  1. Haha thanks. I haven't given up all hope. Just half of it. I know I'll have fun tomorrow and will be there with a friend who has never been, but I know the day would even better if the doors to the gas station open up for once.
  2. I'll go in hoping the TC is a genuine sign the ride was close to opening the past two days, but realistically I just don't envision myself riding it tomorrow at this point.
  3. If it's waiting for a ride inspector, you think they'd know which day they are coming and run one train until then.
  4. It did that since mid-June (exactly one month) until it decided to close down 5 of the past 7 days.
  5. I agree. If it's going to be closed, just be up front and honest about it. I hated missing it last month, but at least the park was open that it would be CD from the start so I can focus on other rides. If I see it's TC tomorrow, I'm going to feel obligated to wait by it even if I know the odds of it opening are looking bleak at this point. They should have gotten the second train ready when it was down last month, but the trip report from 2 days ago said they finally saw the second train on the track. It had been running daily for the past month with just one train. I would think running their star attraction at half capacity would be better than having it closed. Also it looks like they did the same TC to CD thing with Daredevil Falls today as well.
  6. Lightning Rod has reopened two-three times after I visit each time. Based on my luck it'll stay closed tomorrow and reopen on Monday.
  7. Yesterday they had it TC until about 3 when they switched it to CD. I've seen them reopen the ride as late as 9 pm if it goes down during the day. Usually Lightning Rod jumps right to CD with my luck so I don't know how late they're willing to open it on a given day.
  8. If a EuroFighter has lap bars like Hydrus, they are better rides in my opinion. I prefer Gerstlauer lap bars to the Zierer ones and the rest of the ride is fairly comparable.
  9. If you closed your eyes and wore ear plugs, you'd be able to experience the best part of the ride, the 100+ year old ride system. What doesn't say history like a fat lasagna eating cat? Canobie's dark ride has the WTF Egyptian part, but at least the effects are charming and haven't been gutted over time.
  10. I agree, it's a small sample size and there could be other variables, but it's the data I had at my fingertips. I'd like to think the fact that it was TC for half the day meant it was close to opening.
  11. Great photos! I can never get enough Knoebels photos. Over the Top looks great and I hope it opens soon. It really fits nicely in that area back there. One train ops are never fun but at the rate they send trains out it's like 2 trains anywhere else.
  12. In the front row, I only slightly prefer Dragster because of the lap bars and view over the top. In any other seat, Dragster is quite a bit better since Ka rattles.
  13. Did the operator ask why you were riding it? I've had that happen on the last 3 kiddie coasters I've been on. My last coaster was Yankee Cannonball. Set a new personal best for rides in a day on it.
  14. Thanks to my cable and internet going down yesterday due to a company with reliability on the level of Lightning Rod (I hate you Comcast), I had limited options available on my computer. Call me nerdy or whatever you'd like, but I plotted Lightning Rod's daily uptime since it opened back on June 16 using the data pulled on the app by the website mentioned a few pages back (thank god that site works well on mobile). I omitted any hours where the ride was closed due to weather though you'd think a Lightning Rod could work in storms. It was mentioned Lightning Rod didn't like high temperatures so I also plotted the highest recorded daily temperature as well. Lightning Rod's reliability has been trending downwards since it reopened while the temperature has gone up. There could be other variables in play such as the time since RMC left, but I figured I'd show what data I collected. This is probably one of the nerdiest things I've done related to amusement parks in quite some time and I openly admit that, but I figure some of you may be interested in seeing this as well.
  15. Maybe it was down yesterday to get that second train added then. Still something you think should have been done last month when it was down though.
  16. Amen to that! Only parks I'd rather be at are Disneyland or Cedar Point.
  17. Don't take it personally, Lightning Rod hates everyone.
  18. I still need to try their sky ride sometime. I always get distracted by the Skooters, Impulse, or food before I make it there. I also wonder if the accident as the Island will cause a delay since the report seems to indicate it wasn't rider misconduct.
  19. TC so there's hope it'll open today! I still can't believe we have to actually wonder if their marquee attraction will be open on a daily basis at this point. Especially after they took it down for a month to supposedly up the reliability in May/early June.
  20. Dollywood usually misses one or two rides on the app at opening. It just so happened it was Lightning Rod today. It should pop up in a few minutes to answer the million dollar question.
  21. Great report! I love running into people like Magnumcreep...provided they don't follow me around after I encounter them at the first ride. I tend to have issues losing them afterwards.
  22. In early June, they typically had it posted as CD about a half hour before the park opened.
  23. I'm hoping that's the case since it was pulling lines over 2 hours on a weekday at points. I can only see that being worse on a weekend.
  24. The Daniel Tiger character seemed popular with the kids, but for my generation and older, it's hard not to look at him without contempt because of how great Mister Rogers was.
