  1. I've ridden 1 coaster over over 1600 times (stopped counting at 1600, probably around 1720 by now), but only 3x in the last 3 years. So just on that one coaster (using the 1600#): Distance Climbed: 35.75 miles Distance Dropped: 32.72 miles Distance Traveled: 1373.63 miles The coaster? Ghostrider. But, since it's become such a POS, I really don't care if I ever ride it again. JJ
  2. Truthfully, *I* very much prefer the white on gray combo! It looks much more professional, sleeker, per se'. And, it's very easy to read, for me anyhow. I still like David's design on the top photo. Am I to understand that the image is scrolling thru the tabs below the picture? If so, I do like the separation that Jack uses in his tabs a little better. The black (or gray) outline (assuming that they can be buttons) looks nicer to me. The gradient on the buttons looks great too. I didn't like Jack having "login" at the bottom of the page, but everything else was great. I also noticed that David dosen't have a "Login" area - Could that be put in the same line as the "search" function? I think it should be a bit more prominent, AT, or near the top. Also, could the FB, Twitter, YouTube etc. buttons be put directly over the panel (pane) that they are seen in? (I don't know, I'm just asking). And, would that make sense? Could the "Login" be put in the "Search" bar? I love the way Jack separated the tabs, but *I* think that the black is a bit to sharp/harsh. I was wondering if you (David) could separate the tabs you have on the bottom of the picture, similar to the ones you have above the picture, in the gray/white combo?
  3. ^That's cool. I just wasn't sure (I mean I knew what the current look is) if there was a "correct" way to label it. It just never popped into my mind until I looked at yours. Chalk it up to senility! JJ
  4. I haven't responded yet, as nothing I saw really stood out and still retained the details that Robb had mentioned. But, David, that's really appealing!! Quick question: Shouldn't the "Forum" tab (pull-down, whatever) read "Forums" ? JJ
  5. I don't know who said it first but, there is no such thing as "fool-proof". As long as there are Americans and lawyers, there will always come along bigger, and more foolish fools... See Roger Rabbit, and BTM for examples.
  6. Not anymore. Though I was part of that contingency that waited at Fujiqueueueueue. Like Bill said, 20 min for Fujiyama, 2+ hrs for Dodonpa, and about 3-1/2 hours for the dreaded Ejeinaika. I also dread going back there again someday! Back in the day, at the opening for Colossus at SFMM, actually waited 6 hrs! Got in the park about 10am, the line was already to where S:EFK's tower now stands, supposed to open at Noon, didn't open till 2:00, got on about 4:00. And yes, that long line was only a two hour wait! (6 NAD trains, no stacking!) It was almost worth the wait back then. (Nowadays, a 2 train wait is too long!) Also waited about 90 minutes for Maverick the first time, about 3 weeks after it opened. Got there when the park opened (Gemini Gate), but the ride opened an hour late. Decided to try for a second ride, waited 45 minutes, was 2 trains away from loading -- and that was then washed out by rain, and I had a flight to catch out of Columbus at 4pm, so we left. IMO, there's nothing else worth riding in that park anyway!! The only hour wait that I've felt was worth it in the last 5 years or so, was for my first ride on Atlantis Adventure. A hour is about my limit for anything anymore. Aside from places with some sort of FP system, maybe Formula Russa (but, that would probably be on a TPR trip, and R&E would have contingency plans to assure, to the best of their ability, that that would not happen) would be worth that wait, but from the reports I've seen, and what Richard said, I don't think that's an issue. Though a warm night's, lights out ride on Eagle's Fortress MIGHT be worth the wait!! JJ
  7. . If it is enclosed, or themed (ala: Ocean Park in Hong Kong, King Kong @ USH) it could also be run similar to Orient Express (funicular @ SFMM) with bypass tracks in the center, which would be backstage hidden from public view. Also, possibly providing two different riding experiences, depending on which way you'd be traveling. Anywho - that's the speculation on my part. JJ
  8. I think you've completely missed the point. I have NO desire for the fantasy crap labeled as "Harry Potter". I've already made the mistake of seeing the first movie years ago, and was forced to sit through the last movie with the family on Thanksgiving. Both were poorly acted, intelligence lacking, and absolutely predictable. So for me, a theme park goer, I would like a ride that makes sense. Spiderman, (though I'm not a fan of the comic, or the movies), tells an excellent story, followed by a fantastic ride. Learning through the queue what the ride is about, made it that much more enjoyable. Random animatronics and visual tricks, without telling a story are useless. I don't want to read, and "learn how" to enjoy a ride. I want to enjoy the whole ride experience, beginning to end. Otherwise, I'll just go out and join "Theme Book Review" It's like going to ride an SLC, and having to sit through a training video on how to ride it. (and YES, this does exist - right Elissa?) JJ
  9. The last 15 or so pages has made my head hurt. I do like the speculation here about about HP expanding into USO. Dollar wise, make it while you can! Do I like HP? HELL FRICKIN' NO!! NEVER WILL! Actually spent thanksgiving with my parents, and they wanted to watch the last HP movie. I would have preferred food poisoning again and gone to the emergency room. At least there I know things would've gotten better. But I do find the 2 park tie in theory really cool. I do like the suggestion by Larry(?) that a monorail linked the two parks. It could be themed to the steam engine and use the technology like they did at Ocean Park for their funicular (enclosed windows, tunnel, whatever) to bypass all the backlot stuff, that would really be cool. Hell, if Disney can theme an elevator going down 1000's of feet below the surface of the earth, when it actually goes up about 20-25 ft, why can't Universal do some trickery?? I still like MY idea of Mega-Piranha replacing Jaws best though! JJ
  10. I say that they honor it by updating to .... MEGA-PIRANHA!! The first part (Amityville) could easily redone to Mexico (aka: Santa Monica).. The Beachfront could be redone to the TV reporter getting taken out... The approach to the indoor show building could be Piranha taking out Bruce.... The indoor section can be an action sequence done to "Kung-Fu Piranha".... The attack and gas explosions can be replaced by the "Napalm Piranha" exploding into buildings... Finished off with launched bomb exploding into a water explosion over the boat, finishing off the piranha. I'm sold!! DO IT!!
  11. Just drop a mega-lite on the lake where LJ went around. End of story.
  12. Totally against it. Just one more reason not to go there. JJ
  13. Only if you like ERT on pretty much every coaster in the park for 2 hours in the dark and rain.
  14. Well, after not even looking at this thread for over two months (87+ pages), I haven't missed much. My recap for the last 9 weeks: Some dumb bimbo leaves her dog in the car, SFMM saves it, then looses it (Hi Elissa!! Miss you!!) and now she has it back. BFD. Deja' Vu is on its way to the east coast. Rode 17x media day, maybe 5x since - good riddance. Bob suggested a mouse - that was funny! Mega-Lite? I still contend that you'll never see one in the states. Big-azz hyper? Maybe. I still think that it will be something new by B&M, a boomerang that works! Some kid gets offended by a scaractor at FF, and people go ballistic. He's probably heard worse insults in the halls of his school. (For the record, if you couldn't handle that - STAY AWAY from the "Chucky" maze at HHN in Orlando. You'll just end up in psychiatric care) Rumors are still rampant and stupid. I wish I had the same engineering degree that everyone else has, so I can join the discussion on the pros and cons of putting the Lex Luthor ride on the sides of Superman. Someone still wants the monorail to ride again. Not gonna happen. A few people noticed that there's a parking lot under a few coasters. Aren't you glad they don't let you park there? Some people think that "Speed: The Ride" would be a good fit for SFMM. I kind of agree, especially if they were to use the existing monorail station as the launch point (shooting out to either the front OR rear of the park). But, it won't happen either. Log Jammer has given its final rides. Whoop-te-do. Rode it when I was 9. Moved on. So should you. They will build something that will be much more appealing, and make you pretty much forget that LJ was even there. And yes, a terrain-hugging Aquatrax does make the most sense, barring the removal of the lake. NOT a dumb-azz dive machine. (saying that, it probably will be a DM) Yeah. I didn't miss much.
  15. 12/20. I felt like I really should have know more.
  16. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a third time, we're both idiots." --Ancient TPR proverb
  17. I loved that arcade!! We won so much candy there! BUT.... O.M.G!!!! I've nevr seen that train conductor game!!! WANT!!!
  18. Wow. I finally get a chance to catch up on this thread. 48 pages later.... My head hurts. My thoughts??? (like anyone cares): Cool looking ride. Looks like fun. Who cares about the long high brake run??? (anyone ridden Kingda Ka?) Keith made another amazing set of videos!!! But the truly best thing to come out of these 48 pages, was Wes coming up with Leviathon!! Wes wins!! (Again!)
  19. 13 minutes left. Who wins?
  20. The special efx budget topped out at $4.37.
