This is great news for people like me who prepare and don't come with a bunch of excess crap. In regards to Maverick, I'm on the big and tall side and still love it. The trick is leaning into the twists and turns, so you don't get the crap beat out of your neck. -
Kennywood opening day 2013 Picture report.

I was there too! Although I didn't get nearly the great pictures as you got. Great TR. The Racer behind the scenes tour was a lot of fun. -

Perhaps it was busy compared to Kennywood's normal standards (I've only been there twice so I don't know). but it certainly wasn't so busy that it would have me complaining or regretting that I went. As I stated in my TR, lots of peeps complaining about wait times on black widow. Which I did not ride. -

POV looks awesome. It ain't no short ride either. That first drop looks fun, as does the entire ride. -

My TR is up. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=65322 Had a great time and the park wasn't all that crowded for opening day. -
Photo TR: Kennywood Opening Day.
IrishBuckeye replied to IrishBuckeye's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
when that first guy walked on, the rest of us stood there waiting over a minute, half-expecting a park rep to come over and tell him to get off. No one did. The rest of us who got our pictures took were on the track for probably a solid 5 minutes, and no one ever said anything. -

Gonna be at Kennywood tomorrow for a special event with the great ohio coaster club. I'll be sure to post some pics of anything interesting/noteworthy. -
I grew up going to amusement parks, so that is what I'm used to and I enjoy the experience. My experience with theme parks is limited, having been to the former sea world of ohio, and epcot. Had a wonderful time at those places as well. I'd say I prefer amusement parks overall, but a great theme park certainly has its place. Would Holiday World, for instance, be considered an amusement or theme park? the park seems to be setup like your typical amusement park, but all the areas are themed after holidays (and real well from what I've heard).

$85 for fast lane plus on a saturday is way too much, IMHO. What I would do is get a regular fastlane and just deal with the wait for TTD and GK. The time saved by not having to wait long for MF and Maverick and other rides would definitely make up for it, especially when considering I usually only ride TTD once per visit. -

I thought CP limited the # of fastlane wristbands sold per day. -

For those not on facebook (the only place I've found any info about this) this event is tentatively scheduled for Thursday May 9, times TBD. Not sure if I can make it due to work, but sounds like it will be fun. Philrad71: Has your BF ridden Maverick? Lots of peeps complain about the over the shoulder restraints and the way it sometimes presses against your chest on that ride. -

Absolutely. The track is looking wonderful and I commend the crew for getting it done so fast. As excited as I am for the ride, I can't wait to see how the new entrance area looks when its finished. -

I absolutely agree. I have seen the abyss of terrible comments on facebook/youtube, and thrillseeker4552's comments wasn't even approaching that level. Some people here seriously need to lighten up. -

Barring some sort of epic blunder by B&M/CP, I really don't see how. unless its someone thinking with the spoiled CP "500 footer!" mindset. There were certainly people like that when Maverick came out, saying it didn't look like an exciting ride. -

Are We A Dying Breed?
IrishBuckeye replied to nhman93's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well I would hope so, because facebook and twitter didn't exist ten years ago! It is my sincere hope that those as interested as us are not a dying breed, but don't feel I can comment much one way or the other. As for the poster who discussed future generations only wanting everything to be bigger taller faster and shunning the classics (can't find the quote ATM), I would absolutely hope not. My home park is Cedar Point, and I could absolutely marathon ride blue streak all day long if you told me to. I love the ricketyness and nostalgic feeling of an old ride like JackRabbit at Kennywood, for example. -
Great thread, even if a lot of the posts are dated. My two biggest spending vices are eating out and video games. But I am slowly getting better with both of these, and much better with putting $ into savings. I really need to get into the habit of packing a lunch, it saves so much money, and even fuel in the long run. For video games, I highly recommend gamefly, it's basically netflix but for games. But I do well in many of the other categories. don't smoke, drink very little (only socially now and then), RARELY go to a movie (I haven't been to one in maybe 3 years), I don't buy music or DVDs, (one word: torrents). I buy the vast majority of my clothes from target and stay the hell away from the big box stores. I'd rather be judged for cheap clothes and a bigger bank account than the reverse. I also buy store brands from the supermarket whenever possible. As many have said, its all about individual priorities. Would like to attend a TPR trip someday, but for now me and my fiancee are planning some smaller trips on our own.
