  1. Great pics Adam! Thanks for sharing! JJ
  2. The red dot is where they'll put the red button for Chuck to push!
  3. I'll take a shot at this. The uniqueness of the rides, and locale, and the Haunted Hospital. Apathy. Very much all of the above. It appears to NOT be in the Japanese culture to complain. While we were there, Fujiyama went down (it had an hour+ line) and people, in quite an orderly fashion, just walked away and moved on to something else. No big deal to them. They may even give exit passes, but the people apparently don't use them. Bad karma, or whatever. Yes. I believe both. You get in with either POP, or an entrance fee plus your pay-per-ride tickets. My understanding of this park is that it's a permanent carnival. Each ride is independently owned and operated. Everyone gets a take of the turnstile sales, and then the rides' owners are given percentages of the remaining value of the POP, by which rides were ridden. (The wristbands are barcoded and synced to a central computer) Individual tix go directly to the owner of that particular ride. It's quite typical of the park patrons to ride each ride only *once* and then move on. Their day is complete once they have ridden all the rides they want to. They're just not big on multiple rerides. (Which is so different at the Disney parks in Japan!!) We saw this at ALL of the "Happy Valley" parks in China, with their staggered openings, that way they could control the flow of traffic throughout the park. People ride *once* and move on. Seriously. Like I said before, it doesn't appear to be in the Japanese culture to complain, so they don't. I believe R&E tried for ERT, but you really have to work with multiple companies to accomplish this. It's a lot more hassle than it's worth. I'll happily be corrected, on anything above. But, that's everything according to my understanding. That's not to say that people haven't had great times when they were there! Somehow, you just have to get there on a day when no one else is there. It does happen. Just don't know how to do it. For the record, the only reasons I'd go back is for a second on Fujiyama, Dodonpa and to try the new Eurofighter. (My current estimation of wait times would be about 5 hrs, for those 3 rides!) Hopefully I'd get more pics of Mt. Fuji as well. JJ
  4. Without a doubt, Japan! Don't let the dreariness of Fuji-Q make your decision! More than likely, Fuji-Q will still be on the trip (though Elissa will probably remain at the hotel to check for earthquakes) so people can experience the.... "uniqueness" that is Fuji-Q. The rest of Japan is incredibly awesome!! You won't regret it!! JJ
  5. Wow. I mean that literally! I've only ridden a total of 7 times in the last 3 years because of the pile of crap it has become. First the original helix, then absolute lack of upkeep, then neutering the best part of the ride (and the 15 seconds that follows it). Looks like I'm completely done riding it. GR used to be world class. Now it's just JJ
  6. The only time I've been there, we had no view all day long. Finally, literally 5 minutes before we left, the clouds broke and we managed to get a couple of pics, running for the bus. At least we finally saw it! Pretty majestic! Trying to be artsy and get Dodonpa in the pic.
  7. Wow. That's new. So... we're both right. Those brakes can stop and hold (didn't know it had gone into an everyday practice), but AFAIK, they can't be (and we've been told by Jack Falfas, among others) used as trims to slow a train, though stopping it is far worse!! I've only been stopped on the block 3 times (in over 1800 rides on GR). This was all during 3 train ops way back in the beginning. JJ
  8. The brakes above the station are block (E-stop) brakes only. They've never been used as any kind of trims. JJ
  9. Ya know, I had heard stories about how efficient, and strict, the Japanese were about their safety policies, and, I have to admit that they really lived up to that, on EVERY ride I've been on in Japan. They are VERY safety conscious and very efficient at how they go about it. Of course, this seems to have become a "National" policy, after the incident at Expoland. I wouldn't be surprised if we never see that mouse run at LaQua again. JJ
  10. Fixed JJ (Btw - Fuji-Queueueueueueueueueueue really does suck.)
  11. Hey Martin!! I did that trip about 3 years ago. The TR is here. I would suggest parking in the last lot before Mexico. Walking across, getting a cab, and going straight there. (About 15-20 mins & $20usd) Mundo Divertido also has a taxi stand right next to the entrance, so getting one back is fairly easy. Same routine on the way back. Be sure to have a park map, or at least have the name written out on paper, so the cab driver knows where to go. On the way back, tell the cab driver "San Ysidro", as they didn't understand "border" when we went. Bring your passport. Makes it MUCH easier getting back into the US. Be careful, and have fun! JJ
  12. I'm really not sure. I doubt anyone does! But, it's still awesome!!
  13. With all of the eggs blown up, there would be no new creatures. All they had to do was kill off the existing ones. BUT, if you liked that, try Mega-Piranha!! The ending is 10x more confusing!!!
  14. Tiffany 's boobs were too big! Movie kicks A$$$$$$!!!!!
  15. Perhaps one of the greatest SyFy movies ever!!
  16. Special guest appearance by Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees!! Epic Movie!!!
  17. Poor asian chick got chomped!! Supergator made a special appearance!
  18. This movie is kicking A$$ already!! Dead dog. Dead man. Almost a b*tch fight!
  19. ^Joey - Stop presenting facts!!
