Photo TR: Disney's Pirate and Princess Party
DerekRx replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Awww, I was really bummed I'm missing out on the event, as any special event at the Magic Kingdom is awesome. And then I saw my Dole Whips were closed now I'm not so sad anymore. Thanks for the heads up, it'll be something for me to keep in mind for future year trips to WDW! -
As promised, here's todays beergoings. The day started off at Union Jacks, followed by a Golden Avalanche, and ending up at my place while watching the latest TPR video. Tonight's enjoyment. Maybe by the next time Greg visits I'll have my own bar downstairs... and Stone IPA for me. side note: I miss Nicole and TPR UK peeps These quality videos are long, more beer is needed. Siberian Night Stout for Heath and Leffe Blonde for Greg Even Kim broke out the Pyramid Apricot Weizen and myself the Bell's Two Hearted to watch the UK video So BACT to my house for some brews and TPR videos. Heath went with the HopDevil and Greg with the Nugget Nectar Next up, some Canal Street, home of Legacy. Of course, they were closed for some lame volunteer event, on a Saturday! WTF?! And Kim sexes up some Cookies and Cream Heath and Greg enjoy the Winter Bock Their Apricot Amber was very comparable to Pyramid's Apricot Wiezen. Really awesome stuff Next up, Kutztown Tavern, home of Golden Avalanche Oh so Bellicious! and what kind of love do I send to mcjaco? Why Wheat Love by Bell's, of course! With a side of Kim Greg is intrigued by Lagunitas' Brown Shugga Next in line, Heath whips out a Lost Coast Raspberry Brown Ale, my 700th beer. Gives Naked Fish a run for its money Greg polishes off the Sly Fox rather quickly and goes for the house brew, Legacy's Hoptimus Prime double IPA and I enjoy the Victory Storm King on tap. yum! Greg goes for the Sly Fox Raspberry Reserve Heath goes right for the 21oz of Spaten Optimator Greg hasn't been here since Victory's 10th, so Union Jacks was a good selection to start the day off

^Woohoo! OK, you're a keeper Tonight, just a bunch of random pulling from the fridge. Ahhhh! And so, another weekend begins... OK, time to wash the bleck out of my mouth. Hooray apple beer! Bleck! Really sweet taste from the malt and alcohol sitting for a while Wow, the 10th Anniversary Alt. I had no idea I even had one of these yet Hooray for Friday! Woohoo, up first, more Hoppy D

I'm wonder what task Belson has on the ship. I certainly hope our country isn't relying on you for GPS estimations on missile launches, nor translations; as you sure do prove you're no expert on that sort of thing! "When I found the Terrorists, I was credit whoring a kiddie coaster like 2 hours East of Baghdad. Fire the missile in that general area." "Oops, I thought that was the Japanese symbol for 'Terrorist Headquarters' not 'Squidball distribution center'"

Tonight was a night for some favorites, as well as an unexpected guest... and when I think about snow, I think about the woman I don't see in the winter because she lives in the nexus of it Light, fluffy, and cold! Soon thereafter, it starts to slow down After another 30 minutes, it's coming down pretty good Not too much yet, but it's starting to lay Yay for drunk playing in the snow with my beer blanket on! After a good 30 minutes, this is what we had As for that unexpected guest...It was snow! No, not that Canadian Reggae rapper dude, the winter precipitation. Truly the nugget nectar of the gods Next up, the golden Nugget Nectar I am so oaked for this beer! First in line, the Oaked Arrogant Bastard. Oh so good and vanilla-y When all is said and done, we've got an inch after this session

I've still got about a 6pack of HopDevil left, and the sell by date is coming up, so I better start drinking more of this wonderful nectar. Now that's a good brew! Hello Hoppy!

Mitch Hawker's Steel Coaster Poll Results Are In
DerekRx replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Agreed. I'll be anxious to see how Black Mamba holds up once its newness wears off. I think its more along the lines of a PCWi Top Gun in terms of ride than a Nemesis or Montu. Though once again, Phantasialand is a really awesome park, so maybe that has something to do with its ranking so highly. I know Holiday Park really treats us well (and IMO, EGF could be in the middle of a corn field by itself and still be #1) but when my friends visited, EGF was only running 1 train and had like 20-30 minute waits, on a weekend. Of course, I would rather wait 20 minutes for 1 train operation on that than the usual 1 hour wait for Superman at SFNE. The chanced of me getting line jumped are a lot less. Not to mention the trains are more comfortable in Germany. Of course, now I'm anxious for a TPR Australia trip so we can all ride the other good Superman! -

DerekRx replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm a bit heartbroken that Superman beat out GeForce, but then again I haven't ridden either one in a few years; Holiday Park wasn't viable on my trip to Germany, and I'd rather gnaw off my leg than return to SFNE until Shapiro and friends attempts to turn the place around. Hopefully that'll be soon, as I'd like to ride Superman again. Of course, there's always next year's Europe trip to raise GeForce's powers again. I really don't get Black Mamba. I thought it was a cool ride with good theming and a unique layout, but it's just a B grade B&M invert in my opinion. Definitely not the 2006 edition of Nemesis like people were claiming it was going to be. So while it looks good on paper, I wouldn't be blowing your allowance to fly over to Germany to solely ride this thing, kiddies. I think you'll be disappointed. As for why I believe Top Thrill beat out Kingda Ka, customer service comes into play. Well, that and the OTSR on Ka, and that roughness and shifting during the launch that TTD doesn't have. In all, while I may not agree with some of the standings, it's nice to see some "oldies" still holding their own. And it is really tough to rank some of these coasters, so everyone's contribution is always appreciated. Mitch does a terrific job on this by himself, and I'm glad he continues to do it every year. -
Glad you finally got to Great Lakes, Wally. Tonight I was thinking about SoCal, so that's what I drank; the Stone 10th IPA. Pure citrus heaven. Now that's the shiznit! Nice thing about bombers, there's more than 1 serving. Great thing when you have a wonderful brew like this

Much like the levees in Louisiana, the Saints crumbled under pressure. So much for a team of destiny.

Jone's Sodas, awesome stuff! Green apple and cherry for Heath Fufu berry tastes like freeze pop juice

and on our way back to York, of course we drove right by Troegs. Since they were opened, we figured we'd stop in and get some free samples of Nugget Nectar fresh from the tap. Sweet and spectacular! and we finish the night off with the St. Bernardus ABT 12 60th Anniversary edition Dis stuff sure be good! That Nugget Nectar growler was taunting us, time to drink that next! This one's for you, Joey! Shalom! Next in line for consumption, the He'brew Jewbilation Definitely a unique beer. Smokey, peppery, and definitely chipotle. This would go really good with chips and salsa Then it's back home for more drinking. Up first, the Rogue Chipotle Ale When all is said and done, we've got plenty of Nugget to last us a bit More samples, this time Hopback and Pale Ale even Kim digs the Nugget. No hopface here and the Nugget is really tasty, even better fresh from the brewery Sadly, the Mad Elf is gone. But Nugget Nectar is on This is what happens if you arrive in between tours, the place is packed It's quite handy that Heath always has a growler in the car. It's time for a fillup!

Yesterday was another day well spent hopping around drinking stuff. Of course, I just had to go with my fellow BACT local PA chapter. First stop was up towards Knoebels to Selinsgrove. after some merch pickups, it was time to call it a day at Selin's Grove for another couple of weeks. and my final brew at Selin's Grove was the Solstice X Dubbel, their 10th anniversary ale. Nice and Belgiany Heath's next brew was the Shade Mt Oatmeal Stout. Meanwhile Kim is just in awe of his drinking abilities Heath went with the meat pie, in another attempt at making Matt sad Ham and Swiss on a pretzel roll with some spicy mustard. Yum! Next up, I decided to get the St. Fillin's Barleywine on cask since they were running out for the year And the Razz Merry for myself AND Kim. You know its good stuff if Kim drinks it, being the DD and all and since we got there at opening, we could sit at the bar. Dunkelweisen for Heath, in a Hefe glass for the same price as a pint! There's always something good on tap That's right, Selin's Grove Brewing, one of the coolest places to drink ever Selinsgrove, this can only mean one thing...

I decided to finish of my Friday a little lighter, only going for one more brew. But I made sure I made it a good choice, the Thirsty Dog Siberian Night, another imperial stout. And it was really tasty (or TASTEY if you're Fergie) Until tomorow! (which I have NO idea where I'll end up) Dark, chocolate, coffee, and hops, yum!

Today I had a pretty cool task at work; get away from the job for a day to see how another practice operates, and the tools they use. Of course, its also the most feared and dreaded task, as the other practice...is in New Jersey! Luckily we learned a lot early on, so by lunch time we were on our way back home. Of course, hunger set in and we needed some food. Back to Maggiano's for us for some good Italian, and some beer for me. Followed by the Anchor Pale Ale. Hoppy and good First up, the Anchor Porter. Nice and creamy and some hints of chocolate

Photo TR: Sonic, Sky Princess @ Dutch Wonderland, and J2!
DerekRx replied to Rider117's topic in Random, Random, Random
Wow, I had no idea they painted Sky Princess such awful colors. Last I rode it (back in 1999) it was white with light blue railing I believe. And if you guys stopped at the Sonic off of 222, I drive by that all the time, yet haven't been there yet. Maybe this weekend... -
Dave, we'll let you know when we go to the Naked Fish release so you guys can try to meet up with us. I believe its the Wed and Thurs before Valentines Day, so we'll probably end up going on Wed again. Tonight I decided to tap right into one of the brews we picked up after DuClaw yesterday. We hit it at just the right time, because the 2007 batch of Troeg's Nugget Nectar was just released yesterday as well. Awesome stuff, I just wish this was around year round instead of only in January/Feb. Oh well, they brewed a bigger batch this year, so it should last a bit longer. The Hop Head in me loves it! This is some really good stuff, the Troeg's Nugget Nectar, an imperial amber/IPA

Tonight marked a special occasion, but that's a story for another day from another person. Just a few hints though. Its no Serum, or Venom, but it'll help keep me warm tonight! and when I get home, its time for more Maryland brewness, the Hop-ocalypse Me and the Derekslayer AKA Serum XXipa (among several others) DuClaw? on a week night??
-
Tonight I was thinking 'Winter Warmer' since its finally feeling like Winter outside. But then I realized I still had 6 bottles of Cappuccino Stout that I hadn't touched at all yet, so I quickly made a slight alteration to my plan. Quite a nice stout. As for tomorrow, its all about the Derekslayer, Serum XXIPA So good I'll finish the bottle off real fast, its almost as good as a Tim Horton's, only with alcohol instead of crack! Yup, just as the name implies, its very coffee flavored A special release from Lagunitas, the Cappuccino Stout
-
^Wow, I know you're not much of a drinker of beer (yet), but those are some pretty good choices for starting out. We'll have you drinking at Pizza Port and Stone sooner than later!
-
I think soon I'm gonna need to start working out too. Oh well, that's something to worry about tomorrow. Tonight I was thirsty, so I drank. First up, the new to me Lagunitas Pils. mmmm, such a wonderful IPA Bell's brews! And while settling down to watch 24, I figured I'd have a nice Two Hearted It was crisp and refreshing, but had a weird flavor kick, kinda like hemlock or sage Heath summed this one up a couple of days ago

Boo to Buffalo ice storms, snow storms, and predictions of snow preventing me from seeing a lot of hair on the weekends.
