  1. ^They're the only park in the chain (that I'm aware of) with themed uniforms, pickle barrel trash cans, a unique branded restuarant, etc. I agree that Knott's is set apart from alot of the chain's other properties, but it would be nice if there were not so much of a gap between "Old Knott's" and "New Knott's".
  2. Well, if these rumors about a possible Hy-ga coaster turn out to be true, along with Ouimet planing to bring Knott's back to some of it's former glory, it'd be nice to see the two of those ideas come together in the form of a well thought out attraction. I'd be happy with it if they just didn't pain it red...
  3. Ironically, The park looked much bigger with less things in it. Looking at the one picture of Jag's construction, the park just looked like it had so much more space. Needless to say, Cedar Fair put good use to that space.
  4. ^If you stack up the rides Knott's offers over the rest of Cedar Fair's parks, they'd come out ahead over most of their properties. It's not a bad lineup they have of their rides TOTAL. Yes Cedar Point, Kings Island, and maybe King's Dominion offer better rides total, but after that Knott's is closely behind. With the addition of adding ONE coaster in that of a hyper/giga, IMO that would put Knott's up as the second best park in the chain for variety. Doesn't sound to me like Knott's is that dilapidated that one ride would round out their lineup.
  5. ^Well said...Don't knock it 'til you try it. I myself hope that I can find the time to check this out possibly in the off season...for myself
  6. In 2021....... "What? They're removing Perilous Plunge? But that's the only thing on the boardwalk that has to do with water? They're ruining the atmosphere of the park!"
  7. Mass transit doesn't work in all regions. Totally sucks balls here in L.A. The way I feel about parking fees is the same way I feel about gas prices. I'll be broke and get there on time than to ride a bus and be there two days later. True personal story. For those of you familiar with the metro L.A. area, I live in Lynwood. When I was 19 I worked at Knott's. It took me about 25 minutes to walk to the Green Line station on Long Beach Blvd. Assuming I had to wait the max time for a train (15-20 minutes) I'd have to go two stops to Norwalk (10 minutes) and wait on the 460 to Disneyland, assuming I had to wait the max time for a bus (30 minutes) and ride it to Knott's (45 minutes) total, it takes a little over two hours. I live 17 miles away from Knott's. You know how long it took me to get to work when I started driving? 20 freakin' minutes. 40 with traffic. Even in bad road conditions, and rush hour traffic I was able to drive to work in less than half the time it would take on the bus. My point? Driving makes getting places so much easier, and sometimes paying for things like higher gas prices or outrages parking fees allow you more time to not be spent sitting next to a smelly bum or parking on an unsurpervised lot where your stereo will be ripped out* *Not saying this wouldn't happen at, say Dodger Stadium or Magic Mountain, but you've got a better chance than leaving it on the street.
  8. Yea...I can only imagine what the line's gonna be for GL this weekend. I've seen billboards everywhere for it, so the park is doing a pretty good job of getting the word out about it. They've built it, let's see if the people will come.
  9. Wow. I miss two days of this thread and already talks of Gigas? Let's all keep our fingers crossed and see what happens.
  10. Myself? Nothing, but someone in my apt. building is BLASTIING E-40........at 11 effing thirty in the morning...
  11. Taco Bell's $5 box. Nuff said...
  12. Walk...* *At this time, I would like to remind my fellow posters that I like to use elipses whenever I'm being sarcastic.
  13. ^Okay....let me clarify. The Operator is SUPPOSED to spiel in lieu of a soundtrack.
  14. ^Not sure on what's going on with Sky Cabin, but for now it's not really taking up any valuable real estate, so it's no big deal if it doesn't get removed right away.
  15. ^Yea...Mother's Day at amusement parks always tends to be a ghost town....but American's have well sent the message that few people give a sh*t about their dads.
  16. Personally I wouldn't care about structural theming as much as I would if Ouimet could get the Disney style of operations to stick at all parks. You see and hear about it all the time about Six Flags employees employees on phones (I can recall a PTR someone did on this site of the traffic guard in the MM parking lot with a stop sign in one hand and a phone in the other). It happens quite often at Knott's as well. And in the six years I've frequented* Disney as an enthusiast, I've never seen an employee on their phone while on the job, and if so it happens so infrequently I can't remember. Whatever Matt brought to the table to get Disney employees to have that type of self control, spread to Cedar Fair. If Cedar Fair can somehow improve on it efficiency and operations/customer service, they'd legitimately kill all comparisons they get to Six Flags.
  17. I can't find my phone
  18. Well all of the billboards I've seen for it so far....July 1st. I'm quietly excited about this. Don't know when I'll get a chance to check this out, but I will be watching the progress very closely.
  19. ^To be fair, once the ball started rolling, it was completed rather quickly.
  20. This is a really interesting move. I'm looking forward to see the approach taken with Ouimet at the helms of Cedar Fair. Obviously he did great things for Disney, but it will be worth following to see how he handles a primarily thrill driven company.
  21. Meh. It just seems like better planning should have gone into making sure 2pacalypse the ride was ready to go my now at full force. However, if it's ready to go by say, July 4th, little harm, no foul.
