  1. That would be awesome. With the success of Disney's magic bands, I would not be surprised if they were not working on their version. Same with Cedar Fair.
  2. Sorry I started this. I honestly had no idea. I was not meaning to bitch if it came off that way. I do not mind the policy. I just a locker and then go to multiple rides. SFNE had a set up where you could use them all day and move from place to place throughout the park for once price. I like that too.
  3. Superman: Ride of Steel @ Six Flags America
  4. So wait a minute... I have not been to the park this year yet. You can not even take your phone up the platform anymore even if its in your pocket? Are they literally reaching to every person's pocket to check for loose items?
  5. Went to the park Saturday for the opening of Fright Fest. Only stayed until about 7 PM. Once the sun started going down it got crowded fast. Plus people were being real extra - running (knocking into people) and screaming making a scene just because the haunts were walking by them. I can not stand that. We skipped all shows and haunted houses. They just are not that good. The park looked good, I just feel like it was decorated more. Great Adventure always looks amazing. Wish we could look like that. Wonder Woman had a huge line all day so we skipped it. It looks amazing back there though - it really filled that hole well. Batwing was down all day - it did do some testing though. This was only my second visit this season and I was very surprised to see Superman running two trains all day. Even when there was less then a train wait most of the day. Usually, this had a much longer line. Joker was running great. Still not as good as Poltergeist - I like that layout more. We chose Roar as our first ride. It was running a little smoother. However, it broke down while we were in the break run and the employees failed to come tell us. After about 15 minutes they finally came and said it was down. This was of course after maintenance was already working on the ride. Rode ME in the front. Dang, this thing has gotten really rough since last year. Also, why run only one train when it clearly had a line. There was an easy 15-20 minute wait most of the day and this was before the crowd came for the night activities. Skipped WO. The line was too long (entire station was full) and it was only using one train but had both on the track when I was over there. I LOVE RC. Is there a way for them to alter the cars to make them spin more or less? Last year our car barely spun and this year every car was whipping around the entire time it was released to spin. Also, this had about a 20-25 minute wait all day. I still think they need two people working Rodeo or at least get someone who is going to hustle. The guy that was running the ride released the restraints in a weird formation. He released ours then went to a completely different arm to release more people and kept doing that until everyone was released. I've never seen them do that before. Also, I wish they would make the cycle a little more aggressive. I've been on some crazy dances who spin like crazy.
  6. It can be very crowded. Now that they are opening more and more rides for the holiday event I would expect there to be more and more people. Especially since the past few winters have been unseasonably more warmer.
  7. I LOVE the park at Halloween. The decorations are always so good here. I especially love the fog with the laser lights going through it. Can not wait to get up there 10/7. Skipping all haunted houses but can not wait for Kingda Ka at night!
  8. Yep. I remember that all very clearly. One of the most "interesting" moments of any of our trips because I got the call from the park we were supposed to go to literally MINUTES before we were leaving that the park would not be open that day due to weather. That whole new itinerary was put together in less than an hour and Garbles did a pretty good job of detailing it out here: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1210883#p1210883 What's interesting about that whole unexpected change of events is that we ended up doing MORE on that tour because of it. However, we still had people bitch and complain to me. I had some people tell me that they simply didn't want to go that day (which was fine) but then they were expecting me to GIVE THEM MONEY to compensate for the park loss. And even after I told them that we would still be hitting the park AND doing MORE, that wasn't good enough. I had other people tell me we should have just gone to the park anyway so we could have at least gotten pictures from OUTSIDE the park. What? Really? You would have rather us gone to a CLOSED PARK than go do something fairly interesting?!?!? And I'm sure there were other people that just complained because that is what they like to do. Again, more reasons why we have taken our tours private. I just simply do not have the patience to put up with people like this anymore. For what its worth I think you guys did an amazing job. I loved the museum and being able to get a pretty good length of time on the Canadian side of the falls. I can't wait to get myself in a position financially to be able to participate again.
  9. So, I am really late to this conversation. However, a recent email sparked a memory of it. I have personally been on two TPR trips - LeviaTHON 2011 and Northeast 2010. These were absolutely the best amusement park trips I have ever been on. I knew going into it how things were, I lurked around the site a few years before deciding to go on a trip. You have to be able to laugh at yourself on this site. After finally meeting Robb in person I was able to experience first hand how excited he gets about amusement parks/coasters. I knew that he did not put up with crap so I went into these trips telling myself just follow the rules and don't start anything. While on the trips did I notice the cliques of people, of course! I hate how people get so upset about that. I knew that there have been people that have been on many many many more trips then me and have created bonds with the Alvey's as well they have friends that travel with them while on trips. This did not bother me at all. Most everyone seemed to get along. I was able to find people who I got along with easily and we pretty much hung out the entire trips. I do not get all the drama that people talk about. As long as you follow the rules and don't do anything stupid you will have a great time. Also know that if you have opinion about something then do not get mad if someone else does not agree. From what I remember I was smart enough to keep my mouth shut, follow the rules, and make sure I was where I needed to be when I needed to be there. One of the trips I went on had some weather issues so Robb had to come up with a plan the last minute. There were people that complained. I thought he came up with an awesome plan and I think it worked out in everyone's favor because we got to go to Niagara Falls when it was not even part of the trip plus they were able to STILL sneak in the park we had to skip just so we all could get the credits. That was pretty awesome in my opinion.
  10. Definite: 1. Six Flags America - home park, I go a lot 2. Six Flags Great Adventure. One of my favorite parks on the east coast 3. Kings Dominion - finally am getting a Cedar Fair season pass again after not having one for about 5 years 4. Dorney - love this park In the works: A California trip just for the two Cedar Fair parks and 2 Six Flags parks. Maybes: 1. Knoebels - Haven't been in a couple seasons and the BF has never been so I think its time to show him what a gem hes been missing out on 2. Kings Island 3. Cedar Point 4. Carowinds - never been 5. The Great Escape
  11. The haunted houses are not worth it here at all. They are themed extremely well but that is where it ends. They are not scary at all. They send way too many people through at once. The only scare I had was a young boy scaring people in one of the queues. Getting in my face is not scary - jumping out from behind things is. They never did this at all. They just stood there shaking their home made rattles in EVERY haunted house. My BF and I wasted over $100 last year to get into all of the haunted with the fast pass for them and regretted it.
  12. I can't wait for FF either.... but only for night rides on the coasters. Coming up there Oct 7. They keep saying world's first. Doesn't 'cyborg' exist in parks in other parts of the world? Also Texas is getting one too which could open first.
  13. This! Rides over the water trip my irrational fears in the most delicious way...doubly so when it's one of the few rides that I'm a tiny bit apprehensive of to begin with. Even though, if the unthinkable happened, they might well be a bit safer than rides over concrete if it's not a huge fall. I like the idea of backwards SkyScreamers. My brain weirdly wants to convince me that this would be queasy-making, but luckily backwards rides don't bother me in real life. Glad I am not the only one!
  14. Planning a trip to Cali next year for both SF's and both CF parks. I know MM is open every day next year. Anyone know of about when this park opens daily/during the week? The calendar on their website won't let me go back through out the year. Thank you!
  15. I think WW backwards is going to be awesome!!! I love to hate Sky Screamers. They are simple yet scary rides. I feel so unsafe in them with them having almost no wall and the chains being so small. Now that I have rode the two world's tallest ours is a piece of cake. Scariest one I have ridden is definitely at Pleasure Pier in Galveston. I would love to see Wild One, Roar, Joker's Jinx, or Mind Eraser backwards.
  16. The only improvement I want is for them to actually be scary. I wasted over $100 last year on the their haunted houses and regretted it. They send way too many people through at once. And NO ONE popped out at us. They just stood there and shook their little home made rattles.
  17. There is more to do in the winter than ride coasters in 20 degree weather. April thru October is plenty. People need to diversify their hobbies. Well for some of us coasters/amusement parks are our greatest passion - we live and breath them. I think a lot of people here can agree with me on that. So, we are going to look for every opportunity to go to them. I am confused why you are a member of a amusement park/roller coaster enthusiast forum if you do not feel that same way? To say people need to diversify their hobbies is jumping to some pretty high conclusions. I for one have many passions/hobbies. Luckily, they all can fit together nicely. Also, I HATE winter and the cold so there is not much that I enjoy doing when its cold out. However, if an amusement park is going to open its gates for me in the winter and it happens to be a nice day (we have 60 degree days here during the winter) I am going, especially if its Hershey or a Six Flags since I carry a yearly season pass to them.
  18. Does anyone think if the season pass Flash Pass is a hit they will eventually add an option for us to be able to use it chain wide? I would buy that - especially this summer with going to California for both parks, the Great Escape and living between SFA and Great Adventure.
  19. I do not find Anaconda rough much. To me it feels more awkward. The only thing about it I do not like is when it slows down so much to go through the last part of the ride.
  20. That is sad about that guy! I can not wait for this new ride! If any of my enthusiast friends know me well enough they know I got excited when this was announced. I LOVE spin and puke rides. They are a huge reason I LOVE small parks like Knoebels and carnivals. It doesn't look like its going to beat my favorite flat (the Zipper) but it sure does look fun.
  21. I LOVE that more and more parks are opening their doors for the winter holiday season. I agree that Hershey opening yet another coaster is a way to stay relevant within the amusement park world. I think they know people come to ride these rides. People are going to ride them regardless if its 100 degrees or 20 degrees. I went to Great Adventure the first year they had their holiday event and I think it was a well done event with a great number of rides open. Also, the weather changes consistently especially in the MD, PA, DE, VA area. One day in the winter it can be 30 degrees and the next it can be 60 degrees. When I went Great Adventure's event it was in the mid 50's all day. Perfect temp to ride all of the rides in a hoodie. Will we see eventually where every ride is open? That is definitely a possibility but they need bodies to run them rides.
  22. I am just glad something is finally being done about the lazy river. Length has nothing to do with if a lazy river is fun or not. Some prefer the ones where you just float around and others enjoy the ones with water effects. With the hill the runs almost the entire length of the water park next to the parking lot I would love to see a Schlitterbahn type water chute ride added.
  23. I cracked and got the season pass... Just can not beat upgrade to gold, parking, lunch/dinner/snack,one free picture, one free skip the line, an extra $50 in discounts and the unlimited refillable cup for only $153.05. I literally laughed out loud when they customer service rep told me the awesome discount you get for being a 2017 season pass holder was a WHOLE dollar off! But only because the BF and I are going to head to California so he can finally get to both SF parks and both CF parks out there. I love that I am turning him into an enthusiast slowly but surely lol. Also, the plan is to get back up The Great Escape since its been a long time since I have been there and its nice to go to a SF's park and not have that SF feel while you are there. I also saw that Flash Pass was only $125 for the entire season. Not bad.... if you actually needed it in this park. Anyone else think if this takes off we'll eventually see a company wide Flash Pass option? As for the drink option... Can I say how I LOVE that Cedar Fair is now doing a unlimited drink option without needing to carry the annoying cup around.
  24. Chance ships are excellent. They put the other ones to shame. I almost never bother with pirate ships but I make an exception when I see a SeaDragon, Pharaoh's Fury or other Chance model (like the one in Wildwood). This one and Rehoboth Beach Delaware are my fave ships.
  25. Almost all lazy rivers I have ridden use steps. Schlitterbahn NB, Dorney, KD, etc.
