  1. Huh, color me impressed. My last ride was in August of 2012 and, while awesome, was like being in the Northridge quake. You are a giant pansy! I rode it 135 times in 10 hours for Give Kids the World back in those days, so I got me some street cred in this area. I also have a permanent injury from that day.
  2. To be fair to the operators, you do have to enforce some very basic safety rules. Considering there are signs that prohibit snapping (or "whipping"), a responsible op probably isn't going to let a full group of people do it. They might let it slide on a quiet day when only 1 or 2 people snap, but considering it was their biggest event of the year and you made enough noise for people working in the office to come out, you really can't blame them. Isn't it enough to be able to steer your flyer up so high it feels like you'll smash into a tree?! It was once explained to me that "whipping" is the action of violently swinging the sail back and forth with causes stress (and potential tears) to the sails. Snapping does not involve violent movement of the sail. Whipping the sails and snapping are two different actions. No, it is not enough to steer the flyer high.
  3. Good lord, people are giant pansies now. Strap those idiots onto the Coney Island Cyclone for a while and see if they still think Wildcat and Boulder Dash are "unacceptably" rough. The Cyclone is actually very quite smooth nowadays, completely retracked.
  4. Boulder Dash was still bumpy in place, especially on the return trip and the triple up. Not painful, but not smooth either.
  5. I hit up Haunted Graveyard with some friends late night. My first time in 2-3 or three years. It is still my favorite haunt event. Traffic delays limited my time in the park, but even getting only two rides on Boulder Dash and doing the Haunted Graveyard was worth it. The scare actors roaming the park did a great job and the food was excellent. Lobster Bisque in a sourdough bread bowl and a bacon pretzel.
  6. I finally got a chance to ride in the back of the train today and can't understand how anyone can say it is a wilder ride in the front.
  7. You are so lucky. I consider it smart planning to get to SFGAdv at opening (especially during Fright Fest) versus being lucky. I was in my car ready to leave the park at 2PM hen some friends contacted me from inside the park. I went back in just to hang out and watched to crowds grow and grow. When I left the park at 5PM the parking lot was practically full.
  8. The foundation for Fort Independence was deep into the ground to hold all the water. It is still being removed. I took this photo today. I should have taken another picture 5 seconds later to show the concrete that still need to be dug out.
  9. Got to park at opening today. Seven rides on El Toro in 40 minutes. , then walk on for Zumanjaro.. Took short thru Safari Adventures to Sky Ride. 10 minute wait for Nitro, stacking three trains. One ride on Skull Mountain and now enjoying Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese with a piece of cake. Lines are starting to pick up half the patrons appeared to be waiting for Kingda Ka to open to start the day.
  10. Certainly interesting and unique to the area. Then again, I'm the biggest Desperado fanboy.
  11. The passholder must bring the friend. And if you are suggesting using someone else's season pass, you can't do that either.
  12. I wouldn't say it was severely overrated since practically all seasoned enthusiasts who rode it said it was by far the best GCI coaster. Unfortunately I never rode it.
  13. 5 hours, maybe you need to have your head examined and get a doctor's note.
  14. I'm considering the speed differential of 30MPH as the big differentiator.
  15. I agree with this line of thinking but not so much to align the two parks but to provide a thrilling junior coaster that provides a different experience for junior riders.
  16. Well Taco Bell was the only restaurant to survive the franchise wars.
  17. I drove by on Saturday and their were plenty of cranes on site.
  18. I would like to see pictures of some of the other rides to add to TPR's Park Index Jungle Adventure course VooDoo Island (even if it is closed) Auto Scooter Dino Attack The GiantSlide
  19. The pretzel loop is the one standout and at the same time polarizing element on the S:UF clones. Some people love the element, some hate it. Practically everyone agrees the rest of the ride is not very exciting.
  20. ^^They weren't there last week ^ The original plan to was to run it forward after Labor Day
  21. I hit up the park at opening today. I got ten rides in on El Toro before finally having to get off the train. The crew was doing an awesome job. Six rides in the middle row of the last car and 4 rides in the middle row of the 5th car. Went to get lunch at Macho Nacho and noticed the TriTip sandwich is no longer on the menu (bummer), but that's OK because I said with my dining pass I was going to try different food places in the park. Settled on a Cheessteak in the Boardwalk area. Not great but didn't suck. Also picked up a chocolate chip cookie somewhere along the way for my snack. I made two laps around the park just for a little exercise and got a walk-on ride on Nitro before leaving the park around 1PM. The park was still pretty dead when I left the park, that nice chill in the morning and overcast skies helped keep the crowds light. This will probably be my last trip of the year to SFGAdv (although I might try Holiday in the Park) but I'm still trying to figure out if I can squeeze in a Sunday morning trip to SFNE in two weeks.
  22. Because they are limiting the areas of the park that will be open. Looking at the map boldikus posted, that area of the park will not be open. What's interesting is the Old Country path being open.
