  1. ^And of course the fun part --- they are not filled with sand- they are filled with metal washers!
  2. The lube which helps the wheels turn needs help warming up. The CCMR at CP needs three full cars sand-bagged if it goes below 70 overnight- and always needs at least one car bagged at all times- partially because it is such an old coaster. Raptor is the same way, except that they use people (!) Anyways, I asked this question on one of the I-305/KD threads and no one answered, so I'll ask it here: Are the Boo Blasters attractions going into KD and KI going to have fully new scenery or did they just remove Scooby Doo and his posse and leave everything else?
  3. Looking at the overview shots of this coaster- Am I the only one who thinks it looks like it was taken from an RCT Park. You know, you build a huge lift hill and then drop and then realize you don't own the land directly in front so you curve it... It looks almost unfinished...one drop and then...looks neat though.
  4. Does Boo Blasters at KD and KI have fully new scenery or did they just pull Scooby Doo and his pot smokin' friends out and leave everything else?
  5. Uh...Beverly! The fact that its nasty is the fun part of it! Harry Potter also Worm, Dirt, & Vomit flavored Jelly Beans, themed after them don't forget.
  6. Oh I get it! Its okay to clear cut a huge chunk of the park's small number of trees out because they are filling the entire area with water and people will applaud it because its Cedar Point. Give me WWL through the trees any day before I'll get excited over "Clear Cut- The Ride."
  7. I think this would make an interesting poll question. Thinking back to the past few parks I was at alone. The last one was Kings Island for Pride Night- the lines were social enough that it didn't matter it you were with anyone or not- plus I did run into some friends. The next day at the Ren Fest I had a blast- being alone made it easier to talk to the shop keepers, entertainers, etc. About a year earlier I did SFGAm with a Q-Bot alone and this was fun too. EPCOT is also fun alone for the same reason as the Ren Fest. It is usually not hard to get people from the area to go to Cedar Point with me; however beyond that I am on my own traveling anywhere more than two hours away. I just don't have any local friends who see the point of traveling more than 120 miles away to go to a Theme Park with CP just down the Coast.
  8. Branson is in Missouri (MO), not Mississippi (MS). Anyways, I want to know if he worked in more jobs than they showed or was he targeted at the "sad story" employees by management OR does HFC just happen to have a disproportionate number of employees with huge problems? I vote for the 3rd one
  9. I would love to hit BGW this summer...too bad the Governor of VA has made it clear that people like me aren't welcomed in that state. I guess I will spend my tourist budget elsewhere!
  10. ^You beat me to it...I was going to repost that photo and say, "Am I the only one who finds this photo a tad kinky?" but I guess I won't now
  11. Why is it "Jasmine's" ride? Did she get Aladin's carpet in the divorce settlement?
  12. What is "I305?" The US Interstate 305 (I-305) is in California... I love the pics of those cute little puppies! When I worked at Sea World in Orlando there were days when I got to play with the Busch Dalmatians during my breaks It is neat how they are working dogs back into the mix as well. FUN FACT: Dalmatians were used by Bud (and old fire trucks) because they can run fast and would fend off other dogs who would want to chase the horses when they were running. That toy the pup is playing with looks like my dog's favorite outdoor toy. She even has it listed as her favorite activity on her Facebook page! Yes my dog has her own Facebook page- when your named after a roller coaster you do things like that I guess! PS: I just watched the video above. My dog has that same black basket-ball too. She loves to played soccer with it. I should actually say she "had" that same ball. It disappeared about a week ago...it all makes since now...damn sheep! So Cute!
  13. I've lost hope for the TX Giant project knowing that the company behind the spine-buster known as the GL Villain is involved with it!
  14. Erik, Ooops, there was a typo in my post that you answered- sorry about that. It was supposed to say "Is the..." not "Its the..." I worked at the Sand Lake/I-Drive Mickey D's for a short time just before I left Orlando in 1995. Back then there was an animatronic Ronald McDonald & Friends show in the 2nd floor seating area- don't know if its still there. It was also note-worthy for having a robotic arm that made the fries and a machine for drive-thru which made the drinks. It also had a "new" concept called a "Walking Drive Thru." You would place your order at a register set out away from the main counter and then walk up towards the counter to pay and get your food- it was supposed to be faster. I think some of the Disney counter-service locations do/did this as well. It was such a horrible place to work in some respects. Management was infamous for not being able to get schedules made or posted before the week they were for began. At 3 or 4 am, they would switch over to breakfast and we'd have young people coming in after the bars closed wanting Big Macs and stuff and they would get mad that we had switched to breakfast already. In other ways- it was great to work there- the local franchisee actually had the crew members go through customer service training and we often got free food. We also had items on the menu which had been discontinued at most McDonald's like McPizza and Teriyaki Chicken Nuggets.
  15. ^Yeah, I remember when I was working in Disney Transportation- talking to a guest on Earth Day was said that EPCOT was holding a special event that day- but was complaining that "Disney" wasn't doing anything special that day.
  16. Are the Bistro Mc-D fries the same fries? They look a bit "browner" in your pics. Its the "world's largest" one- the one at Sand Lake & I-Drive with the animatronic Ronald McDonald?
  17. Yes it does matter, because if CP fanboys don't have anything to complain or boast about, they will spontaneously explode into a gooey puddle. Their rides need to be better and different than all others...or else!
  18. ^GL rarely (ever?) used their dual loading stations. KI does and I think this makes a big difference in the queue time.
  19. ^Are you calling me a dork? Just kidding. I worked in Water Transportation for the MK for almost a year back in the mid-90's so I know a lot about the stuff surrounding the two lakes.
  20. In your opening post re: WDW in 1972 you said that there was only one on-site Disney Hotel- there were two- Contemporary & Polynesian both opened in October 1971 with the MK. You said you stayed at Fort Wilderness, in any of your older photos do you have pics of the train that used to run around the property? Also wasn't the tram to the Main Gate only for the resorts?
  21. I am not so thrilled that an adorable kiddie wooden coaster is getting the same name as an "off the shelf" roller-skater. Although I guess WOOD-stock being a WOOD coaster makes a tiny bit of sense, but still...
  22. I used to love these rides! They used to have one at the Cattaraugus County Fair in Little Valley, NY that I think was called the Grasshopper or something weird like that. I am 99% certain however that the end that up kept spinning while the other end was loading. I seem to have a memory of being on the spinning end while the other side was being unloading and the ride op apparently forgot that the other end was loaded because we were up there spinning forever ) ^^I thought that too about the noise- but I think that it might have been something out of field of the camera making those noises.
  23. I love (actually hate, but love sounds better) how in movies they always use variations of "Magic Mountain" and its rides as the names of parks that the characters visit. Like in "Encino Man"- they go to Mega Mountain and ride the Vapor. I've seen TV shows that reference Miracle Mountain too. I am sure there are others but this is all I can think of off-hand. Oh wait...what's the park's name when it appears in the cheesy movie Roller-Coaster (you know your a coaster nerd when you watch that movie and sit there and describe, in detail, the reasons why that movie was impossible). Its kind of lame that the writers of these movies couldn't come up with something that wasn't so obviously a rip off of their closest park.
  24. Untrue- Ceder Creek Mine Ride's biggest drop is about 1/2 way between the two lifts when it drops down towards the water- and this is not its first drop. I was wondering what that bridge was for in the photos- then it dawned on me that it must be to evac the ride if necessary.
