  1. I already planned on not renewing my season pass next year. I just got bored of going all the time in the summer. I will be finally getting a Kings Dominion season pass next year since I have never been to Carowinds and with CF getting so much awesomeness next year. I also meant to say this is such a NEEDED thing for the water park. The lazy river looks so pathetic currently and I can not wait to see this come to fruition. I am just a little confused why they were pushing the grim reaper in Gotham City.
  2. You go so slow on the up hill part. That is what I do not like about the traditional uphill slides. Now the newer ones like Fiesta Texas has is awesome. There are no slow parts. Even though I know Zoomazon Falls is really old they are my favorite water slides in the park. They are so fast! Last time I went I flipped over my stomach without even trying. I remember when you it was Adventure World and you use tubes on them. You would almost fly off. If a update is coming to the water park.... can we please fix the really sad looking pool/lazy river area?
  3. I sure hope no Disko. They are fun but they are every where. I want something new and different. Even though I was very happy to see Wonder Woman added this year because it shows they will put money into the park, it sure did not make me go to the park because its nothing new. Especially since I have ridden both of the worlds tallest Sky Screamers. I LOVE the teasers. This park usually does not get into the teaser thing so much which could mean SFI could be wanting to get behind this park more and more. I would love a retheme to Gotham City only because Superman is NOT part of GC. I have thought that since they added it. DC Universe would fit so much better. Many of you are talking about Spinsanity. Which ones? Fiesta Taxes's is a simple Tilt a Whirl which the park removed. The other that I have seen is the Troika. Which are kinda fun. Definitely a good family ride. Now a Spinsanity giant discovery or The Claw (Hershey) would be AWESOME! I love them. I would also love to see a Screaming Swing since there are not many of them on the east coast.
  4. To my Theme Park Review family, I am a staff member to this amazing organization called In Theory Youth Services. It is a group of people who come together to perform in the awesome sport of color guard. I have now been part of this group for two winter seasons and let me say they are really good! Color guard brings so many people together from so many different back grounds. This particular group reaches a demographic that leans on the group for support not just in athleticism of Color Guard but also as a moral compass for the world. This year we have decided to try to tackle having four different groups - an A Guard, Senior Guard, World Guard, and Twirlers. This is going to be a HUGE undertaking for us and we need all the help we can get. Color guard is so much more then putting on a fancy costume and dancing with a flag, rifle, or saber. There is countless hours of practice which involves needing space big enough to toss the equipment, there is the equipment itself - wooden rifles, flags, and sabers, there are the costumes which can cost in the $1,000's per season, depending on the theme of the each of the 4 shows there may be a need to make/buy props, there is also the need to transport all these people, props, equipment, costumes, etc. to a show pretty much every weekend from late winter to early spring. Finally, there are the two biggest shows of the season... Dayton, OH and Wildwood, NJ. These trips require multiple days away. Therefore, travel expenses, food, and lodging are all needed. We would love any support you can give even if its just $5.00. Anything and everything will help us. https://www.facebook.com/donate/116613518996230/10156639343558986/
  5. I'd love to see the pirate ship removed. Last year when I went it was down every time. I only went once this year and it was down. When it is running its a terrible version or perhaps they have it on a terrible cycle. It doesn't go high at all. Best is still the one at Fun Land in Rehoboth. I would love to see this replaced. The Shoot the Shoot is extremely popular even into October so maybe that will survive a few more seasons. Let's not forget about Pirate's Flight. That ride is hardly ever that crowded.
  6. I LOVE the Batman clones and could def re-ride multiple times. Then again I can ride spinny rides with no effect at all back to back to back to back to back lol Maybe once I get older I won't be able to.
  7. Quantity is not always better than quality. I feel Dorney is a better park in regards to operations and they have a much much much better water park. Probably the second best water park within an amusement park behind Holiday World. Both parks opened nothing special that makes them stand out ride wise. We received two used coasters that definitely are not stand outs. Even though Wonder Woman is a fun ride, its nothing new. There are plenty of Sky Screamer's in the world. The water park additions within Six Flags America are nothing new, again cookie cutter slides. Dorney received custom slides or what appears to be a custom slide tower. Both parks received generic carnival style flat rides. On the flip side Dorney started making changes to their park on the operational stand point where Six Flags lacks. Dorney started the Fast Pay wrist band which in my opinion is awesome so I do not have to carry my credit/bank card or cash with me. Dorney is now going to give children under 5 a season pass. This will help so many families. I never understood why parks make you pay for a child that young when they can not participate in 90% of what the park has to offer. Let's not forget Cedar Fair's line skipper in the best in the business. No need to go about your day darting from ride to ride depending on a certain time to ride. At Cedar Fair you can simply go from ride to ride and have one less worry.
  8. Looks like an awesome ride! Can not wait to get my Cedar Fair season pass already for next year.
  9. It's going to be an absolute sh*tshow, but anyone who goes to Fright Fest should expect nothing less. Personally, I'll see you guys at Holiday in the Park. I go to this park almost every year for FF. I always get a flash pass so I never have any trouble.
  10. This looks AMAZING! I have never been to this park but now I feel the absolute need to get there.
  11. Six Flags does this all the time for this park - the advertising with other parks in it. They have gotten better over the years though. I just thought it was funny that literally the first thing I see is not even at our park. Since people were talking about the old Batman venue... I used to LOVE the Thursday night concert series they did through out the summer about 10 years ago. They would get up and coming artist/Disney Channel/Nickelodeon artist to perform concerts. They would be included with park admission and you could buy a $10 pack of Starburst to sit in the floor section. This was a great way for parents to be able to afford to get their kids to concerts, especially if you had a season pass. I saw Raven Symone, Aly and AJ, Jordan Pruitt (way before her Voice days), Jonas Brothers (before they sky rocketed), Danity Kane, Katherine McPhee and various other artist.

  13. The mazes may possibly be free like at SFFT and TGE. Still not wasting my time. They are NOT scary at all. Not gonna waste my time waiting in a line going through a haunted attraction that is not scary. Wasted my time at Six Flags America, Six Flags Great Adventure, Kings Dominion, and Dorney Park hoping one of them would be scary. They send too many people through. I will stick with places that specialize in haunted attractions like Laurel's House of Horrors, Kim's Krypt, Frightland, Field of Screams (PA one - MD one is terrible), and various others in the MD, PA, VA, DE area. I just checked the website... The Awakening is back this year. One section of the Fright Fest page says 5 new shows but then at the bottom it reads 4 new shows. Looks like they need to do some updating to the page. Also, I think its silly they have Mr. Freeze as the first thing I see when I log onto their page and that's not even at our park.
  14. Not sure if this is the right thread for this.... Also have not researched extensively enough to see if these are real things or not... - A Scrambler designed so that when the arms are extended out the seats spin. - A pirate ship where seats face the outside of the ship on both sides - A Hurricane where when the seats fling out they spin
  15. Just watched The Belko Experiment. I thought it was a decent movie. I love the pure savageness of it.
  16. Can not wait for Fright Fest only because I can get some decent night rides on Superman. Won't be wasting any money on the mazes but love riding the rides when its not hot.
  17. Yup, saw those. Maybe they are running something for the bathroom that people keep crying that they want. I'm actually on my way now. Those trees were removed to let the fire engine through when JJ got stuck. Bathrooms back by Superman/Batwing would be awesome! Also, a drink stand back by Batwing to get refills would be pretty nice too. It seems/appears Six Flags may finally be bringing this park away from the red headed step child shadow its been in a long time.
  18. They are really fun! Cedar Fair has them at some of their parks.
  19. I say take out the ferris wheel and that whole middle section of games/food stands in front of the whip. This would open up a lot of space I think. Also there appears to be some space behind the cabannas and next to Sidewinder. It would be nice to have a path from the water park to Tidal Force so you can easily enter from there instead of having to come all the way out to ride it.
  20. I really hope it's not one. Medusa Steel might have been my favorite RMC if it wasn't for the first drop, which is the only 'mehh' part of that whole ride, to me. Storm Chaser's drop also underwhelmed me the same way. They look cool, but they're pretty forceless in reality, especially in the front. Straight, simple, super steep drops are far superior. Ah, so this is why enthusiasts like to talk sh*t on the barrel roll drops? Figures. I couldn't care less if these drops are forceless, the drop on Storm Chaser is different and a ton of fun. And every RMC is so packed with better airtime that it doesn't really matter that the first drop is forceless and doesn't have airtime. The pics look great! Thanks for posting, I'm excited to see the layout of this one. Hopefully I'll make it out to VA in the next few years to ride this and I-305. I totally agree inversions do not have to be forceful at all. I LOVE the first inversion on Hydra - very slow and on forceful but still fun.
  21. Not having shade never bothers me. If I want to be out of the sun so bad I will just not go to an amusement park in the summer. I get shaving some but bashing parks because they do not have any is silly to me. Anyway.... I do not think Dorney is competition for this park. I think Hershey and KD are the biggest competitors. In reality they are all very different - each giving a very different experience. I personally like KD the most out of all of the local parks. It has a lot of good rides and the water park is nice. I prefer it much more then BGW. They have a beautiful park but the only coasters I like there are Loch Ness and Alphengiest. Everything else is more mediocre to me.
  22. That is the thing. The people that live right near the park do not go. I have spoken with a few managers about this just last year. The people that come here are from DC - the lower income suburbs around it.
  23. Congrats! It is good to be open minded about things. Change is good, its how we evolve. I had an ex who said he would never get married. I thought maybe once we date for awhile he would start to consider the idea. After almost 2 years of being together I had to break it off because I want to get married one day and he does not. Luckily, I found a great guy who wants to get married too one day.
  24. SF on paper looks like it could be a top park. SFA has 8+M population within 50 miles at 14M within100miles, They have 300 acres available for development, the only park with more is GAdv. There must be some studies, surveys, research they have done that major investments won't produce the ROI they want compared to other parks that have been getting a lot lately like OT, FT, GAm that all have got Justice Leagues, 4D's, RMC''s in the time SFA has gotten a couple of flats and relocated coaster almost 5 years ago. I totally agree. I've had some conversations with some of the management at the park over the years. What I get told a lot is Six Flags Inc. holds onto this park because the land under it is worth so much being right outside DC. They know their draw is the water park in the summer and Fright Fest for the fall. They do just enough to keep people coming back and know they do not need to put anything extravagant in. Most people that come to the park do not travel to other Six Flags. The people that go to this park still get so pumped for Superman and Roar when both coasters are considerably older. They have no idea there is Nitro right in Jersey or Sky Rush right in Hershey. Most of the people that come to this park come from the lower income parts of DC and southern MD. To the people that go here Wonder Woman is this awesome new ride. They do not know the tallest one in the world is right in Six Flags New England or even that many Six Flags have these. Also, the management knows the perception the enthusiast have of this park overall. Yes, there are locals like myself who love this park because we can enjoy it for what it is. However, they know the enthusiast rarely come here because of the rumored violence and terrible operations. Why come to a park that has sub par operations with coasters that are old? They know the enthusiast are going to travel to Great Adventure and New England. Do I agree with this through process? No, I do not. I think a Joker style coaster would be awesome for this park. Would I like to see a RMC redo to Roar? Of course! Would I like to finally see another custom coaster? Of course. I wish they would have resurrected Ultra Twister that laid in piles in the back of the park. I think anything that has lower capacity would be good for this park because it rarely gets super crowded.
