  1. 25 on the Voyage, front seat. Anywhere else and I would have suffered some sort of dain bramage.
  2. Don't worry, Six Flags will find a way to open this weekend and say all the water in the park is theming! Waterworld: The Park; Sponsored by Geico
  3. Of course rcdb is WAY wrong. Eagle's Fortress will forever travel 0 mph. In all seriousness, the layout and the close proximity of the trees can make it seem to travel faster than it does. Unfortunately we will never know how fast it actually is...
  4. ^ I would consider that a year they missed out on adding a new ride.
  5. I hope the "record breaking" isn't most airtime on a coaster. Diamondback is an airtime machine, but the ride doesn't do much for me otherwise.
  6. ^ Remember, this product isn't just for gaming. Many companies use this software to demonstrate their product and the more realistic the demonstration, the more likely the company is to get the contract.
  7. ^^ Slowly but surely that saying is becoming less and less true. ^ I have driven past that site numerous times recently and the dump could easily be transformed by a few pieces of heavy machinery. Also, something unique to SFKK would be a non-clone. Every roller coaster at KK is a clone except for Thunder Run...
  8. Believe me, you should be glad that the Looping Star was not open. I thought that kind of violation was restricted to prisons but I was wrong.
  9. Just drove by the northwest corner of the park and saw another sign back there to add to the Thunder Run sign; the Rainbow sign in all of its glory is back there along with the old diamond-shaped mirror that used to be in the middle of Breakdance. Also there is a full sized stock car from top fuel dragster ride back there as well. I wish I would have taken my camera. I have come to the conclusion that the area is not a bad area of town but that the park makes it look bad. The overgrowth is ridiculous and if not for the maintenance sheds back there, I would suggest selling that section of the park to the city for beautification and commerce.
  10. ^ Not exactly the newspaper. WHAS 11 was the television station that made the comments on starchaser. They said that the ride was unsafe and that the park took off a very important safety device of the ride causing one train to collide with another. The Courier-Journal knows the general image of the park and wanted to entice readers by pandering that image. The public wants to feel right about its views and do not take well to being proven wrong. Give the people what they want to hear as the old saying goes. It's not always about alliances/enemies between companies (which I guarantee that the courier has no affiliation with anyone at Intamin) It's just about ratings and money.
  11. No if you mean yourself, yes if you mean the coaster Have you ever eaten at a KFC in Kentucky?
  12. After visiting the park and going through the numbing of my body by Chang, the bludgeoning of T2, and the rib-splitting of Roadrunner, I think KK needs a small sit-down steel coaster. (Not a launched coaster like Grease Lightnin', a full circuit coaster) Surprisingly the most fun roller coaster at the park to me is Thunder Run. If they can get a coaster that can thrill riders and not cause bodily harm, it would be a step in the right direction... ≥
  13. Possibly the one I saw being cleaned had the seats removed later that day/week. It was about 5 or 6 weeks ago that I noticed the 2 trains and I hadn't ridden it until yesterday due to the pain it creates so I didn't see the one missing til then. If I knew that it was strange to see 2 on the tracks I would have taken a picture.
  14. ^Not true. It was there a couple weeks ago on the transfer track. One train was swapped for another one earlier in the season while I was at the park. The ride was closed and one train was cleaned and sat on the transfer track to dry after a run of sprinkling onlookers waiting for the ride to open. The ride opened 20 minutes later running the train that was previously on the transfer track. It might have left for a little while last year but there were two present previously this year. p.s. cody: go flyers!
  15. ^ (From my understanding) There is another track that is "x" distance away from the train which changes distance x throughout the course. As that distance changes, the wheels that run on the x track move up and down, turning a gear on the train. This gear then rotates the seats on the train. The only way to alter the way the seats rotate would be to change the track or remove the existing x track and replace it with a new x track. OR.... would it be called y track..... hahaha
  16. ^ I would take Terminator without the theming if it meant KK would get a GCII coaster. Went to the park yesterday. BREAKING NEWS: Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls are still closed. haha Actually there is a bit of interesting news from the park today. The second train from T2 is missing. I am not sure if maintenance is being done on the train, but the chassis are still on the transfer track. I just noticed this now but it might have happened a week or two ago because I hadn't been to the park for awhile. Also, Thunder Run ran really well today in both the front and back and Greased Lightnin broke down again. I could see that coming at the beginning of the day, the first ride on it of the day went a foot or two past their assigned queue gates.
  17. ^ & ^^ You guys were lucky enough to get over to Germany to ride El Toro!!! That's awesome! How was it? haha just kidding. After riding the Kentucky Rumbler, I will say that it is my favorite drop on a wooden coaster. The push off of the lift is impressive and provides an amazing amount of speed into the main drop. Although it doesn't look like much, it really is amazing!
  18. ^ Insane is an Intamin Ball Coaster or Zac Spin, whatever you want to call it. They visited it and even had ERT on it, thus the reason I posed the question to those that went on the trip. Thunder Run will continue to run the way it does until it is demolished. The cost to do the necessary maintenance would greatly outweigh the benefit. It is rough but I would hate to see money wasted on fighting a losing battle *cough*bailouts*cough* (sorry I had to...) KK needs to do what they can to keep it safe for the next 5-10 years and then tear it down. Man, I wish a company other than Six Flags and CP owned the park...
  19. Why not instead of a somewhat generic impulse coaster like wicked twister, (not to say it isn't fun, it's actually one of my favorite rides at CP) why not go with an intamin ball coaster? That would draw GP and Enthusiast crowds being the only coaster of its kind in the US. That is what KK is missing. I remember the hoopla that occurred when Chang was built because it was somewhat unique. I think that a "unique" ride experience would draw crowds. The only question I would have about it can probably be answered by those that went on the Scandi Trip. What kind of capacity does Insane have? Would it be a feasible addition to a six flags park? p.s. Give me a GCI before Intamin any day.
  20. ^what he was saying is that all wooden coasters have a form of upstop device. (most of which are wheels) ^^I believe that if the track can handle the forces or braking with the magnets, it can withstand the force of acceleration.
  21. ^ It wouldn't have to necessarily be the main focus of the ride. If done right I think a launch would work great for a terrain coaster. ^^ Wooden coasters are typically less expensive than steel. If a wooden coaster could be launched and not require "high" vertical construction, that price could be lowered even more. Imagine Prowler with a launch instead of a lift hill. I think that would be really neat.
  22. ^ Haha no one yet... It would be an amazing idea though. Technically any train that uses magnetic brakes can be launched by reversing the brake.
  23. it works tho. They ran them on Holiday worlds Raven. And still its a improvement on the ride. Also, why would they need to upgrade the brakes and ride system? These are designed to be placed on and work just like a regular coaster train. The Timberliners are different trains, which require new censors and magnetic brakes which are very expensive. Also, while the chasis with the stripped down bench is running, we don't know how well the train will ride and what effects it will have on the structure over time. Until they are tested for a couple years on a more tame coaster, I wouldn't want to see them on SOB
  24. ^^ Another experimental idea.... just what Son of Beast needs... Imagine this idea failing and the ride experience being the same. 1.) Very expensive refurb(trains, control systems, and brakes) and nothing gained for cedar fair 2.) Bad publicity for the new trains for GG Just cut your losses CF. The structure was flawed and will not continue to hold up. Timberliners aren't going to be the answer to every wooden coaster flaw until they have a fully functional train that has run for a couple years.
