Planning my first trip to Holiday World in Indiana this summer. Any hotels nearby that you would recommend? Looking for something in the midscale range, not motel 6, but not luxury either. Also, does anyone know any restaurants nearby worth checking out? Thanks!

New addition to the waterpark sounds great. I really hope to make my first trip to HW in 2013.

First of all, Robb tends to be very frank with his opinions. Just the way he is. Not that I disagree with him on this or have any less respect for him. Don't take what he says so personal. Secondly, for some people, humor is the best way of digesting a horrific story. as the old saying goes, "the best comedy comes from tragedy". I respect that you see how serious this is and are empathetic towards all involved, but not everyone is going to feel or react this way, and its not necessarily that they don't care. This same issue was discussed about 5 years back when that poor teenage girl lost her legs on a ride at the former Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. I 100% agree. But I can see someone filing a frivilous lawsuit against the zoo, in the sue happy society we live in today.

First visit to Kennywood. Fell in love with both Sky Rocket and Phantom. And a few from Cedar Point: Fast Lane: Rode everything on a Saturday, and didn't have to rush like madmen to do it. Shocktoberfest/Travel Channel film shoot: Rode Maverick, front seat, in 40 degree weather with wind blowing off the lake, no jacket, just a t-shirt and shorts. Also got Millennium ERT that morning. I also met some cool peeps from ACE and GOCC. Hopefully I'll be able to meet some of you on a trip someday. One trip to CP included a "friend" from Connecticut who had never been on a roller coaster in his life. He lost his coaster virginity on the blue streak. And someone on a different train puked, so we sat there at the return station for 10 minutes waiting for them to clean it up before they left us off. Hopefully next year will include more first visits, I'm thinking maybe holiday world, Knoebels, hershey park? Also need to get back to Kings Island, haven't been in years.

I'll be attending the GOCC's shocktoberfest event on 10/21, which includes the travel channel shoot of Maverick. Looking forward to it.

Hmm that's a good idea. I've already hit all the CP credits, but I have not yet been to Kings Island. Perhaps I'll make the loop. For those that have been, can KI be accomplished in a day? And is the ride to CP about four hours? I was planning a Monday to Friday trip, but I can just as well push that from Monday to Saturday. To CP from KI? 4 to 4-1/2.

TTD at night. Great fun

Mission accomplished. Rode TTD twice today. Waited 30 mins the first time, and about 45 at night. Today was my most enjoyable ride on mean streak, possibly ever. Sat in the middle and it didn't seem all that rough. Saw the current remains of the disaster transport bldg but didn't see anything directly related to gatekeeper.

I feel so out of the loop. I knew in advance they were announcing it 8/13, but was so busy yesterday, didn't check until today. That first drop looks INSANE. I'm confident this will be a winner.

Well although I have never ridden KK, it doesn't have the overzealous short seatbelts like TTD, so I guess I would have to say I do like it. Not saying I don't like TTD.

The "category" is heights, but the winner is supposed to be the best overall coaster.
