  1. ^Thats great, thanks! I think I recall there is a model of DLs Space Mountain inside the Great Moments with Mr Lincoln building.
  2. I'd be very cautious about riding it. In fact, if I had neck problems and suffered from several concussions, I probably wouldn't want to attempt to ride anything that would jeopardize my health. If the warning signs outside the ride state: "Do not ride if you suffer from head or neck pain", there's probably a good reason for that, not just because they felt like saying it. It'd be a lot less lonely riding the coaster by yourself than it would be going thru the rest of your life without your mom.
  3. I don't care for inclined loops, and standard sitdown corkscrews are also pretty dull.
  4. "Loser"- Beck gettin' crazy with the cheese whiz!
  5. "the art of breaking"- thousand foot krutch
  6. Just because Jeff (the oldest living contributor to the TPR boards) had confidence in me, I decided to have one more variety of Victory for the evening! Prima Pils, Nickelback on mp3(not Hoobastank covering Nickelback), and TPR chat; welcome to heaven, folks!
  7. Well I haven't gotten to talk to the person in charge of booking my flights, but I'm hoping I'll be able to catch the redeye on Saturday night, meaning I'll have until 10pm to do stuff on Saturday. Tuesday thru Thurs I'll be availabe from 5pm on, and all day on Friday, though I may do a quick tour of the city and Alcatraz until like 4pm. I'm cool with Anchor Steam and Pyramid, as its former brewer is now my local! Here's one more you'll be enjoying in 28 or so days! Drinking a Hop Wallop, listening to Disturbed, and engaging in TPR chat, much better than watching pitch problematic American Idols!
  8. Well, if you're lucky, and if I can manage to get it on the plane! I already told my co-worker that her carry-on is my laptop and my carry-on is your beer! Haha, right now I'm drinking this, and you have to wait another month!
  9. Wow, I'm not an expert on the Matterhorn like Jeff Johnson or anything, but it looks like a pretty accurate layout to me! I'd also love to see both layouts for Space Mountain DLR and Space Mountain WDW
  10. Somehow I ended up inspired to drink nothing but Victory Brewing beers for the remainder of the evening. Maybe if you're a good host, I'll bring you some Storm King Imperial Stout too, Wally! This may just be my last Festbier. I was saving it for beer bread this weekend, but I just couldn't wait any longer
  11. It could be done, but I don't think many parks would be interested in doing this. The force from the launch plus the speed would put a lot of wear and tear on the wooden portion of the ride, even if the launch was steel. It wouldn't feel very wooden at all and therefore would be pretty pointless in having it made out of wood. For now I think they should stick with building launched coasters out of steel and leaving the classic feel to wood. Just look how popular the wooden coaster with a loop craze is
  12. Each park/park chain has different policies about reriding. Six Flags parks usually let you reride if the park is very empty and there is no one waiting. Sometimes they'll actually announce "you can ride again if no one is waiting for your row". Busch will let you reride if no one is waiting for your row, but some parks will only let you reride once (ala SeaWorld). Mostly all of the time, CF parks will NOT let you reride, no matter how empty it is, except for during ERTs and private events. Universal is touch and go, depending on the time of year. Rerides are not allowed on Dueling Dragons because the load and unload are at 2 separate areas and you cannot tell if someone is waiting for your row at the exit. Sometimes its all based on having enough weight on the train. At Hershey I was allowed to reride Storm Runner, but only because it was the end of the night and there was no one waiting for my row, but 3 cycles left waiting for the front seat. To make sure there were enough people that they wouldn't need to break out the water dummies, they allowed us to reride in hopes that we'd accept, which we gladly did! Same thing happened 1 morning at Cedar Point on Millennium Force. There were only people waiting for the front and they didn't want to risk a valleying (like that would ever happen on that ride! ). We got off at the exit and were escorted thru the handicap door to get on the next train waiting to depart. The reride policies usually are not printed anywhere, not on a park guide, entrance sign, etc, but it doesn't hurt to ask the operator if you think you should be able to ride again. Worst case, he'll say no.
  13. "Monkey Wrench"- Foo Fighters
  14. I don't know what's coming to CP in 2007, but if it isn't a microbrewery or a coaster, I don't care what it is! Besides that, its 2007, I've still got 2006 rides to be excited about riding.
  15. Thanks for the update as to why the first drop is not going to be done for quite a while, that gives me a little more confidence. You'd think they would have mentioned that somewhere in the construction journal since the only people who even look at that thing are us coastertools. I would like to think an early to mid-May opening will happen, though I'm also still thinking SF is being a little cautious with this ride, which is one of the reasons why they pushed back Coaster Celebration. (They may claim its because they didn't want people to have to decide between Cedar Point's event and theirs, but they just changed it to compete with ACE's Annual Convention). I'd like to hope its opened before Memorial Day weekend, but I think all that depends on the remainder of the winter as well as any testing snags, etc. Let's not forget, this is Six Flags, and it IS Great Adventure, who really doesn't have the best track record for rides that aren't built by B&M. Just don't be booking your flights to ride this thing until its a little closer to opening, if even then. Still, thanks for the photos, it shows that they are actually making progress, unlike what they show on the construction journal. At least this goes into some more detail and we can see just how far along they're moving. Hopefully this bad boy will cooperate and we'll have lots of TRs from those of us who have ridden it come May.
  16. Heath, I hate you so much right now. I was going to go to a Brewery this past weekend, but then family came in from out of town and decided they needed to stay with me, with their favorite beer being Budweiser, in a can! Therefore, a trip there was out of the question. Hopefully the weather will be good enough this weekend that I can go somewhere, as my esaver idea for the weekend is out with no fares to anywhere warm. Thanks for letting us know the 10th Ann is out, I'll have to look for it, or just drive to Victory and pick up a 6pack! The Victory giftshop looks sweet, with almost as much variety as the Shipyard one in Portland, Maine. When I finally get around to fixing up the bar, I may just have to go with a Victory theme. Starting off the evening with an Alpha King
  17. I still like how they're trying to pass this off as a roller coaster, then going on to say they now have more coasters than anyone else in Northern California, yet they had 2 more real coasters back 3 years ago! If we're counting this as a coaster, I'm now up to like 6,493 credits with all the pirate ships, disk-os, rock n tugs, etc that I've been on!
  18. Dude that's awesome! I think I saw something like that on MythBuster's once. Too bad you can't buy the Atomic Cannon, that bad boy can launch 7 miles away!
  19. "Don't Fear the Reaper"- HIM
  20. SFMW has more Anton coasters SBNO than even AstroWorld has! It would be nice if it reopened this year, as I'd like to have another ride on it. I've been on it at AstroWorld back when it was Texas Tornado, but only managed 1 ride because of the hot, humid weather resulting in a thunderstorm every 20 minutes. Plus it was back when it would only run 1 train on the circuit at a time, resulting in long lines. If they are going to sell it, hopefully the buyer can fix the "problems" with the trains and return the inversion to their old self. Send Thriller back to the German Fair circuit where it will run like it was meant to, all out with multiple trains. You won't even notice your spine getting crushed by the accordian restraints when you've kicked back a few steins! With all the known problems it has though, I doubt they'd be able to sell the coaster to any US park, so if it doesn't go back on the traveling circuit, you may have to go to Central or South America to ride this bad boy. If a Vekoma Whirlwind can find a happy home there, surely this thing can!
  21. I don't think I've ever ridden a 'coater'. I've worn coats, especially when it was cold out. I guess my biggest fear is getting the zipper stuck. (either on my skin or in itsself so I can't get the darn thing off when I'm some place warm)
  22. Had a new beer tonight, finally tried the Brooklyn Monster Ale. Its a barleywine, and though I hadn't many types of this (Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot comes to mind), I'd say its probably my favorite of the Brooklyns, followed by their lager. Its definitely strong on the alcohol finish! One of the better brews from Brooklyn, thats for certain! Smells like a Belgian and it really has a great strong alcohol present finish, but not as sweet as a Belgian Time to finally try the Monster Ale from Brooklyn. Had to start out the evening with a Hop Wallop
  23. I somehow ended up in the bookstore the other day to grab a map of London. I also ended up leaving with Tales of the Jersey Devil by Geoffrey Girard. I love supernatural stuff, folklore, and random weird local stuff.
  24. If there was some eSaver that would allow me to get there cheap, and I didn't have 2 trips planned for the 2 weekends following, I would totally be at the party. I wouldn't go to Solace, but there's just something worth flying 5 hours for to hang out with the Alveys. It could be Robb's kickass wings, the hijinx, the weird games, the stories, or all of the above. One of these times I will make it out there for one of your parties, I promise!
  25. Thanks for the update. Its good to see they're still progressing on this ride, though it does seem to be at a very slow pace! Sorry, but I'm going to play the (Hop)Devil's Advocate here for a second. Saying a "Spring" opening is really sad considering other parks building wood coasters have an exact date of opening already. Spring goes all the way up thru June 20, so that's being pretty vague. Also, I've been reading the construction journal from time to time, and I have to laugh at their "progress". For the past 2 months its been sunny, unseasonably warm, and pretty much precipitation free, especially snow-wise, yet they claim they lose 1 day a week due to inclement weather. Apparently the firm GAd is using to build El Toro is PennDOT because if it takes them much longer to get that first drop complete, I may have to offer my assistance, or at least give them a motivational speech and/or more caffeine in their coffee. Hopefully they're working in lots of areas at once and we won't really see much "visual progress" until all at once even though they've been doing stuff the entire time. I'm still leaning towards it not being opened until mid-June, and I say that with great sadness. Whatever happened to the days when the brand new ride would open on opening day?! (especially when they plan, start clearing, sign for, and announce it a year+ in advance!)
