  1. seems to me like Led Zeppelin could fit pretty nice at Carowinds if the area by the former log flume was expanded a bit....
  2. Erm..it's not..a Boomerang isn't an improvement from a B&M Invert. Carolina Cobra is just to a) put something in place of FSS, which Cedar Fair didn't want to put money into to fix, and b) Keep the GP on their feet until 2010. I live in Charlotte, and my GP friends are going CRAZY about this coaster. They think its a state of the art, scary roller coaster; they also know exactly what they're getting. Charlotte citizens have seen the layout because there was a whole article about the coaster in The Charlotte Observer. So, everyone know's what to expect with this coaster, and they are very excited about it (GP wise)
  3. ^ Haha..have you EVER driven down International Drive in Orlando?? It's FILLED with discount places. Also some hotels (non Disney/Universal) have discounts as well (most notably the Marriott World Center.)
  4. actually...funny enough...the Orlando area has more coupons for BGT than the Tampa area... I'd do a google search b/c Busch are always fans of coupons.
  5. Haven't posted in a while and thought i'd whip one up Holy Interlocking Loops Batman! It's Adam West on Loch Ness!
  6. A seasonal park with a New York market competing with a Washington DC market? SFA should be sold, its a bad park, with a bad reputation among the people in the area, and in a bad location. Washington could potentially be a market for a very good park but SFA is NOT that park and never will be. Not quite, Upper Marlboro is actually one of the nicer parts of the outer Baltimore area, driving to SFA you pass some luxury apartments and nice neighborhoods. SFA has a lot of potentiol and it's really a beautiful park with nice scenery, the only part of the park that isn't nice is Gotham City, which can be cleaned up easily. The bad track record isn't specifically just the park, it's Six Flags low maintenance requirements and the fact that the funding from Corporate to the park isn't that much. Look at Darien Lake, I went in 2002 under Six Flags and the place really was gross (although ROS was running better), then went last year and it was much cleaner, staff was nicer, and overall a better experiance. So yes, it shold be sold, but not for the reasons you stated.
  7. Batwing at SFA is rediculous. The line was barely inside the underground tunnel and even with 2 trains running the wait was around an hour. That place is unbelievable.
  8. See, in my eyes, the more grungie the batman themeing gets, the better it looks.
  9. EXACTLY! THAT'S MY THOUGHT FROM DAY ONE! There's no BETTER theme to build a resort around then the famous Hard Rock Name! A Hard Rock Hotel and a lower name hotel, PLUS a CityWalk area with Clubs, A Hard Rock Cafe and all kinds of performing acts plus other famous restaraunts such as a good steak house like Ruth's Chris or something along those lines. They need to make SURE that they make every demographic have the possibility of bringing their little hinies to that area. It's no longer the time to dwell on that shitty are they found the park to be put it. It's time to think about this park's future, and knocking down that stupid tourist attraction/show in front of the park, and trying to get those 2 churches to alter their locations. And finally, for season 2, add new rides! A Drop Tower and a new roller coaster, ALSO GET A BETTER MARKETING SCHEME. "Must've been to Hard Rock Park!" SUCKS! GET A NEW ONE! This park needs a resort, and a new world class coaster PLUS a flat AND a water park in the next 2 years or it will not survive. I know that's crazy, actually, flat out insane! But it must be done immediately. Sad as it is, these investors that own the park need to put out every penny they have or they'll lose it all very soon!
  10. Saying that it's sub-par is absolutely not true. They're a very small step below a Universal park (minus Knights in White Satin). It's just that the prices are rediculous, as said before. It just dosen't even out. I think you shouldn't make inferences about parks you've never been to.
  11. My first invert was actually Mind Eraser at Six Flags Darien Lake, SO you have a much better first time than I did. Then after that I rode inverts like Raptor, Alpie, and Afterburn. Honestly, I find inverts overrated if you're not in an outside, if you are, then you are in for the ride of your life! They're so intense and fun, you'll have a fantastic time.
  12. I can explain it in 4 words: Cedar Fair's False Logic Hey, who cares if the south coaster area is loaded? Carowinds dosent need a new coaster to help attendance. BUT Kings Island CLEARLY needs a new and unique B&M after they just got Firehawk. Rediculous.
  13. You need some advice on sarcasm...
  14. god, you guys are such babies. You seem to miss the point. BOOMERANGS ARE FUN FOR THE LOVE OF FUCKING GOD. THEY ARE FUN. Who cares how old or used they are, if you ride a boomerang, you'll have fun. Plus, Head Spin is one of the smoother boomerangs out there anyways. Get over it and just realise this is a nice addition...jesus...we knew this was coming anyways.
  15. I have one sentence of advice: SELL THE ****ING PLACE OFF SNYDER AND SHAPIRO! Look how Frontier City, Elitch Gardens, and Darien prospered since being sold to PARC! Fantastic! Clean! Yipee! SFA has too much potentiol to be treated like crap. But, Unless Two Face is being scrapped, it could get moved to another SF park and HOPEFULL SFA will be sold and treated well.
  16. Went to SFA 2 weeks ago and I have to say I was mildly suprised. Wild One was overrated IMHO, but the ejector was AMAZING at times, it's just not my kind of thrill. ROAR on the other hand was AMAZING. Two Face was broken and Superman broke as well, but Batwing was SO much more amazing than my hometown Nighthawk, it almost made me mad how silk smooth this ride is compared to Nighthawk, which feels like it's falling apart. Also, Skull Mtn. was open and an interesting ride, Mind Eraser was...well...Mind Eraser. The park was very clean in the entrance plaza, I was impressed, but everything else was mildly clean other than Gotham City which was in need of some SERIOUS TLC IMMEDIATELY.
  17. Let's see...in 2008 ive been to: Carowinds (4 times) Six Flags America (Once) Busch Gardens Tampa (Once) Islands of Adventure (Once) Virginia Beach Amusement Park (Once) Hard Rock Park (Once) Family Kingdom (Twice) aaaaand Wild Water and Wheels (Once)
  18. Well, my dad has been going up to Baltimore for business for about a year now, and to be honest, I never wanted to visit Six Flags. Untill now, I'm finally making the gut wrenching trip. My question is: Will it be worth it? My home park is Carowinds so Batwing isn't a priority, but will Superman, Wild One, ROAR, etc. etc. be open? Is it as bad as people say? Someone please gimme the real rundown of this park, because as most know it's nearly impossible to have a clear cut opinion about the place.
  19. most GPs will probably agree with you on Alpie now because of Griffon being right next door. I've ridden Wicked Twister and Steel Venom/VooDoo/Superman and both were a bit hyped. The launch was ok but after that it just got boring.
  20. Carowinds Park Management -If you REALLY want to hit Nighthawk up, GET THERE EARLY AND DO IT IN THE MORNING. The GP goes CRAZY for flyers, especially in Charlotte. -Don't worry a thing about Afterburn. Line moves fast and operations are usually pretty good. You wont wait more than 45 minutes on a crowded day, and it's worth it. -Ricochet's lines get ridiculous on a crowded day, so if you wanna ride, sucks for you, cause I would suggest not doing so. -There are a few games you should play if you wanna win a prize. PLAY THE QUARTER TOSS. PLAY THE AGE/WEIGHT. PLAY THE WATER SHOOT RACE THING. -Don't buy pictures at Carowinds unless you REALLY wanna cherish the moment. They're bad quality and they're overpriced since Dicky-poo took over. Ride Recommendations NO MATTER WHAT RIDE: Afterburn, Hurler, Drop Tower, Thunder Road, Phantom Flyers, and Southern Star IF SHORT LINES, RIDE: Nighthawk, Vortex, Carolina Cyclone, Rip Roarin Rapids, Flying Super Saturator, Fairly Odd Coaster, Scooby Doo's Mansion, WhiteWater Falls, GoldRusher DONT RIDE: Screamweaver (BOOORRRIIINGG), Yo-Yo (It's cute, but meh), Skytower (Obviously), Kaleidoscope, Dodgems Food Recommendations Hit up either Chick-Fil-A or the Country Kitchen for just plain good food. If you want something interesting, try Outer Hanks on the Boardwalk. Don't eat at Wings. The pizza is undercooked, the burgers are gross and buns are stale, just don't do it. How your day at Carowinds should go down If you arrive at Carowinds in the morning, go straight for Nighthawk. After that, travel up the concrete sidewalk to the RFD. DO NOT GO TO THE COUNTY FAIR, Save it. Ride Scooby Doo if the line is short, then walk down the RFD midway towards the Boardwalk. If you're thirsty, stop at that cool Icee fill station thing, good icees, good price. If it's hot, look at WhiteWater Falls' line, if short, do it. If not, keep walking past the games to the Carolina Boardwalk. Don't worry about Ricochet, it's not worth it. Ride the Cyclone if the line is short, then go to the Thrill Zone. Hurler's line may be long, but the operations are normally great. Ride it. Just do it. After, ride Drop Tower. Then travel back up towards the Theatre, and look at the Vortex area. Don't be fooled if the line looks short, it wraps ALL THE WAY AROUND THE STATION on a hot day with ZERO shade. Don't ride it if the line is long if you dont want heat stroke. Walk through the tunnel with plants over it. If you want to sit down, it's comfortable in there. If not, keep going through it. Look at Rip Roarin Rapids, if the line is long (IT ALWAYS IS RIDICULOUS) don't do it. Keep walking back to the entrance. STOP. You've just made a circle around Carowinds. Now do it again, except different. Walk back past Nighthawk into Nick Central. Now get the Fairly Odd Coaster Credit and ride the flyers. Then, walk through the tunnel to Afterburn. Ride Afterburn 1st, then walk to Southern Star, and finally Thunder Road. You've just conquered everything important at Carowinds. Now, if you want, ride everything else. Hope you've enjoyed.
  21. Wow...Darien Lake must be quite embarrassed Looks Really Nice! Almost Maverick quality themeing!
  22. Dug themselves a hole here.... Now who do they have to sell their park to when they ruin it within 10 yrs?
  23. sounds typical to me... Six Flags needed to put something in SFA to maybe improve attendance and revenue, so they throw in a water halfpipe with no theming and toss Hawk's name on it to catch an eye. This looks like pre-Shapiro Six Flags. But then again, who cares about SFA?
  24. My guess is a Haunt Maze....but hey if you wanna fit a GCI or something in that space, good luck...Does WOF already have a 'Club Blood'? Could be something like that.
  25. Carowinds is the home park FAVORITE COASTER: Afterburn FAVORITE FLAT: Drop Tower or Southern Star (Frenzoid)....Toughy...
