  1. I was a huge Pitt Fall fan when it was here at Kennywood, so I'd love to see it live on somewhere else, especially at a park that's not too terribly far away. It'll be interesting to see if there's any truth to these rumors. I always kinda liked Darien Lake's setting, I just wish the park had 1 more upper tier coaster to complement Ride of Steel (ideally a real wooden coaster, since Predator is garbage IMHO). I like when you're driving down the road leading to the park, and you pass farm after farm, and then BAM - a gorgeous steel coaster pops up out of nowhere!
  2. I'd say it was a pretty solid year thus far, considering I haven't been on any huge trips: Kennywood (x4) Cedar Point Dorney Park (twice.....once for Coasting For Kids, then again to cash in the VIP Tour I won!) Hersheypark Still up is VEGAS fun in about 10 days (with hopefully nabbing my missing Canyon Blaster credit) and then Phantom Fright Nights!
  3. Of the Racing coasters I've ridden, I definitely like Lightning Racer the best. That ride is just pure FUN!! ^ I would think so, and it looks like a pretty darn good one!
  4. Thunderbolt at Kennywood on Sunday evening when we swung by so I could renew my season pass. The park was PACKED too, which surprised me considering it was a Sunday with a Steelers game. We rode T-Bolt right around dusk, and it was running great.....seemed to be really hauling butt!
  5. I'm goin' to Disney World! Nice one, Paula!
  6. Interesting! It does seem to conveniently fit right in there..... Although, let's be honest, this IS Dorney we're talking about......Cedar Fair will install a Windseeker there around 2040, once the one at Cedar Point has reached the end of its useful life and they want to replace it. Then they can market it accordingly - NEW for 2040, it's the Windseeker! Hop aboard these new swings that take you to heights of nearly 300 feet! With this installation, Dorney Park maintains its world record for most relocated and recycled rides!!
  7. Thank You!! Couldn't have said it any better myself! One day these kids will grow up, have families of their own, and realize that "OMG Coasterzzz!!!" is not the only demographic a theme park caters to! I applaud KD on this addition.....it looks like it will be a beautiful kids' area when finished. And I think they are doing a great job of adding things to please a wide range of customers: 2010 - Major new coaster 2012 - Major new ride, plus family-friendly Dinos attraction 2013 - Major upgrade to children's area Sounds good to me. And some of the above posters can relax in that a new coaster will come to the park soon enough. Shoot my home park added a "new" (remodeled) coaster in 2001 and then not another one until 2010!
  8. ^^ Ahhh, maybe that's what they're doing.....bringing it back and adding it to Planet Snoopy! World's Tallest kids' coaster - HyperSnoopy XLC!
  9. I dunno, my gut still says this will be an upgrade to Planet Snoopy. Could they be combining the "Kidzville" area with the current Planet Snoopy to make one mega Planet Snoopy? (with maybe a new kids' ride or two?) Just a thought. I will still tune in to see what's announced tomorrow though.....who knows, maybe KD will totally surprise me!
  10. Well, thank heavens for Screamscape clearing all that up!! Here's a crazy thought - why not do that same fact checking before posting it in the first place! On a side note, I guess I can take down the "Save the Whip" Facebook page I started when this "breaking news" hit yesterday......
  11. ^ I think that's exactly how those types of opinions exist!
  12. Heading to Dorney Park this weekend to cash in the VIP Tour I received thanks to Coasting For Kids!! Also joining us will be fellow TPR-er Nicole for some great times! Thanks again to Dorney and GKTW for the incredible gesture......and a huge thanks again to TPR for all the support that helped me raise all that cash for those wonderful kids!!
  13. Yep. This settles it. I simply MUST get my butt to Texas!! Iron Rattler looks seriously awesome! This was easily the announcement that excited me the most from Six Flags yesterday. That first drop looks simply heavenly, and the hills and turns up on the quarry wall look fantastic as well! Not to mention, I've always wanted to check out SFFT anyway with that unique setting. The thought of doing an "Iron Horse tour" and hitting up this and New Texas Giant is like a coaster enthusiast's wet dream!!
  14. Phantom's Revenge last Sunday evening in the front row.....and it was hauling!!
  15. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing what they have planned for SFMM when they announce all the Six Flags plans on Thursday. I'm also very intrigued with Premier's possible/likely involvement in this. Sky Rocket is at my home park, and I'm a huge fan of it, so I'd be very interested to see a larger and longer version of something like that! Gotta get my butt out to these California parks one of these days......
  16. Those are some absolutely fantastic pics you have in there.....thanks for sharing them!! I love all the different views of Magnum that you have. Looking forward to seeing more of your trip(s)!
  17. My wife and I were curious if they'd have an Oktoberfest setup again this year, as right now there is NO sign of the beer garden. To us it looked like the area they were setting up for the beer garden is now the new BBQ food stand/area. Perhaps that area will eventually also be where the beer is sold, who knows. Sunday was a great day at the park! Weather was gorgeous, and crowds were moderate but not too bad. Phantom is running as awesome as ever this year.....I really love that coaster and its massive amounts of bucking airtime! Incidentally, I'm pretty sure I saw PennStater checking restraints like a champ on Phantom that day. We got rides on all the other coasters except Exterminator, and just enjoyed the park at a leisurely pace. That's one of the things I love about having the season pass there. I never feel rushed to do things since we know we'll be back again. They had some presents up again advertising for the park's Holiday Lights Christmas event, which we thought was very well done last season. I'm curious to see when it starts this year and if/how they expand it. For those that work there, I have to ask, what has been up with Black Widow? As it was, it opened late, and in the 3 visits I've made since it finally opened, it has been closed all day. Is there some specific problem they're having with it? I know newer rides have their issues, and eventually I will get to ride it. However, we both noticed some decent amounts of grumbling among general park-goers on Sunday with it down. Terms like "lemon", "dud", and "nice big lawn ornament" were getting thrown around. It's a shame it has been so problematic for them so far, especially since their one big explanation for removing Pitt Fall was that it was not the most reliable ride. On the plus side, the whole area around Black Widow looks fantastic, and I dig the new entrance even more in person! Ride Count for Sunday: Phantom x2 Sky Rocket x2 (Each time I ride this thing, the more I feel that it was an absolutely perfect addition....total fun!!) T-Bolt Jack Rabbit Racer Swing Shot Wave Swinger Ghostwood Estate Carousel Kennywood Railroad Gran Prix Looking forward to one more visit in September before my favorite time of Kennywood's season - Phantom Fright Nights!
  18. Gotta go with the ultimate (i)RON...... Ron Toomer! He could've designed a wooden coaster with inversions.....just give him a few coat hangers!
  19. ^ Glad you had a great time! And I totally agree with your reviews of the coasters.....as for Sky Rocket being "too smooth", I'll just say we locals certainly appreciate a looping coaster like that when compared to the original Steel Phantom that would box your ears like crazy! I dig that coaster more and more each time I ride it. As for Black Widow's new entrance posted above, I actually really like it! To me it's a small touch that really polishes off the ride. I'm heading there for the 3rd time this season on Sunday, and I hope to finally get a chance to ride it!
  20. The incredible, insane, and downright OMFG amazing Skyrush!! Remarkable! (Photo credit goes to rcdb.com - Skyrush)
  21. After last weekend's awesomeness at Hersheypark with TPR peeps Nicole and Chris (you guys were a ton of fun!!), my wife and I are hitting up Kennywood this Sunday. Hoping to get on Black Widow, as it has been a no-go so far for me (still being built on my first visit, and closed on my second).
  22. El Toro is still tops for me! Although, after this past weekend, Skyrush landed only a hair behind it.....and dispatched I-305 as my new favorite steel coaster!
  23. The awesomeness of that article cannot be put into mere words!
  24. Millennium Force for me, all the way. That said, fairly close behind would be both Magnum and Ravine Flyer II. Hmmm, perhaps I have a secret love of Lake Erie or something??
  25. Roll, no roll, overbank, underbank, I couldn't care less. All I know is, after seeing these sneak peeks of this drool-worthy new coaster.....errr, I mean, large Dippin' Dots stand with incredible coaster theming....., what comes to my mind is: Must. Start. Planning. 2013 Trip. To. Missouri & SDC. NOW!!! Seriously, this coaster looks incredible thus far, and vaults SDC right near the top of my list of parks I need to get to sooner rather than later!
