Announcing "Skyline Attractions"

Provided the ride is smooth, I agree this looks a whole lot better. -

I agree the ride park has plenty of expansion, but the water park seems bounded by Midway America. -

Maybe they need another groomsman? I'd love to get married on a roller coaster someday, but I don't see my girlfriend being on board with that. -
Announcing "Skyline Attractions"

Six Flags currently has 13 ride parks in North America. 8 have Super Loops. If Six Flags did in fact buy these rides, that leaves 5 parks without a Super Loop which seems to line up well with the number Skyline has sold. Assuming Six Flags wouldn't add a Skywarp to a park with a Super Loop, I'm guessing La Ronde, Great America, Magic Mountain, Mexico, and Over Texas will be receiving these next year if Six Flags bought them. -

I didn't realize they already threw something in Roller Soaker's old spot. Unless they had a water coaster run over that area, I agree Tidal Force is likely gone. Tidal Force is fun, but I hardly ride it because of how soaked it gets me. As for the Wild Mouse, could they possibly relocate that to another area of the park to free up space for another slide in the future? I still think Hershey kind of shot themselves in the foot with the placement of the water park. -

Skyrush is extremely intense, but it's still a smooth ride. If you don't want to jump right into the deep end, definitely try Skyrush towards the front in a non-wing seat. The back wing seats are easily the most intense seats on Skyrush and I can't think of a more intense coaster experience. It's still the only ride I can't keep my hands up for. -

I used to think Boulder Dash was overrated myself in the first few years because for some reason I couldn't get any air, which seems insane based on the rides I get on it now. But then a switch flipped and Boulder Dash finally started delivering the rides that I expected. -
Any park with an ARM tower is worth visiting. Those towers are better than ~75-80% of the coasters out there and this one will probably give one of the best views. You really do need to visit Wildwood someday. Morey's has an ARM tower already plus a ton of other great flats, some solid coasters, dark rides, a flume, and a great atmosphere.

Gillian's Wonderland Pier About a 10 minute walk down the boardwalk from Playland's Castaway Cove is another seaside park in Gillian's Wonderland Pier. With GaleForce and that lovely Miler getting all of the attention on these boards, I haven't heard much about Gillian's in a long time. I will also note that I have quite a few photos that I took from the Giant Wheel and I got permission from the operator before taking these photos. Another great entrance for a boardwalk park. Before visiting, I noticed that they had 2 new rides for 2017 that looked like they'd be the best attractions in the park, a Larson/ARM drop tower and a crazy flat called the Super Flipping Arm. Unfortunately neither ride was open yet. The Super Flipping Arm looked almost complete, but I didn't see any work at all for the drop tower. Hopefully they can get these two rides open sooner than their rival down the street gets their rides open. The plainly named Super Flipping Arm looks very close to opening. The new drop tower is nowhere to be found. With these two flats not open or MIA, the park's star attraction was the Canyon Falls Log Flume. I was expecting a compact flume with a drop or two like most boardwalk flumes. I was right about the ride being compact, but the flume exceeded all my expectations and was one of the better ones I've been on. Located underneath a deck, the ride has some surprisingly good theming to the west and Indians. The final drop is also really good and I enjoyed diving back underneath the deck. 9 out of 10 Most of the flume is built underneath the deck. It's no Disney, but I was not expecting this type of theming at a boardwalk park. Obligatory shot of the final (and only) plunge. Guess the kid in front doesn't like log flumes. Say hi to the Indian during the photo. Gillian's does have two roller coasters before I get distracted by how good the flume is. The larger of the two is the Runaway Train. This coaster was extremely similar to the one I rode at the Granby Zoo last year except the final turn didn't feel like a jackhammer. The first drop was pretty good and because of its compactness, it had pretty good whip in the back. The turns were nothing to write home about, but they were smooth. This is a really good family coaster and I'd take it over a Wild Mouse or a Galaxy clone. 6 out of 10 The larger of the two coasters is the Runaway Train...because that's the name on the ride. Roaring into the brakes at 1/4 of the speed of El Toro. The ride is really compact and I'd take this over a wild mouse any day (unless it's in a giant box). Now for the coaster everyone is waiting for, the Wacky Worm. Usually when I ride kiddie coasters, I'm not the only one in the train. Well in this case, I was the only one. Apparently a 24 year old man riding a Wacky Worm without a kid flags you as a coaster enthusiast since the operator asked which coaster club I belonged to. I proudly got my credit and it's a Wacky Worm. As far as kiddie coasters go, these are one of the more comfortable designs out there. 2 out of 10 Wacky Worm being all wacky. How could I have been so lucky to get an entire train to myself? I also checked out the park's dark ride, which is aptly called the Haunted Dark Ride. I was expecting a cheesy carnival haunted house with cheep effects and loud noises, but this one actually had really well kept effects and didn't look run down in the least bit. 7 out of 10 I was pretty impressed by this dark ride. It wasn't your typical budget carnival ride and was really well kept. The last ride I went on was the park's Giant Wheel. With its close proximity to the Atlantic and a few parks, I figured the wheel would give some good photo opportunities and it delivered. I probably had a 5 minute ride and had plenty of time to take in the views. I really think Ocean City is one of the nicest boardwalks I've visited and it'd be the best in New Jersey if it weren't for a boardwalk about 45 minutes south that may be covered in the next report I post. As far as wheels go, I can't think of a better wheel except for the two I've been on with swinging cars. 10 out of 10 This wheel can be thanked for about half the photos in this report. Spinny rides galore. This has to be one of the most compact flats I've seen but it was closed due to construction on the Super Flipping Arm. Calling this a house is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. I didn't venture to the beach but it did look nice. I see you GaleForce. I would have loved to get this with a train in view, but with the glacial dispatches it wasn't meant to be. A relatively small water park in between Gillian's and Playland. I didn't stick around too long since I wanted to get to Morey's, but I took a few photos of some other rides. I was particularly intrigued by the Thomas the Tank engine ripoff Monorail that ran around the entire park. If they weren't going for a Thomas the Tank engine look, you have me fooled. The obligatory carousel photo. Passed on the bumper cars. I had enough driving whoring the Jersey Shore. The park has a pretty good collection of family rides. It was lacking in the thrill category, but the two "New for 2017" rides should fill that void when they open. Of the two parks, I think I preferred Gillian's. I thought the park looked nicer and had a better overall collection of rides even though it did lack a major thrilling coaster. But if I did return to Ocean City, I think I'd spend a little time at each park.

Canada's Wonderland is one of my favorite Cedar Fair parks. The big 2 alone should be enough to pique any enthusiast's interest. -

When Lightning Rod has a TC, are they allowing you to stay in line or do they evacuate the queue? I may be able to sneak out to Dollywood again when I'm in Atlanta in a few weeks and really hope it's still running after missing it repeatedly. -

Great report of Lake Compounce! It's a shame you didn't get a good ride on Boulder Dash since I am one of those lunatics out of my mind that puts it ahead of El Toro. I've never gotten a painful ride on it. The front is definitely the best seat on the ride but I still love it even in wheel seats. Though waiting for the front can be annoying because of one train ops and how (as you mentioned) the front is often taken by people coming up the exit. I actually remember one Haunted Graveyard where it was taken from me for 4 straight rides. I admit Boulder Dash is aggressive, but I love the combination of air, laterals, and the setting. Every time I've ridden it this year has been in the green train. I'd like to think one train wouldn't make that big of a difference though. I'm always shocked how short Phobia's line is despite it being the newest coaster there. But the short ride cycle combined with pretty fast loading seems to keep lines down. The worst line is the flume. Earlier this year everything was a walk-on except the flume which was a 30 minute wait. I don't know why they aren't running as many logs as they have in the past. Your pics of the sky ride are fantastic and I still can't believe it's closed. I heard it wasn't entirely Great Escape, but the park was worried about idiots smoking on the ride, discarding their cigarettes, and then starting a blaze on the mountain. People are the reasons we can't have nice things. -

I think El Toro's restraints seat in a slightly more comfortable position. However, I still love SkyRush and prefer it to El Toro just because of how intense it is from start to finish. -
Worst Arrow coaster
Canobie Coaster replied to CP_fan_boy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I actually enjoyed Viper quite a bit. I found the inversions all smooth and really intense, but the turns were definitely a tad uncomfortable. Vortex and Anaconda are two other coasters I didn't find that bad. The worst Arrow I have been on is Michigan Adventure's Corkscrew. The trains on that one are much more cramped that the other Arrows I've been on and I had my knees against the seat in front of me the whole ride. -

I've never had a screeching op, but Mind Eraser and Batman tend to have ops that make this ba-whoop noise. -

Top/Favorite Hyper Coasters
Canobie Coaster replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I basically have tiers for my hypers. These 3 are all incredibly close, but I am going with Phantom since it has by far the best restraints and gives an equally as wild ride. 1) Phantom's Revenge 2) Skyrush 3) Superman the Ride The next 3 are the best of the B&M hypers I've been on. The air seems to be stronger than their usually floater. 4) Goliath (SFOG) 5) Goliath (La Ronde)* 6) Behemoth 7) Apollo's Chariot 8) X2 (not a traditional hyper but over 200 ft) 9) Ride of Steel 10) Nitro 11) Magnum XL-200 12) Raging Bull 13) Intimidator 14) Diamondback 15) Dive Machines 16) Steel Force 17) Goliath (SFMM) I know it's just below 200ft but it's close enough I'm ranking it. -

Thanks for sharing! A return trip is definitely in order once Wildcat reopens. I'm probably going to shoot for a Sunday since the park seems to be refusing to run 2 trains on Boulder Dash even on busy Saturdays.
