  1. It looks like a pretty cute little mini-hyper, almost Holland Goliath like, but sans Stengel Dive. This definitely puts Tobu Zoo on my list of parks to hit when I'm in Japan (although the looping mouse did build a strong case for itself)
  2. Wow, the beer thread is becoming a very popular place for our UK peoples. Welcome to the pub, friend. Tonight I was fortunate enough to get a Longshot Boysenberry Wheat from Sam Adams homebrewers contest. Thanks Adam! He warned me that it smelled really good, but didn't taste that way. I found it to be very much what it was advertised as, very boysenberryish both in smell and in taste. Tasted kinda like Knott's Berry Punch mixed with a hefeweizen. I kinda liked it, but I wouldn't drink a whole lot of them. Very fruity and not too shabby (the beer, not me) Boysenberry Wheat, homebrewed by some dude in Colorado
  3. Robb, I found your's actually kinda funny, except you can't draw a coaster enthusiast worth crap (they should NEVER be perceived as a "stick" person.) As for that other sites stuff, for those who listen to Opie and Anthony, those comics would totally get the "crickets" or the "car crash". I love it when people say you have to be nice to everyone, yet they're probably the same ones who just LOVE the first couple of weeks of American Idol when Simon is overly mean to people who can't sing. And then the people reply with "but my friends and family say I'm the best!" If you want mass appeal, you've got to cater to them. If you want to stay small, independent, and on the down low, don't change the way you do things, but then don't have a cow when the whole world doesn't agree with you.
  4. I always love press releases and how they sugar-coat everything. Celebrating an anniversary with someone else's used crap that people really must not have cared for on the other side of the state. All that is missing from this PR is some comment from Paul Rueben about how Kings Island will continue pushing the envelope for thrill rides and how it's his new #1 coaster. Oh well, at least they at least they didn't just call it Thunderhawk, even though they're still going with the whole bird theme. (which is funny how Cedar Fair LOVES birds, yet there are no trees for them to nest in).
  5. While prepping to watch the Super Bowl, I had a whole lineup of stuff to drink tonight. Then I actually started watching the Super Bowl and was just annoyed by pretty much everything going on, all the praises to Peyton, pretty boring commercials, the Bears falling apart, etc; so I decided to watch other things on tv, meaning I had no real need for lots of beer. Nice and malty with some nice hoppy finish. Still wish it would have been more Chocolate Stout The first and only beer of the evening, Saint Rogue's Red
  6. After Which Brew on Saturday, it was back to Tom's house to get ready for the party, which pretty much consisted of us sitting around, talking, and drinking while Leann and Tom worked their butts off. and the guys broke out some country music too, attracting Tom's neighbors Eddie Vetter even showed up to sing a few Warmed up, Heath and Kim sing "If I Had a Million Dollars" cause Heath always wanted a monkey. And not a rollermonkey, no one wants one of them But he felt better about drinking it in the bathroom Walt had some Mike's Hard Lemonade and such to enjoy and Heath gets a backrub from one of the greatest wives on the planet when everyone is drunk enough, the karaoke starts! mmm, desserts Walt decided to save a trip to Atlantic City and just came here to gamble With 2 great beers on tap, we had to keep changing it up. And we drank a LOT! We start recruiting for BACT at an early age Just hanging out letting our food digest ahhh, rest and relaxation with a HopDevil and for the ladies, there's WLD (UK's WKD) After 9 hours cooped up listening to talk about coasters, everyone needs a shot or 9 Eastcoaster ends and the party officially begins. Big crowd too Heath and Kim enjoy their first traveling tacos at the party and for the first time, a sushi platter to go along with the chili, jambalaya, various meats, traveling tacos, wings, etc Upstairs there was plenty of awesome food, like Buffalo cheese curds The ferrets were thristy too, but no beer for them this day It was still some great stuff though! I tried to make a HopChocolate, but the stout wasn't thick enough Heath and I enjoying the freshly tapped HopDevil The fridge is stocked with other beers once again. This year, a record breaking 83 varieties, 1 more than last year Now with HopDevil AND Rogue Chocolate Stout! First order of business was to add HopDevil to the draft list
  7. This weekend was the annual ACE Eastcoaster event in the Allentown area. Over the last couple of years though, most of us have stopped going there since mostly all the information told is already known thanks to the Internet that Al Gore invented. That doesn't stop us from going out to the Allentown area that weekend though, but now we just go for Tom's party. Friday's Preparty festivities: And hooray, the borgers showed up (and Janna proceeded to down 3 Czechvars in a matter of minutes) Such good stuff, even after 7 stouts and whatnot and I finally stopped drinking for the night with a Bell's Two Hearted another comparison shot for ya While we waited for the Pittsborgers, we chowed down on some Yacco dogs and Tom's award winning chili made with chocolate stout marinated beef Next up, some Merry Monks on tap to change things up again Makes me wonder why I didn't have more of these over the course of the weekend. Oh yeah, the lactose intollerance thing And they were good! Next brilliant idea, Tom makes chocolate stout floats So we decided to mix the banana and the chocolate stout, making a chocolate covered banana. Great stuff! Ellen was enjoying a Chapeau Banana lambic Oooh, it has a sort of tea-like sweetness. Blows Stella away After several Chocolate Stouts, I decided to try the Czechvar Lager Finally Ellen and Adam arrive and beer up for the evening check out Tom's sweet new flatscreen Ah, Rogue Chocolate Stout. Made with real chocolate syrup, and wonderful stuff It's snowing outside, so it's gonna take everyone else a while to get here. But Tom's got us covered in the meantime
  8. ^^Please, like the ride will actually ever be opened! Another 3 years they'll probably remove the whole thing and throw in one of them spinning family coasters.
  9. Yup, and just more hype by the media, the Achilles Heel of this country. Honestly, would anyone in the world care about this other than like the 5 people who saw the ads and thought they were bombs? If they lived in the middle of nowhere, they'd be seeing UFOs and being all abducted and probed and stuff.
  10. Yeah, I hear Harry dies so that no one else tries to take over the franchise and ruin the world that J.K.R built. (like no one will "bring him back" using magic or something)
  11. "Baba O'Reiley"- The Who. For some reason it makes me think of Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. Don't know the song, download it!
  12. But wait, there's more! It is the first Thirsty Thursday of FeBREWary, of course. Gotta keep the night going! (or maybe I started drinking too early) Does this look like the face of someone about to do something evil and uninhibited? Finally, since I don't have Red Kryptonite to release my inhibitions, I'll have to substitute some Redbach given by Adam Not too bad. Its no HopDevil, and the hop flavor is a bit on the weaker side, but it's still ok Next to bat, Wild Goose IPA
  13. Welcome to Febrewary! Tonight I decided to give the black and tans another shot. Hopefully the turtle will help out better with the Victory Black and Tan, StormDevil. Once again, the perfect black and tan So good I'll do it again an hour later to finish both bottles And it tastes wonderful. Great blend of coffee, hops, and alcohol Here you can see the separation better between the IPA and the Stout I'm quite proud of myself And there you have the Victory Black and Tan, StormDevil Woohoo, once the Storm King goes it, it separates properly this time! Add the turtle Let's try this again. 1/2 pint HopDevil
  14. This seems pretty blah to me. I'm sure it will be a big hit, but like many things in pop culture, it'll become "old and stupid" in a matter of years. Lost Continent is my favorite island just the way it is. Oh well, hopefully this change will bring about some other cool things, like a Booster Bike themed to riding broomsticks.
  15. The beeraholic in me is intrigued by this, but the lactose intollerant in me says "oh no chance!"
  16. I'm in the kick the car camp on this one. It just looks like a bug that's doomed for a squashing.
  17. ^That's pretty cool seeing some beers that we don't normally hear about over across the pond. The banana beer intrigues me, and I'm sure Tom would love to have a bottle of the Ferret sitting around in his basement! Tonight I wasn't going to drink, but then work happened, so I got home and deemed it necessary. Plus I wanted to try out my black and tan turtle from Terrapin Brewing. I was thinking about using some HopDevil and Storm King, but after hearing that stupid Matt forgot his camera again when he was inside the gates of one of the many beer heavens, I had some better brews in mind; a Bell's Black and Tan! Oh well, it's still really tasty and bitter, now with not only coffee, but also citrus And there we have a Bell's "black and tan" Two Hearted Java Stout? Apparently I need more practice, or the stout was too watery Step 3, pour the Bell's Java Stout over the turtle's shell Step 2, turtle sits on top of glass Step 1, half pint of Bell's Two Hearted IPA, one of the best While it's no Southport Turtle, it is still hanging around, and is darn cute!
  18. That's so tasteful of them over at ukrides. I think I'll stop going there for all my information on the UKs coasters. And to think, I had them as my homepage And they say ThemeParkReview has no class.
  19. Tonight it was back to the old HopDevil for me. and oh look, its snowing again. Still one fine IPA, different from other IPAs too As good as stouts and winter warmers are this time of year, I've always got a place for the HD
  20. Maybe Cedar Fair will move Steel Venom to Cedar Point and put it right in front of Wicked Twister and call it Little Twister. As for Laser leaving Dorney, that rumor is as old as some of our members. As far as legendary goes, since I still grey out in the 2 loops, I'd consider that a pretty legendary ride. Some people should probably keep their accuracy in threads about Psyclone and Flashback if they don't know what they're talking about.
  21. Any chance you guys stopped off at Southport and picked me up a turtle? Or at least go to the pub and find some HopDevil. That would make me happier than vertical loops, and we know how happy those make me!
  22. I don't really drink Hefes anymore, especially not more than 1 a day. I discovered this past summer that I have a high enough fiber intake.
  23. ^Wow, Erik, you can tell you're in that blurry picture!? You've got better eyesight than me.
  24. I'm waiting for the right moment to tell my girlfriend that I enjoy riding roller coasters. It'll probably come as a big shock to her, I just hope she understands that I enjoy them and even if she won't ride them with me, at least she's not ashamed of my hobby. After that I'll tell her about my love of beer.
  25. Looks like a really cool event that I intend to hit next year maybe. But ug, why is it so difficult for people who actually WENT to college at UF to get Championship shirts when any old schmuck in Florida can seemingly go out and get one!?
