Whilst you are 100% correct, it is the best photo of a suspended corkscrew... I wanna see more of the coaster at the very bottom of the photo, it looks interesting...ie fully inverted track by the looks of it.... -

^ it's also one of the most painful coasters I have ever had the misfortune to ride.....when it had OTSR's, with the lap bars it is now just violent! I can't believe no one has mentioned Dragon Mountain at Marineland yet.....very weird layout! -

Close enough, it is a Fibre Optic Loopback Wrap Plug, primarily seen in Large Server farms..... (Smaller ones too, but I am not going to list all their applications) Here is a better view of it.

A ‘World First’ water ride inspired by the forces of nature launches at Center Parcs Family thrill-seekers will experience the speed, spinning and drop of the greatest rivers on Earth Ever wondered what it would be like to raft the Zambezi, plummet down the Iguazu Falls and spin around the Naruto whirlpools of Japan? Well now you can, as Center Parcs has transported the experience of these natural wonders to the heart of Elveden Forest in Suffolk. The new £4m Tropical Cyclone water ride, which takes inspiration from the forces of nature across three continents, is the first of its kind created anywhere in the world and the ultimate family thrill experience. Tropical Cyclone emulates the experience of rafting three of the greatest rivers on Earth with water flow reaching a staggering 25,000 litres per minute. A unique clover-shaped raft will take families through a series of twists and turns... Riders should hold on tight as they experience: The speed of the Zambezi: South Africa This one-of-a-kind experience begins with riders entering a dark tunnel, accelerating the raft to a speed similar to the famous Zambezi River... The spinning of the Naruto Whirlpools: Asia Riders will feel what it’s like to wind their way down the river before plummeting into a whirlpool vortex inspired by the Naruto Whirlpools in Japan. Rafters can expect to spin round and round, being drawn into the centre of the 12m wide whirlpool... The drop of the Iguazu Falls: South America Once at the centre of the whirlpool, rafters will plummet down a fast flowing slide inspired by the Iguazu Falls and be propelled into a tornado funnel where they’ll experience a zero-gravity moment as they fly up the slide wall. After a series of exciting oscillations through the funnel, riders descend through a darkened tunnel and into the tropical heated landing pool below... Tropical Cyclone Stats and Facts Riders will experience this unique ride as a family in a four-person clover-shaped raft The water ride can take up to 720 rafters per hour – that’s 12 per minute Each raft will travel up to 24mph The water flow of Tropical Cyclone reaches 25,000 litres per minute The water temperate inside the slide is heated to a tropical 30 degrees Celsius Rafters will experience a full 45 degree drop in the tornado funnel The water ride will stand at 18m tall - that’s the equivalent height of an English oak tree Tropical Cyclone will open in late November 2012 at Center Parcs, Elveden Forest. The new water ride is part of a longer term investment programme in the Subtropical Swimming Paradise across all four Center Parcs UK villages. In addition to the Tropical Cyclone, Elveden Forest will also open The Lagoon, a new child-friendly, family pool, in late November 2012. The Lagoon is part of a long-term investment in each Center Parcs Subtropical Swimming Paradise. Hi All, my Wife and I have just booked a 2 week fly drive to Toronto/Montreal Area of Canada, We are certainly going to visit Canada's Wonderland and La Ronde, as we will only have 1 day at each park, I was going to invest in Fast Pass systems for each park (my wife is a non-rider, so just for me) But whilst reading about them, I see you are required to show some form of ID in order to get the system, can I use a Passport, or will a UK Driving Licence suffice? Thanks for your help. Andy

Largest relocated coaster?

Monster at Wallygator? Olympia looping is a good shout however, you could say Eurostar in the same sentence, however those are built to be taken apart numerous times, no permanent installation is..... -
Liseberg Discussion Thread
andyuk200523 replied to viking86's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have to say I'm a little bit (only a little bit though) disappointed with this announcement, I cannot deny that a kiddie area is needed for Liseberg, but the way we were told last year at the park that they had something huge and incredible for the 90th year, we were led to believe something large (equivelent to Balder etc....) Oh well, I hope that in 10 years there is an amazing announcement for their 100th year! -
[NL] Twister at Grona Lund
andyuk200523 replied to gforce1994's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Nice looking coaster, however it looks nothing like Twister....... twister has a slight curve to the. First drop, also the 2nd hill is taller than yours, and the back half of the coaster is not at ground level but on top of other buildings.... Not to diss your work as it looks like a good coaster, just not Twister. -
Although looking at all the photos on the previous pages, it appears they have installed all of the footers, if this is just an over bank there would be footers off to the side.......and there aren't. I think this could possibly be the first zero g roll on a woodie, the support structure seems to say the track will carry on straight....hopefully we will find out soon!!!

Movie Park Germany Discussion Thread

from a German Local Website http://www.ruhrnachrichten.de Google Translate Link to original article - http://www.ruhrnachrichten.de/lokales/kirchhellen/Movie-Park-will-eine-neue-Achterbahn;art4249,1656950#.T8UDU5omfgs It mentions at the bottom of the page they will be looking to get this open by 2014 -
That would be the easy way out for the park, and why doesn't it already do that? The system works as well as it is ever going to work, it is a similar system to the spinning mice coasters from Maurer, there is an auto leveller as you come into the station, however if the car is tilted past a certain angle it will end up levelling upside down! There is no way around this, not without spending some serious bucks (or you could just get lazy operators and park management to do some work). In all seriousness, during Insane ERS we were coming into the station in all manner of angles, it was never a problem for the staff, and I also saw this during normal operation, so was not something exclusive to ERS.

Its kind of like a Frog Hopper on steroids, at the top, the whole carriage tilts forwards and drops you. -

Just been for a quick trip to Pleasurewood Hills for their "New" 198ft Moser Drop Tower.... ...disappointed, they decided not to go for the Moser Tower, so went for a "140ft" Travelling ride (which I believe is a Fabbri Travelling One) However, they actually bought a 118ft Travelling Drop tower!!! All I can say however is it does pack a punch, at the top there are actually rams that force the car down when it is eventually released!!! Enjoy the pics Larry -
The Mysterious B&M Green Wingrider Track
andyuk200523 replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just to add to this, The Swarm track was being manufactured at this plant in March/April 2011, so I would assume this is more for an overseas client (think production and shipping times). -
It has been a long time since I have followed a new Coaster from Concept, Through Construction and getting to ride it in its first week of operation, so with that in mind, I was already excited for The Swarm, Thorpe have done a fantastic job in marketing this ride (I'll forgive them the stupid PR stunt with the dummies!), they haven't said it is the Worlds Scariest or anything similar to that, they are just saying it how it is (Which makes a nice change from the normal Merlin marketing strategy!). We managed to get to the park just before opening, but having to sort out my Annual Pass took a good 15 minutes, by which time, the mammoth queue at the entrance had disappeared. We were thinking this would be a bad thing for The Swarm as no doubt this is where everyone was heading, our worries were quickly removed though by seeing No Queue! I love what Thorpe have done with the area of The Swarm, the Themeing really is Top-Notch (not Nemesis standard however), but damn close. Our first rides were on the Right hand side of the Train, front then followed by the back, there is a huge difference between both seat positions (probably due to the length of the train). Personally I preferred the front for a pure fun ride, but the back for something with a little "kick" in it. next up we took another 2 rides, this time the left hand side front and back, I definitely prefer the left side over the right, the feeling of being pulled under during the zero g roll and the closeness of all of the effects works best on this side. Morning rides were a little bit slow, but still left me laughing at the end of each ride. Next we headed over to Stealth (4 rides in on this, very disappointed that Thorpe have removed all the single rider queues from the Park for this season, its a hell of a walk with no queue from the station up to the entrance and back again!!!) This is still my favourite ride in the park, the acceleration is insane. Fake Nemesis was calling us, so we thought we would give it some love (No photos today though, Camera was in the car at this point). Always a good solid ride, especially in the 3 back row rides we had (well, 2 on the back row, and 1 just ahead). Detonator time! We had 4 goes without walking round - I still regard this as one of the best drop towers I have ever ridden (and I am getting a good catalogue of those!) It may only be a mere 110ft tall, but the out of seat feeling is better than pretty much all Intamin Drop Towers combined. We spent the rest of the day either riding Swarm or Stealth (we also had 1 go on both Storm Surge and X:\No Way Out - Still a crap ride) Managed to get a ride in each row on Swarm and my conclusion is that although it isn't the most intense coaster in the world, it is just pure re-rideable fun! However, something may be amis on Train 2 - as it was jolting a hell of a lot more than Train 1 was. Enjoy the photos! Welcome to A Crash Scene with an official Title It really changes the Thorpe Skyline
