  1. This isn't a GP thing moreso as it isride ops not taking care of a critical breakdown. I rode Tatsu about two weeks ago. The person at main control keeps telling the operator at secondary to "stand clear'', meaning push the dispatch button. Now the way Tatsu works, is when all the seats on the train read "locked", the secondary panel's dispatch will light up green, indicating the train is ready to dispatch. When the operator presses the button, it will enable main control's dispatch buttons. Without secondary pressing the dispatch button, the main dispatcher can not dispatch the train. Now that we all know this, here's why it stuck out to me Dispatcher: Secondary, are you clear? Secondary:There's no dispatch light. D:Check the gates. S:I think it's broken D:We don't have an error S:Call it down anyway. Keep in mind this conversation took place over the PA system of the ride, as main dispatcher and secondary dispatcher are on opposite sides of the station.
  2. I think it's still nice that a quality park like KI is getting a quality coaster. With a pretty impressive line up already, I can think of about 3 or 4 rides the park could've used-and a hyper was definately on that list.
  3. Let's not forget that this is a discussion about Extreme Terror Rides, and the lasttwo pages have been about rider safety, hourly capacity, and ride downtime. It's starting to get a little off topic here.
  4. Awesome TR! Thanks for sharing your day and congrats to Colin on shooting ten prisoners and riding is first coaster. It looks like SDC has more to offer than I would have thought.
  5. ^I hate that Screamin' can be as short as a 15 min. wait yet Soarin's line is ALWAYS out of the door! You'd think a good coaster would put a park on the map, but I've seen it work otherwise quite a few times. The best example I've seen myself is Xcelerator at Knott's. No other ride in the park comes close to matching it's intensity, thrill, and experience. Anyone who's been can kind of get where I'm coming from. y
  6. You've got me by the balls there...touchet! It seems like McCain's platform is heavily status quo. Obama seems to be the candidate who pulling the most crazy ideas out of his ass. If your theory holds up, I look for Obama to win... ..."A Change We Ca Believe In? What kind of campagin slogan is that? i
  7. My great grandmother made it to 98. She passed in 04. By the time I'd been born she was partially blind and deaf, so she didn't really know me all to well anyway. I still felt bad. Old people are cool.
  8. One operating day in the off-season at SFMM, I was up at Riddler's. It was the hour between normal operations and a private party. We were told to clean the trains so I cleaned the pilot car (hence the green gloves and cleaning supplies pictured).
  9. I'm unemployed now, but my most recent job was Backroom at Target. Before that I worked at SFMM as a ride op, and Knott's as a ride op. before that.
  10. He's with big moma now. Im requium, I'll find some random kid and bust his head open 'til the white meat show. RIP Mr. Mac.
  11. I'd have to say that precision vaulting was the funniest, though the window for error is wide open. the Judo video was kinda more realistic whic made it funny. I could imagine a couple trying that. .....Damn U.S. and it's puritan censorship!
  12. X's initial drop is 88.5. I think it's about time someone applies a beyond verticla drop on a taller coaster-that way it'd be more noticable. If you were to go down a 250 ft. drop at 98 or 100 degrees, it'd stand out more than the 100 ft we're seeing now.
  13. No put I'm one hell of a drummer on rock band Do you like children?
  14. Here are a few shot of me... Me getting drunk with my friend Alberto 2005 prom...yea, I wore jeans... Me in some random chair @ SFFT back when I still worked at Target
  15. I'm voting for Obama, and so is my moma. He's got what we are looking for, someone we can honor He'll get us out this debt we're in, we'll all be rich so holla Who cares if he's elitest? Or has a racist Preacher? He's a hunk in speedo trunks, swear him in on the beach. I'm voting for Obama, so please don't bring the drama He'll kick McCain's ass in a bar fight, aiight? while wearing pajamas! he cuts back on fuel by riding llamas And never wastes his Chiquita Bananas And haven't you heard lately? He's kin of Dick Chenny That means he's pretty good with a riffle, ain't he? I'm voting for Obama, so is Richard, Kim and Tanya He's back by the blacks, whites, jews and Your father Universal health care, so It's free to see a doctor So maybe you won't die when your heart gets stopped up He's still young enough to play a teen in movies And when he get's stressed out he'll spark up a doobie. I'm voting for Obama, he'll legalize the gonja pass it to left, so he can join in the conga! On a more serious note, I'm registered Green, so no one with my crazy liberal views will ever make it past primaries. I'd love to see Obama deliver on a lot of his campaign promises. I'd like to see a timetable for the war but more importantly a budget that will get us back on track. According to CNN our national budget is negative 9 trillion bucks. Things were considered to be doing well in '99 when Clinton was in office with a surplus of 3 trillion. Though wages, general costs, and times were not as hard then as they are now, sometihng needs to be done none the less. I think Obama's the best man to do that.
  16. ^That sounds like 60 bucks well spent to me, but I've never been, so I could be wrong.
  17. I went to the park yesterday. Walking through Thomas Town, I had a thought, "will we see any future additions to this themed area?" I hope to see the park expand this area. 2-3 million bucks could buy a lot of stuff out of Zamperlas catalogue of flats.
  18. I was trying to figure out why they'd produce a show about rollercoasters for the GP? I mean this show obviously isn't for any coaster nerd, because it lacked a lot of vital information. So I wondered...why create it? I'm not exactly sure on this, but I'm guessing it's to promote tourism on suffering theme parks to the GP. Any takers on this theory?
  19. ^If a ride has instuctions that go outside the peramiters of "head back, feet flat, hold on tight", I try to avooid it. Underrated coasters, IMO: *Wildcat, Cedar Point- Swartzkoph wild mouse. What more needs to be said? For something that looks like it belongs in a traveling fair, I misjudged this ride. It is something that kids, families, or in my case four jackass college kids on vacation can enjoy. Surprisingly enough that little thing provides plenty of *Pony Express, Knott's Berry Farm- Though it is being marketed to look like it's bigger, longer, and faster than it actually is, it is still a fun ride. A launch at 38mph may not seem so great statistically, the ride experience does in fact feel more intense. I don't think a ride of this length and magnitude would work in a larger park, but for 10 million bucks, I'd say Knott's delivered a ride that hits more than misses. *Scream!, Six Flags Magic Mountain- Though not as forceful or as unique as some of us enthusiasts would like, Scream is still an enjoyable ride. It never has a line and is still a capacity monster. If the wait is under 30 minutes, hop on! *Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Disneyland- What other coaster do you know that has a goat? *Mr. Freeze, Six Flags Over Texas- A lot of people throw stones at Premire rides due to the failure of Batman and Robin:The Chiller. Before riding this ride I would have been one of those people as well, but with waits longer than an hour and no downtime won me over. As an added bonus, the slight launch backwards makes the drop that much more intense. Sure I've been on faster, taller, and longer rides, but record breakers don't always mean the best if it lacks quality and uniqueness. This ride truly is the coolest coaster on the planet.
  20. I was 10. It was my first time at Magic Mountain. I rode Viper because it was the first thing you walk into if you go up the first hill. Damn good ride then, and even better now that my head comes over the OSTR's, so no more
  21. I'm sure that when/if the economy rebounds the parks numbers will increase, but 30,000 a day? That's a bit much. From what I've seen here in California, the most populated state in the country, Disneyland is the only park that hits those kind of numbers on a daily basis. Knott's can do it toward the end of Haunt, but that's it. I agree with the author that HRP just set their goals too high. I'm not saying it's too late for them to make adjustments, they just need to be more realistic with their goals and expectations. A boost from this sloping economy wouldn't hurt either.
  22. Kingda Ka the only coaster of mention at Great Adventure? Doesn't make much sense with Dragster in the same show.
  23. I've been to three CF parks and Three SF parks. So far what Iv'e noticed about all six is this: Cedar Fair parks have nearby hotels, and other attractions nearby. The two Six Flags parks in Texas have other entertainment venues and/or destinations that can attract people to spend more than one day in the area. The only park that I've been to in this category that does not have viable business in the same sense is Magic Mountain. Would a Citywalk-esque venue help?- I don't see how it could hurt. adding a heavily themed strip will help at least MM get out of the "coaster haven" all So. Cal residents know it to be. I think it helps move the park in the direction they want it to go. If you don't want to ride coasters all day, that gives people another option other than leaving. You could go right outside the park, find something to eat, watch a movie, or pick up that last souviner for somebody at home. Seems like DTD and Citywalk in California still attract a decent amount of locals in the area, so why not try it?
  24. Plus it give KI bragging rights. Building a ride is only half the battle. Once it's up you have to market it and make it appealing in some way. if you go with an Intamin rocket, that limits you to say, "The fastest coaster in the park", or "The fastest coaster in Western Ohio". Instead, marketing DB will sound more along the lines of "The tallest and fastest hyper coaster in the midwest". Which one sounds more tempting to ride?
