I just got home and got, not only the update, but the community's first gift - the Christmas Totem Pole. A GREAT prize, as it gives 2.5% bonus on $$ and XP. I think that most people are far enough along that we're all getting to the tasks where you can put most of your peeps on Gift Card tasks. With the tasks today, plus visiting neighbors this morning, I made almost 5000 GC. That could be a push by everyone across the board, causing the numbers to rise. (That's my guess) Anyway, that put me over the top, and now I have "Cossington's" on a 24hr build. Now to collect coins and get all the wheel prizes.

"GuyTKoepp has visited your Springfield" I go and look for my gifts. Find them, and I get.... A coin!! I go to spin the wheel... Thanks Guy!!
-
^ DEFINITELY THAT!!!! I was just calling it a Yeti, as that what the peeps on the boards are calling it.

Yeah, I've been watching that too. EA didn't think all of the Halloween global prizes would be achieved, and were planning on then selling the un-won prizes for donuts. Gotta feeling they'll succeed this time. On another note - once all your personal prizes have been claimed (30,000 gift cards), every 1000 gift cards after that will get a coin for the spin game. So you'll have a chance to get all the spin prizes. Evidently, the hardest one to get is the Yeti, but I remember visiting someone's town and seeing it already.

I didn't log in this morning till I saw this post. Booted it up, and yes, I did get an update. So perhaps that will alleviate some of these issues.
-
LOL!!
-
Yeah. Immediately went to spin and turned it into… $750. Oh joy joy.

^ I think they may actually be monitoring the forums. There are tons of them you know. You should see some of the whiners on the EA forums.

Just came across another interesting tidbit. In the upcoming tasks, there are one time tasks (about 8, 6 in a row at one point) that require 12+ Springfielder's to do, where each pays out gift cards. When you get there, scroll thru your list and send as many peeps as you can (like when we'd send 50 to do the same thing) to do that task and you'll pile up the gift cards during those tasks. Also, like Guy said, the 4th(?) personal gift you get is an "Elf Haus" and they do go around and collect (as well as drop gift cards) ALL unclaimed gift bags in your town. So you really won't have to hunt, like we did in Whacking Day.
-
That could be stifling. Only because this update DOES encourage gameplay by limiting how many presents that can be left in a friends town. I came across that last night. It was either Guy or (broken camera) Jon's town. After I had dropped 2 presents, it stopped me from dropping a 3rd and a dialogue box popped up and said I couldn't drop any more until that person had collected the presents that they had. So no ganging up and bombing a persons town like we did during whacking day. Pretty smart of EA.

Ok, found out that, YES, to get lights now you need to win them with the coin spin. Now for some cool stuff: There will be some additional quest lines on the 23rd and 24th. On Christmas and the 26th (ends on the 27th) payouts for Gift Bags, and Gift Cards will be doubled. You'll also get a free reindeer. Gil will also make an appearance where all donut purchases will include an additional 25% in donuts. (NOT a reduced price) So, if you get a real apple gift card, you'll get more donuts for the same price. There are also some static things in the files that may tie in to the end of the event, which is scheduled to end on Jan. 7. That's all I've got for now. Edit to add: looks like there's dialogue in the files pertaining to the Stonecutters, and the Monorail.

I'm not sure what to say. I'll do some looking around, and report here if I find anything. Sorry.
-
You should be able to do that to any of the colored houses, Frink's lab, Cletus' farm and a few others. In the dialogue box for the houses, in the upper right hand corner is a +/- sign. Tap that and it should expand to give you the option of sliding over to the Christmas decor.

I can't verify this right now, but I read that this glitch was fixed.

Not quite. The number of bags you have to give away is next to the amount of gift cards you have collected. If you go to someone's town, that HAS updated, then an icon appears in the upper right. That's how many gifts you can drop in that town (max 5 per 24hrs), IF you have them to give. Ex: say you have 3 bags, go to a friends town that has updated - the icon shows up with a 5 on it. You drop the 3 bags - now the icon has a 2 on it. So, if you get more bags (within 24hrs), you can go back to that town and drop 2 more. Hope that helps.

I finally got home and had the chance to update. Looks cool so far. My big question is: how do you get more gift bags to drop off at your friends. I only had 8, dropped them and I can't seem to find out how to get more without spending donuts. Got any ideas?

Possibly. But, like I said, I cleared my iPhone memory, rebooted the game, and got a 27 part (the counter as it's d/l) 200.9mb update. Something's going on. Just don't know what.

^ About 10 min ago, I d/l a 200.9mb update. But NOTHING seems to trigger it yet. I'll have to look into it when I get home late tonight. Edit to add: I wonder if there's a major component to this update that has to be d/from the App Store. Can someone please see if there's an update available?

The "reliable" sources (from TSTO Forum) say it will happen on Monday morning (8am PST). They're usually right on. This small update we're stuck in now has a tie-in with this Sunday's episode called "Yellow Subterfuge'. The following Sundays' episode is called "White Christmas Blues".

Enjoy the prize!!! I decided that the best action for me would be to wait until after work today to even open the app. So I just put all my peeps on 12hr tasks to avoid the temptation, even if the update comes.

I forgot to mention - EA changed the placement of the payment detail for the Kwik-E-Mart scratcher game. So be careful, or you'll be spending 99¢ instead of the in game money. Of course, you can always "make a baby cry"!!

Back in my ACE days (pre-TPR) I've done 3 parks in 3 states in one day twice. First was during my solo trip driving 9199 miles to do 28 parks in 24 states in 21 days, centered around SRM. (Google the newsgroup rec.roller-coaster for "9199" for the TR's) The second Saturday of that trip I hit Ghost Town in the Sky (North Carolina) at opening, drove to Dollywood (Tennessee) in the afternoon, got the credits, and finished the night at Lake Winnepesaukah (Georgia). Pretty tough to do on a Saturday!! The second time was for an ACE event that started at Whalom (Mass) then I headed up to Funtown (Maine) and finished at Canobie Lake (N.H.). As far as "whoring" for a single coaster, these come to mind: J's amusements for their Mad Mouse (Guerneville, CA) Pixieland for their Flying Dragon (Concord, CA) Storybookland for Bubbles The Coaster (Egg Harbor Township, NJ) Funderland for their Flying Dragon (Sacramento) Fun Town in Lodi, CA And of course - Draky from the TPR Spain trip in 2007. (Benidorm, Spain) It was my 700th coaster, and they sent us around something like 11 or 12 times. Robb videoed it, and there was a caption game from that as well. (Look up the TPR Spain TR's.)

Yeah, they are usually on Thursday. I have read both the 3rd and the 5th so who knows. Small update today. Evidently it's an episode tie-in for Sunday's show. It starts with an auto start dialogue (no-one needs to be free) between Lisa and Skinner. If it doesn't start, completely close the program and restart. THEN, you send Lisa and Skinner on a 4hr task. Once that is started, you get a new premium item - the USS Tom Clancy. It's 50 donuts and pays 2.25% (avg for 50 donuts), and it's pretty big. You can see it next to my Mayflower in Squidport. Also, after the 4hr tasks, Lisa gets a 24hr task and then you get a free item. I won't say what it is here, but it's interesting. Nothing special. I'll wait til I get it to make any kind of judgement. All of this is a tie-in to Sundays episode. Not sure if the Christmas update will still come tomorrow or not. The general consensus still says that it will, but you may have Lisa on a 24hr task when this happens. So the sooner you get this started - it "may" help in getting to the next update sooner.

For those that may have not checked in today, FREE DONUTS!! (Along with some pretty funny dialogue, and tasks!) Rumor says Gil shows up for "Black Friday" tomorrow as well.
