  1. Have you ever seen the second drop on Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood? That drop is 100% straight, yet it is still EPIC. (It's a Morgan as well) Here's a picture as well
  2. Sounds like you had fun! There'd be no point in having a family reunion in an amusement park for me either, because I'd be off on all the coasters too, especially at SFGAdv.
  3. Wow that really sucks. I was there June 21st, and I thankfully stayed for the show. The video and laser stuff was cool, but the fireworks really made the show. It's a shame.
  4. I'm visiting DL in about two weeks, and I haven't visited since 2009. I've heard about the Predator being improved, I know it got the Voyage trains, but was it re-tracked at all? I thought I heard that too. And also, is it still maintaining it's improvement into this season? It's a coaster with the potential to be fun, but it was hard seeing as the trains felt like they were on an overloaded washing machine last time I rode it.
  5. here's the final part... a roomy flume Some flumy lift porn Hooray for water breathing dragons!!! A fun, forceful Vekoma loop. Yes I said fun. I actually did NOT get headbanged. It was quite smooth and enjoyable, both directions. Boomerang sign SOMEONE doesn't know how to properly drive a jet ski... Didn't eat here, but I like barbeques Huge wooden lift One of the coolest coaster signs That's quite a large woody This was quite an interesting show. But the kids probably like it so that's cool Hooray for cliff dives into dark tunnels, and swaying structures!!! This was a beautiful park We ended the day with some fireworks and shows about Texas at the Lone Star Nights thing, which you should check out. It's a good way to just relax after a long day of coaster riding. Thanks for a phenomenal trip SFFT!!!
  6. ...here's some more photos We're here at one of my new favorite coasters!!! Ooh nice and twisty Some nice lift hill porn for yall Here's the twister-flipper-nutcrusher ride. Actually, it wasn't that nut-crushy and it was fun. A quite swell cobra roll Just incase you forgot where we were Obligatory ferris wheel shot FORCEFUL cobra roll on Poltergeist That's crazy looking A fun little spinner HELIXES!!! Some more for the lift addicts Who's that?!? It's Bugso Bunny! Along with my sister... ... and us!!! One of the nicely German-themed eateries, kind of hard to see here, but it was cool looking Jared is king of the flume castle! Oh, wait, I overthrew him Then my sister overthrew me I'm not sure why I photographed this ride
  7. So over the past week, I was lucky enough to visit my cousins and aunts and uncles and blah blah blah in San Antonio, whom I haven't seen in years. And luckily, they live 7 miles from, you guessed it, SFFT!!!!!! So naturally I planned a trip there. My cousin Jared, who works there, was quick to jump on the trip idea, since even though he works there, he doesn't ride much because he's always cooking food for people. My sister was ready as well, since I am training her to be a ride warrior like me . So on to the park: IT IS FREAKING AWESOME!!! This was one of the best parks I've been to, ever! I've heard some stories about Six Flags being rude, unclean, slow, un-themed, and overpriced. And whilst I agree that it's overpriced (what park isn't), everything else was the complete opposite!!! All of the employees were courteous, the paths were not in a disgusting state, there was only one wait over 20 minutes, and the theming was BRILLIANT!!! Now I've only been to two Six Flags Parks, (Six Flags Ohio, (Geauga Lake when 6F owned it), and SFFT when I was four), but so far, 6F gets and A+ in my book. I the most rides I got on any coaster was three, but that was because of the need to constantly keep hydrated in the 100+ degree Texas heat, and I stopped at the nice waterpark, where I got on my first giant funnel waterslide, which was freaking cool and fun. So on to the coasters, I've added 7 new ones to my list, and I 'm happy to say I'm over halfway to a hundred coasters in my life, at 53 as of now. I'll review them in the order I rode them: Goliath - 10/10 Another awesome invert. This was my first of the Batman clones, even though this one's a mirror, but it lived up to all the hype about the intensity. As usual, it was great fun in rows 2-7, but completely EPIC in the front row. Got two rides on this beauty. Superman: Krypton Coaster - 10/10 My favorite ride in the park. My first floorless, so my first of three rides was in the front, and the lack of a floor was cool feature, it made you feel more free and like you're kind of flying. I think all sit down B&M's should be floorless. This beats Goliath as my favorite because I enjoy S:KC in all rows equally. Rode this beast three times. Pandemonium - 7/10 A cool little spinning coaster, short line, made for a fun ride, the spinning wasn't out of control, and there were some cool drops and helixes, and a nice little airtime hill. Got one ride in. Poltergeist - 8/10 Wow! This was my first coaster by Premier, and it didn't disappoint. I loved the launch, and the lack of restraints. But DAMN this thing flies around that mess of track! The g's were crazy powerful, it goes WAY faster through that knot of track than it looks. It was a little bumpy, so good thing there were no OTSR's. Rode once. Rattler - 8/10 This was the only line over 20 minutes in the park, due to those short five-car trains, and long layout. I waited for an hour for the front seat, (having that feeling that I'd have spine issues if I rode in the rear) and some smart person pushed a button which stopped everything, and we had to wait 15 more minutes for the mechanic to re-set everything. But the ride was pretty fun, loved the first to huge drops, and the tunnel. That helix was jerky, so I was glad to not be in the back. One creepy thing I saw was, while waiting in line, when the train flies by the station, the WHOLE structure sways. Now I've seen wooden coasters shake quite a bit, but I've never seen the whole track move a few feet like that before. That was kind of sketchy. Rode once. Road Runner Express - 7/10 Just another fun ride to go on with small wait. Had some fun helixes and decent size drops, but was also accompanied by Arrow's usual jerky transitions. Rode one time. Boomerang - 8/10 Now this is where I'll get flamed. I LOVED this Boomerang!!! I had no headbanging whatsoever. At first I was a little iffy about it, but since there was barely a line, I couldn't resist. Now I didn't give it a 10 because I was in the front, and I feel it might of been different in the back, but this run I took on it was perfect! I kept my head back and had a blast. Rode once. ON TO THE PHOTOS!!! My cousin Jared, a loyal Six Flags food employee. First half of Goliath, beautiful. The forceful and twisty second half. Fun first drop. Jared and my sister will accompany me on my roller coaster journey today. This man has a good taste in headwear. Shake my hand, oh please shake my hand Loopy fun Boomerang from afar The Bugs Bunny log ride thingy. Too lazy to look up the name, but I remember it was really fun, and it had the second best theming so far, after Ripsaw Falls at IoA. You can see how they nicely themed the bridge. Is that Superman I see? Scream. I didn't expect much from this ride, after riding Power Tower at CP, but this one was freaking AWESOME!!! It ran a great program. S&S - if you read this, make all your towers like this one!!! One of the eateries my cousin works at. Credit whores rejoice!!! Flume lift Superman going up Superman watching over the attendants of SFFT Jared also serves All American Nachos.
  8. Ahh what can you say... **** happens. This happened to my mom at Darien Lake on RoS awhile back... she lost $40. But she voluntarily put her thingy in the box. And she didn't complain to the park...
  9. This isn't something the GP has said, but it is probably a big factor in why the GP can be so misinformed. Since I'm going to be heading to SFFT in later June, I decided to check out their website. Here's what I found whilst reading about Superman- Krypton Coaster: It takes nerves of steel to ride the MAN OF STEEL’s thrill ride—the largest steel coaster in the Southwest. (We made it faster by removing the floor. ) SOURCE---http://www.sixflags.com/fiestaTexas/rides/ThrillRides.aspx
  10. Anyone got any insight/pics from opening day? I don't get to go to KP until July, so I'm curious to how the first few days are going.
  11. I used to be a member of CoasterSims, but obviously that's been down forever. I'm currently a member of CoasterCrazy, but those people want me to pay them to download more than 4 coasters per day, and even though it's not too much money, it's still money that I don't think is worth spending on a premium membership. So, my question is; what OTHER websites are out there besides TPR, CC, and NL-Exchange where you can share your creations?
  12. Yesterday, on my way to Pittsburgh, me, my sister, my dad, and his gf all stopped at Cedar Point. We arrived at 9:45, and waited at one of the openings near Raptor that were chained off for early-entry riders until official opening. Once they announced they were opening, the only one that opened was further down. The security guard near us said he wouldn't open for another 10 minutes, which was kind of frustrating, seeing as we had a large crowd waiting to get through, and we were at the front. So we quickley walked to the other opening, and headed for Raptor. We got in line, and luckily, we waited about 15 minutes until we were on the catwalk leading up to the station. When we looked back, I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw nearly the whole line was filling up. We got on the front seat pretty quickley, minus the 10 minutes we had to wait because somebody either puked, peed, or done a #2 in the second row. Another clean-up incident happened on Corkscrew later on, when someboyd barfed their guts out in the front seat, in the blue train. But the staff all handled these situations quickley and efficiently. Pretty much all the staff were friendly and seemed to be having fun with their jobs, which was cool to see. One of the cooler things that I've never seen before so far, is the boxes that correspond with your train number/color at the stations, so your crap won't get stolen as easy. Whoever came up with that idea, I give you props. The only exception that I encountered was on Top Thrill Dragster, where I was forceed to cough up $2 for a small locker, because of a previous sun-glasses incedent. Someone must've been sue-happy. I'd also like to give a huge thanks to the Cedar Point security and EMS, who was of great assistance whilst I was in line for Mantis, when my sister passed out due to the heat. They arrived w/in a matter of minutes, and carted us to First Aid. Telly, our EMS worker, was VERY friendly and professional, and I thank him alot for his help. I'd also like to thank whoever that random girl was behind us who gave my sister pretty much a full Gatorade, and helped her until EMS arrived. My sister was given more to drink, and food to eat, and within 20 minutes, my sister was back up and riding again. So thanks alot Telly, and the rest of Cedar Point's employees. Now for the rides. I didn't get Mantis, for obvious reasons, and I missed Millenium this time due to lack of time, and my need to ride Maverick. Raptor - 9/10 - Rode in front seat. Very fun inversions, and great speed. Seemed much more fun and fast than the last time I rode it. It was really disorienting, and I was happy to walk down the exit ramp w/out my balance. Corkscrew - 7/10 - Still a fun ride, especially when you have no lines for it. I rode in the back, and it seemed really bumpy exiting the loop, and entering the first corkscrew. But it is still a good, fun looper to get on, and the lack of wait time makes it better. Top Thrill Dragster - 10/10 - Love it still. The launch seemed more force full this time; I was near the back. Some airtime and a great view from the top, and some blissfull freefall. Definitely remains in my favorites. Magnum XL 200 - 8/10 - Seemed a rougher than my previous ride, and the lap bar hurt my legs a bit. But the consistent airtime, tunnels, and the high g's at the bottom of the first drop surely make this a fun hyper. Gemini - 8/10 - We rode in the blue train and won, thanks to the red train's brakes being on near the last turnaround. Maverick - 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000/10 - Holy *************! I see why this was voted "Best New Ride of 2007"! I was in the front row, and while I've heard many great things about this one, I was still not prepared for what was to come. The beyond-vertical drop (my first one), was really cool and unique, and provided great airtime. The pullout was really forceful, and pinned me to my seat, which I love. The turns that whip you around were so much fun to me, and didn't hurt at all. In fact, neither my neck, nor my head, touched the restraints at any time. I think those turns add to the overall feeling of being out-of-control. The horseshoe roll was great, I enjoyed being flipped by those corksrews so quickley. The two airtime hills made me feel like my brain was threatening to launch from my head, and my mid-ride launch was the icing on the cake. The only way this coaster could be better, is if they let you go around a few more times after your first ride. I waited and hour and a half, and it was well worth it. I still would've thought that if I had to wait 5 hours to ride. Maverick is my new #1 rollercoaster. Good job Cedar Point and Intamin. For lunch, I ate at the Midway Market buffet, which includes food of many different country styles, and while obviously overpriced, it filled up and tasted great. I have nothing to say bad about Cedar Point, all the staff were friendly, the rides were (obviously) phenomenal, the food was good, and I will be visitng again, 100% chance.
  13. Well thanks! I guess I'll just work my way up again. Raptor's always a good first ride.
  14. I'm going to be headed to my 3rd ever trip to Cedar Point on this upcoming Monday, and somethings really bugging me. Both times at I've been to Cedar Point, I've done what everybody does; go to Raptor, then Blue Streak, Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, Mantis, blah blah blah, up the whole park. Last time I visited, I was itching to ride Maverick, but by the time I got to that area, I had about an hour to go, and the wait was 3 HOURS!!! I instead rode MF, which was great, but I had ridden before, and I wanted a Maverick credit. So I'm wondering, if I dash to the BACK of the park (I'll be at the park around opening time; 10 o'clock), will that affect my wait times? I know I've seen Raptor with like 20 minute lines near the end of the day, but I'm wondering, will I get overall better wait times throughout the whole day, for the majority of rides, or will it just be a first-ride thing-then-huge-lines-again type of situation? Any pointers would be appreciated, thanks.
  15. If you've ever seen the video "America's Greatest Roller Coaster Thrills in 3-D", you'd know that Eric Boardman is a WHOA-er Me? I'm a yeller. I always yell so much cause I just love every second of most rollercoasters; I lost my voice about 90% the day after a visit to Kennywood this summer. Mostly YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAH'S and HOLY CRAP's. And once, me and my friend screamed tourettes guy phrases on Phantom's Revenge. Other times, I'll do random things, such as singing JG Wentworth commercials, screaming "It's my money, and I need it now!", and HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!
  16. Sweet pix! I'm honestly VERY surprised they've got mostly everything up and running again after the flooding, especially considering this is Six Flags here, but either way thats a good thing. This is a must go to park for me someday.
  17. aww..... i loved mantis... just one less standup for me to ride...
  18. The best I've ever gotten was on Ride of Steel at Darien Lake. My lap was actually in a little pain from being held up against the restraint in the back seat, that's how intense the air was. Even in the front row your butt will NOT be in the seat on those airtime hills, no matter how hard you try.
  19. Nice TR, looks like a nice park, but I probably won't be going out of my way to get there anytime soon, but if I'm ever down there in the lower peninsula of Michigan I'll try to head there. Shivering Timbers looks like one to ride.
  20. I don't ride rollercoasters to get scared anymore, in fact I never did. I can't deny that I was DEATHLY afraid to ride KW's Jackrabbit when I was young but that was my first rollercoaster EVER!!! Now it's just about having fun for me. Now I'm not sure if 45 coasters ridden is alot, but I've had fun on ALL of them (except when one nearly breaks my back/ribs). Whether it's a huge freefall drop (Millenium Force, Cedar Point) or BEASTLY ejector air (RoS, Darien Lake), or just a nice, speedy ride through the woods with a little bit of airtime and fun drops (Jackrabbit, Seabreeze), I still love every coaster I've been on. I think being a rollercoaster enthusiast is more about having fun on every coaster I can get on, and enjoying every aspect of the ride, not trying to ride the biggest one and critisizing every single minor flaw you can possibly find about it. Heck, I even manage to enjoy an SLC, while most enthusiasts tremble in fear about them
  21. Steel: Sidewinder, Hersheypark Wood: Back seat on Zeus, Mt. Olympus
  22. I think they don't realize what Phantom's Revenge accomplished. People (as well as myself) LOVE this coaster. The ejector air is GREAT, and the general feeling of the ride is more extreme, unlike most of their others, which I haven't ridden but seem (at least from most people's perspectives), more tame. If they would take a good hard look at PR, and stop making the same "3 big straight drops, big helix, MCBR, big bunny hop" style hyper, they could probably start to contend with the leaders in the coaster building industry.
  23. No problem. I've ridden some good B&M's (Raptor, Dueling Dragons, Great Bear), and I still LOVED Darien's SLC. Keep up the good work!
