels Discussion Thread
cal1br3tto replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
FWIW, the last time I rode Legend (in 2014), I felt the need to ride very defensively on many of my laps. I almost never brace myself to that extent, or at all. I don't remember wanting to do that on Twister, which I last rode in 2014 as well. However, it's absolutely up there in laterals, and even airtime on a good day. And yes. I would say there's never any shame in spending all your money on Fascination, but I think I managed to bring shame to it last time. -

Great review. I could feel the excitement! If I have the same experience, that would automatically make it a top-5 coaster for me (not that I haven't been roughly anticipating that). -
Yeah. The big picture issues have been covered a million times, but there are some smaller things I've had the misfortune of seeing that are inexplicable and infuriating as well.

Longest coasters you've been on
cal1br3tto replied to Angle O. Descent's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not counting breakdowns, that'd be a particularly harrowing ride on Banshee....Oh, wait, this is about track length. 01. Steel Dragon 2000 02. The Beast 03. Fujiyama 04. Millennium Force 05. Voyage 06. California Screamin' 07. Desperado 08. Steel Force 08. Mamba 10. White Cyclone -
^I came close to posting about the seeming demise of CoasterCounter a couple times when I noticed it, but I just couldn't bring myself to say anything when it seems so played out among today's enthusiasts. Thankfully, I stopped counting laps years ago, and in fact, I don't even count most of my coasters on that site. Relieved that it's back, though, so I can check up on my rankings, which is why I kept on with it after whenever I sensed we'd all stopped caring. (I should really put them somewhere else after that scare.) And this. .

Adventureland (Iowa) Discussion Thread
cal1br3tto replied to rbpia's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Wow. That's a tragedy first and foremost (and from glancing at reports, it sounds like guests witnessed it), but also unfortunate and unexpected after such positive updates from the park. Sorry to hear the news. -
Here is my sternum moth from October. It lost a bit of ink in the antennae, but otherwise looks about the same as this fresh photo. Just for fun, I thought I'd do the survey from the very beginning of this thread. 1. Pain level of your tattoo, 1 to 10, 10 being the worst pain possible. In the moment, I pegged it as ranging from a 3-5 or maybe a 4-6. In hindsight, it was possibly more like a 2-4. The vibration over bone is extremely uncomfortable, and the shading was particularly "chompy" (artist's quite accurate wording). Outlining really does feel like a cat scratching a sunburn, as many say. 2. How long did it take? To outline? To fill in? To completely heal? I wasn't keeping track, but judging by the price it was probably finished in 2 hours, with one short break. 3. Is there anything to numb the area, before getting stabbed to death? This exists but is not widely recommended. Other pain-reducing measures (such as OTC pain relievers or alcohol) are recommended against or forbidden as well, until after everything's all finished, that is! 4. Are you happy with your results? Regrets? Yes. I'm no expert in judging technical qualities, so what could be a slight flaw may also be perfectly normal or an inherent limitation. If not, that's okay, too. I only regret that Harry Styles has almost the same one. 5. Cost? Don't expect more than a general idea for pricing in most cases (until you're given your quote), as there are many variables at play both between and within shops. Mine was $250 including tip. 6. How do I know the right place to get it? The Internet. But take advice with a grain of salt, as you can easily be misled or miss helpful information. Current and anticipated work requirements, interest in showing it off, ease of seeing it yourself, effort you're willing to take to hide it if needed, and possible longevity issues may all affect you long-term. It's up to you whether you want to factor in the expected pain level, but I'd say not to make that the top priority, myself. It helps to consider how your design fits and possibly complements different areas of your body, and a good artist can add input on this as well. And make sure your idea is your top choice for that particular spot! 7. Did you have any excessive redness/infections/irritation? I was afraid I was the kind of person who might, but I didn't.

^^It always used to trip me out when people referred to parks of that size as "smaller" or "modest" or whatnot (though I have been guilty of that a couple times more recently). I mean, there aren't that many parks with truly hefty coaster collections...are there? Six or seven still feels squarely "medium" to me, I'd say.

Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread

^Ha, it seemed so close at the time that I just figured seeing it was a given. It is cool that an internationally successful theming company happens to be so close to one of its clients. -

Fact! The theming is adorable and extensive, probably as close to "immersive" as you'll get for a compact, family park. You'll actually drive by the theming design company, Imagination Corporation, in Chilliwack on the way to and from the park; they've got a fanciful building in the same style as the park theming. -
New Coaster for Camden Park
cal1br3tto replied to John Peck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yeah! Not only is it an awesome addition for kids and families, it's a halfway decent (as much as a kiddie coaster can be) bonus credit for enthusiasts. Now I don't feel quite so bad for always putting off going there (I've been within a few hours of it at least a couple times); just hope its other selling points stay the same! -

Mmm, a Chariot Gypsy red wine from Trader Joe's (as per usual). It's got a pretty strong flavor. And also a pretty strong strength. Which I'm not used to at the moment.
