If you are currently serving in the military for any country, or you did at one time, please say where and what branch. I'm currently in the Oregon Army National Guard (and about to be deployed).

Honestly, I don't drink often, but when I do, it's to get drunk. Besides, I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol, so it doesn't take much for me to get plowed.

I don't like the taste of beer, but then I've only tried Coors Light (that may have been the problem). Besides, beer doesn't get you drunk fast enough like the foo foo drinks. Try an AMF and you'll understand why.

This was taken while I was at Yakima Training Center in central Washington. Even though it was mid-September, I did get a little sunburnt. They say a guy looks good in a uniform, but I beg to differ.

Only if they're made right. Sorry MacDonald's, but Burger King's fries are better. Do you like the A-Team?

That would all depend on how you define "stupid movies". If we're talking about parodies like Airplaine!, Naked Gun, Spaceballs--then Yes. (These movies are funnier when you're drunk.) If we're talking about poorly made movies like Armeggedon, Independence Day, The Fog (remake version), Napolean Dynamite, or just about any Van Damm movies--then No. Will it be a white Christmas?

. . . gummy worms swimming through chocolate pudding and crushed Oreo cookies. Oh man, now I'm hungry.

NO!!! I can't believe they brought them back. It's bear season again! Is Santa Claus real?

This has been one of my favorite songs since high school. It came out not long after one of my own incidents. Runaway Train by Soul Asylum

There's a whole series of books about worst case scenarios. My favorite one is about surviving college with tips on how to cram for tests and BS on papers. It also had pointers on dating several people at the same time and how to fake it during sex. As for this web site, I disagree with how to navigate a minefield. The best option is to use a stick and gentle poke the ground as you move. Anti-personnel mines can be as small as two inches in diameter, so walking back over your own steps is not a good idea (used only if you're in a hurry).

That reminds me of the meningitis outbreak we had when I was in Basic Training. We were quaratineed for several days to the barracks until they could get everyone innoculated. Never had such a bad case of cabin fever in my life. We were about to strangle each other before they finally let us out.

No. It's usually Enya or Yanni. Does Christmas music drive you nuts during Thanksgiving?

^ I'm an English major, and I do find that English (British) novels are a lot harder to read than American novels. Part of it is because they're often a higher reading level. Most American authors tend to write around the eighth or ninth grade reading level. I will admit that I did have a hard time reading Lord of the Rings during high school, but as I got older, the easier they were to read. Another thing I've found is that British novels tend to be more social commentary than anything else, and that is something that is hard to follow for Americans. Take "Pride and Prejudice" for example. I couldn't for the life of me finish that book for one of my classes (in my opinion it's poorly written and often meanders aimlessly), and I still can't understand why people keep making it into a movie. So much of it is about the time period and the place, most of which no longer applies to today, or for Americans for that matter. And if you noticed my last post on this thread, you'll see what I usually read. I'm often butting heads with my Enlish professors about what is good literature and what is trash.

I said "yes" because I actually have on a couple of occasions. The first time was when I was on a Mormon mission. The second time was during my last deployment with the National Guard. And I'll be taking a leave of absence when I go off to Afghanistan. -
I read Stephen King's "The Stand" one summer. Never looked at the summer time flu the same since.
