In my opinion, I don't think Twisted Twins will ever operate again. Driving by the ride every now and then, you can see it would need more work than it is worth. The track steel is almost completely rusted, the wood that the steel rests on is dried out and splintered in many turns and pull-outs where high g's have taken place, and the base of the structure is not in good shape at all. This would cost a pretty penny and would provide a tired ride experience. I certainly hope that Hart focuses his money elsewhere.

The GCI Mystery Project
CoasterCard replied to atem122's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've figured it out. Since all we have seen so far is 3d renderings, this ride is going to appear across the US and the world.... in a simulator! Think about it, the reason they are only taking on 1 project this year is so they can work with the simulation company on getting the ride experience exactly right. Everyone would want to ride this GCI terrain coaster and by putting it in a simulator, everyone can!!! (sarcasm for anyone wondering) Seriously though, there is absolutely a 0% chance that this is a practical joke. Interns are being put to work doing much more important things than playing jokes on enthusiasts. The interns there really earn their pay... -
Become a Fan of Great Coasters International on Facebook and if they reach 1000 you will get to see a never-before-released video. No telling what it is, but it can't hurt and it gives you something to watch. Besides, we all know that there are more than 1000 Fans of GCII out there... Here's a link to their page

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

^ However, if it doesn't make the ride a lot smoother and you are a park with a rough wooden coaster, are you going to want to toss a half million dollars into something that didn't work the previous time? Holiday world may lose the money, but GG would have wasted time and lots of money on something they can't sell... -

^ Everyone is yet to experience a Timberliner. That's why I think GG is really sticking their neck out by choosing Voyage for the first application. If the ride actually becomes smoother it's a win for them, but if the ride doesn't greatly improve, it could end up costing them quite a bit of money. Also if you like a classy/classic look, the Millennium Flyers are what you're looking for. They're modeled after the Prior and Church Century Flyers used in the 1920's aka the Golden Age of Coasters. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Man, I hope this works for them. We have still yet to see the actual trains that will be going on the track. The only way I was able to ride Voyage in the back was to grab hold of the bar and sit forward. If the shakiness is not improved tremendously, this could be quite the uncomfortable experience. -
Six Flags Great Adventure 10/16/09

I was at the park at opening on Saturday. The weather was cold but the predicted rain held off. (One of the few times I'm happy the weatherman was wrong! haha) For the first 3 hours of being there, my friend and I were one of probably 300 people there. The park was literally a ghost town. We walked on every ride and got numerous re-rides. (Thanks to the ride-ops who were pretty awesome) The longest wait we had all day was for Kingda Ka, but in my opinion 20 minutes is not long of a wait for the tallest coaster in the world. All the rides were solid and I couldn't distinguish a favorite. Everyone kept saying how awesome El toro is but after the first 2 hill the ride did not impress me too much. It seemed to slow down considerably throughout the turns which I was expecting it to fly through. Overall, it was a fun day and I would definitely go back. Hopefully with the same type of crowds although it probably doesn't happen too often. -
We might be finding out where Chang is going soon. A lot of track and supports are being loaded onto the back of tractor trailers. However, the it might just go into storage if they really are still deciding where to send it. (which I highly doubt) All low lying track has been removed along with the supports for that area. I would say the taller stuff (lift hill, loop dive loop, turn around) will either come down soon, or, due to the absence of a taller crane, will most likely not happen until the off season. Especially since there is no apparent hurry by SF to get it constructed.

What do you think about this coming Saturday? I'm going to be at the park and was wondering what to expect in the way of crowds. Also, is there a plan of attack on a saturday other than get there early? I've read some places saying to start with Kingda Ka and other places saying to start to the right with Nitro and Batman. Thanks for any help you can give.

I love the pictures of the old Phantom animatronics! I like that KI is still using those -
Efteling Discussion Thread

The straight track after that first drop looks like the longest straightaway on any GCI to date. I can't wait to see if there's a lot of pops of air through that segment. The ride itself looks amazing and I can't wait to see what Efteling does with themeing! -
Robb Alvey on In the Loop Live!

^Not really much to watch unless the webcam gets paid for this week... It is still entertaining nonetheless. -
Wow, having ridden both Thunder Run and The Rumbler, countless times each, I never thought I would hear anyone say Thunder Run is better than The Rumbler... I think that Thunder Run is the second best ride at KK but the KY Rumbler is on a completely different level than Thunder Run. I'm not sure what this rating is based on, but every way I can think to rate it gives the win to Rumbler. First drop, airtime, speed, forces, comfort, etc. The only thing I can think of that Thunder Run has going for it is its location compared to the Rumbler. The Rumbler was no where near a "miss" for GCI.

^ Not the case at all. They will do whatever the park wants more or less... It's just costly to incorporate all of the needed equipment to run a completely different set of trains. (Brakes, sensors, q-gate, airlines, etc.) The thing I worry about is that Six Flags is trying to cut costs which in turn is going to effect quality. What might have needed to be done might not get done because one company says that they can do it cheaper. They better not take any shortcuts on this one....

^ The Ferris Wheel would be the easiest ride in the park to move. The way it is set up, the ride could be there at the end of the day Friday and be gone Monday morning. Which I think is a very real possibility... SFKK has already shown what direction they want the park to go in from the Chang removal. Why keep any rides around if you are going to be a waterpark? The "family-friendly" part of a waterpark is kiddie areas and smaller slides, not kiddie coasters and carousels.
