News: PETA Files Suit Against SeaWorld
atem122 replied to chadster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I doubt PETA is actually expecting to get anything done with this. It's just a publicity stunt. -

Wake Up-Arcade Fire I don't think I'll ever tire of this band.

In what way is it cool to call someone the lesbian equivalent of Bieber? That's not even a funny insult, and it's just offensive to the person, and the LGBT community (cue: gay/lesbian person not being offended by it and therefore making it okay). Further, when people insult the monsters, they're insulting the actor's character, and not the actor himself. If a person saw a haunt actor on the street, he wouldn't just call him a douche bag, but when the actor is in character, he might (note: not everyone would), and it wouldn't be a personal insult because it's not directed at the actor. This insult, however, was directed at an actual person. A paying park guest, at that. I do think that the ProActiv comment wasn't that bad, and probably should've been shaken off, but the other one was a display of bigotry, and the actor should be held accountable for that.

Beirut: Greek Theater, Los Angeles A really amazing show in a great venue. Lame crowd, though, so it kinda ruined some of the fun.

Arcade Fire for a giant free show at the Place des Arts in Montreal, Quebec. It was amazing! The band sounded good as usual, and the atmosphere of being outside right in the middle of the city was just perfect. It was estimated that 101,000 people showed up for the show.

I met Win Butler, lead singer of Arcade Fire, last night. Happiest moment of my life! -

Yeah, honestly, most of the reasons presented really don't stack up very well. The long break run isn't needed, because the ride slows down completely in the near horizontal part of it, and then it tilts and coasts slowly down the mile long (citation needed) brake run. It's most likely the fact that this ride is a) tall and b) made by a very expensive company, so they cut the ride short to avoid going too much into the red. Once again, just a hypothesis, but it seems more plausible than something like a visual effect, because the ride's visual effect is its 300 foot lift hill. -
Bon Iver at the Shrine = absolutely amazing. It's the first time I've ever seen an individual song (at a real show) get a (well deserved) standing ovation. Can't wait for Arcade Fire tomorrow.

My week consists of seeing Bon Iver tomorrow night, and Arcade Fire Thursday night. Bring it.

The rationale was probably that it's much cheaper to make a 300 foot tall ride at its halfway point rather than give it a more full course. -
To be honest, the kennel isn't in as blatant of a spot as everyone's portraying it to be. It's off to the very side of the parking lot away from where everyone drives in. If someone did a little research online or asked guest services, I'm sure the person could figure out that they do have a kennel, but it's in now way obvious that the park has a kennel. The kennel also looks like a redneck bar simply named "The Dog Pound," so there's that, too.

I saw The National at the Hollywood Bowl last night. It was really amazing show. Their music is just so good, and their lead singer is really fun to watch.

True, but in this case, it's too long vs. an appropriate length! -

A couple weeks ago, I was listening to the radio in my car, and this segment came on about amusement parks. It eventually shifted to an extended interview and segment about Cole Lindbergh, the guy who makes the videos for the Worlds of Fun games department like this one right here: It's a really interesting segment, and this guy sounds like the most awesome person on Earth. If you're interested, here's the link. Enjoy!
