  1. These are the keys to the event being a fiscal success I hope the park can pull in at least 2,500 - 3000 attendees per day. I think Ryan is probably right about the 15,000. Attendance yesterday was pretty strong. You're right. Just confirmed it was 15,000. Well then, that's a great start, and I'm glad they proved me wrong.

  3. I was pretty cool driving past the site today on the NJ Turnpike and seeing six giant cranes where the amusement park will be in the future.
  4. ^I would love for you to be right, and would be curious to know if there was a bump in season pass sales year over year. While we will never know for sure, I don't think a possibly bump would be a result of the Holiday Event. However, I do think expect many Season Pass holders to attend solely because it is something cheap to do. I do think that the park's lower pricing model on the Dining Pass greatly increased the number of people buying the Dining Pass for the upcoming year. I never bought the Dining Pass in the past but did buy it for the 2016 season and already got in 9 meals between September - October. I still stand by my statement that Season Pass holders don't spend as much money per capita at the park, especially when many have parking passes, free drink refills and possibly a dining pass. Also, season pass holders tend to spend less time at the park during each visit. meaning less total meals bought. Even though the weather is milder now than a typical November, drink sales will be less due to less dehydration. The one huge area where SFGAdv got lucky is that the mild weather will draw more people than they probably put in their original projections.
  5. Damn that's major news if true, especially the Log Flume and Hex. I enjoyed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for its uniqueness
  6. I love how parks spruced up for Christmas
  7. Possibly? Let me take a look at how much info we have in various threads about Everland and see if I can pull something together, give me a few days. I post Everland news quite regularly on the end of my TR's and it ends up being me talking to myself. I dread to think what will happen if you pull them together, it'll be the Garet talks to himself discussion thread. Too late I created the discussion thread, I know some of the news is still embedded in your TRs, but I didn't pull those posts from your TRs to maintain continuity for those that view your TRs.
  8. And the coverage is great because Robb is valuable to the attendees. Attendees realize TPR is a great platform to obtain free PR for their products and innovations. A regular attendee is not going to be able to have in depth conversations with industry leaders, because that conversation is not going to further their business.
  9. I'm still not expecting the event to be a money maker for the park, meaning I expect mostly season pass holders to attend. If that if the case I don't see it lasting more than one year. I'll probably stop by the park one weekend, just not sure which weekend.
  10. I would have loved to be a test rider, looks great.
  11. I moved all "game like" questions into an existing "Guess the coaster" thread in the Random Forum http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24976
  12. Agreed, they certainly have room for one of the newer models, especially the ones from ARM

  14. Being hit upside the head with a dead fish is better than the Golden Mickeys
  15. It is normal for many people to have a decreased tolerance for spinning rides and intense forces as they age. Also, medications and dehydration play a bigger role when you get older. I used to be able to go a park and ride coasters from opening until close and not worry about staying hydrated. Nowadays I need to drink water before I start riding and throughout the day to last. Otherwise the headaches come pretty quickly even on smooth coasters.
  16. Why does it have to be the 'blackfish' kool-aid and not the Sea World kool-aid that has allowed people to accept such a questionable practice as the norm for so many years? I seriously struggle to comprehend how this is even a debate in 2015, excluding how you feel about the particular manipulations of the film which has brought this whole issue to the fore. Funny that you struggle to comprehend how this is even a debate considering your comments answered the question. There are manipulations (of the facts) in the film, because it is a propaganda film.
  17. PLEASE calm down...there`s absolutely no justification for being that rude... George, please let the moderators do their job. The moderating team has no problem with Nickstroberg's comment since it was not directed to anyone in particular and appears to be a general statement about people commenting on the quality of rides as factual before the rides have been completed and ridden. If he had quoted someone else or mentioned someone in his post then we would have a problem.
  18. It's a counter balance, the coaster will collapse if the extensions are removed.
  19. If you have serious reservations and worries you probably also shouldn't ride a bike, motorcycle, get in a car, ride a train, take a boat or fly in a plane. You probably shouldn't even leave your house. Traveling to an amusement is much more dangerous than visiting one.
  20. We have to remember this is corporate speak to the investors, not enthusiasts. Potential is determined by considering the demographic of the markets (emphasizing population and age), local competition, weather, location and deriving a possible high end attendance figure for the park. The words can easily be turned around to mean that Valleyfair and CGA are currently not living up to their potential and CF needs to focus on these parks. It doesn't necessary mean through capital investments, the focus could be on tiered pricing for these parks. There are many ways to attract guests besides new flashy rides.
  21. I've updated the first page of this thread based on the latest info about 20th Century FOX World and Dubai Parks and Resorts
  22. http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70907&p=1629436#p1629436 In reviewing this list there are few things additions that I think are bad. I'd rather not beat the dead horse with the Larson Super Loop since the Six Flags parks that are getting them need intense flat rides. I think the worst announcement is what Europa Park is doing to Alpen Express. I just don't get it, and don't think I would like it.
